I ordered M7 but received M7 Fresh instead... should I keep it or return it? Which one is more wearable as daily fragrance?
I'd return it.

have you not smelled the regular M7?

have you smelled cherry robitussin? then you've smelled the regular M7.
I would keep it. It's M7 with citrus. It works fantastic in the summer. Enjoy
post #5 of 37
I would return it.

Funnily enough this happened to me too. I was on the verge of sending it back but curiosity got the better of me and I'm glad it did. M7 can be a bit dark and heavy and I don't find it calling to me much in the summer. This is lighter and quite delicious although not a Basenotes darling.

Thanks for feedback. I smelled regular M7 just once and it was long time ago and on test strip. I remember just top notes and it was ok.

I know that M7 Fresh is harder to find than M7 and I could still buy regular M7 later but I hate to pay my money for something I may not like.. Now this M7 Fresh is still sealed and I am tempted to atleast try it but it may be harder to return it if I open box..

M7 Fresh is easily more wearable, but ultimatley the lesser of the two fragrances, imo. It's not bad though. It opens with a fruity smell that smells VERY close to the smell of Fruity Pebbles cereal (or Froot Loops, though more like Fruity Pebbles, and yes there is a difference! ). Then comes a slightly smoky medicinal ginger phase, with the citrus and fruits still lingering in the background, and slowly it fades into an "M7-light." Less sweet, less medicinal, less everything except wearable.

Damn, fruity cereal description doesnt apealing to me That is reason I have not ordered M7 Fresh before.

I like woody fragrances, floral fragrances, spicy, sweet or gourmand but fruity is not my favourite genre How much fruity is it? It is less fruity than top notes of Pure Havane?

Lol... thanks for link. I am gona look into it.

Haven't tried Pure Havane so I can't say.

One thought: you could always open it, give it a spray or two, and then if you want to return it, claim you didn't notice you got the wrong scent until you sprayed it on yourself and it smelled all wrong. Granted, it's a bit of a white lie but it would probably work. I don't know where you ordered from and what the shipping costs/time are - that would factor heavily into my decision if I were you.
If I can help you, it is actually a very woody fragrance after the top notes burn off. I would say it is less fruity than top notes of Pure Havane. The fruity notes remind me of a grapefruit but muted and not sweet because the woods come up right away and take over from there.

Ah i see. I could not resist and opened box and sprayed it once on me. So far I am not impressed with top notes that smells like Sprite to me but I hope it will change to better.

BTW I also checked code from bottle and it was made in May 2004 so it is definitely vintage one

30 min since spraying M7 Fresh reminds me lot of D&G The One Gentleman + vetiver. I find The One Gentleman to be bland, but vetiver here makes it more masculine and interesting to me. I like it and will keep the bottle.

M7 fresh is a nice grapefruit tone over the regular M7 , the base is like M7 (maybe a little bit watered down but equally recognizable)
I like it a lot though it lacks of sillage and longevity.
I wouldn´t have opened the box because though M7 fresh is nice , regular M7 is more complete and enjoyable

M7 fresh is budlight with lime and M7 is budweiser... Depending on your taste... I don't like fruits in my beer... Neither do I like fruits in my woody fragrance...
Neither of them are Budweiser products, Change1! M7 is more like a good Belgian Ale, maybe a Chimay.
Depends on how much you have paid for it/if you like it. Personally I enjoy it.
I think it's decent. I really prefer M7 though.
M7 Fresh is probably harder to find than M7 (reformulated). Personally I love M7 Fresh and think it's a diamond in the rough. I'd keep it and thank whoever sent it to me by mistake.
If you were getting a vintage bottle of M7, I would return it. If not, I would keep it.

I gave M7 Fresh 2 full wearings and it smells ok but doesnt last and project at all. Might be because bottle is old or because its cold here right now but I would not buy it for sure if I sampled it before. Its like 3 stars fragrance to me. I also called to shop where I bought it and they said that they would change it for M7 if I didnt open my box.. so now I am stuck with shit that I will use just for gym Lesson learned.

Haven't tried M7 Fresh, but I have tried M7. To be honest, M7 has a wonderful unique feel to it. The oud wood in it, is to die for. The dry down though sucks. SUCKS!!! What a shame. Mind you I had tested the vintage M7, which is said to be the better of the two. I can't even imagine what the newer one smells like.

Exactly, besides, M7 Fresh is a lovely fragrance and hard to find, standard M7 can be easily purchased later on bless you.
There are no chance to return now, so go and buy some real M7. 10x stronger
post #27 of 37
sell or swap it ... and write off the supplier ...

I get 6 to 8 hours out of it and while it's not a beast it does project more than you think. On several occasions I've been complimented on it 4 hours or more into the life of the fragrance. I've never worn it in the cooler weather so that might be a factor. I don't know what kind of fragrance you expected, but for what it is M7 Fresh is a pretty unique and manly fresh scent. Skip the original and get a good oud fragrance. There's plently out there and that's the only selling point of M7. It's a dinosaur.

Must say Froot Loops on this one. I would never eat Fruity Pebbles. It's clearly marketed to little girls!

Thank you!

I didn't like M7 fresh either. Once found a bottle at one of those ridiculously low prices that makes you want to like it just so get an awesome bargain. But I didn't like it even a little bit.

Sometimes a change in season makes a difference, so maybe you'll grow to love it.

I was wondering whether someone could clarify a few things about M7 for me here...

1. Has it actually been discontinued in the US? I know it's in production in Europe but it seems like nobody carries it in the states anymore...
2. I realized a change in my bottles between a purchase in 2006 and a purchase in 2010, and have recently realized that this was due to a reformulation. While I still like the current formulation, I did prefer the old one slightly. Does anyone know of a place where I can find the old one? (even a country in Europe would be useful info, I have many friends living there and they could pick up the vintage for me as they travel to the US quite a bit).

You should have returned it.

True. Meanwhile I bought decant of vintage M7 which is definitely way better than M7 Fresh. M7 Fresh is just fruity sprite juice with woody base far in behind. I may use it during summer but to me it is as average as Bleu De Chanel, and maybe even worse. M7 on the other side is more woody, has more personality and lasts longer. I love it!
I love M7: it's a niche disguised as a designer/ mainstream IMO.
I would send it back
everytime i wore i wished i was wearing regular M7 instead...
