Which do you prefer and why?

I am a fan of A Taste of Heaven, and the other day I was at the Scent Bar in LA and got to sample Invasion Barbare, and I must say I was not to impressed with it at first sniff. But once it began to dry and settle on my skin I found it very pleasing, and it reminded me of a more modern version of another fragrance I enjoy Gucci Nobile.

So my question for any of you that have smelled these two fragrances (TOH & IB) which do you prefer and why? Also, If you can think of another fragrance that is similar to these two but you find superior, which is it and why?

Thanks,

Tony

Both top class fougeres, IMO. I don't feel the spices in IB are very well blended with the rest of the frag, they kind of hover over the fougere aspect. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it irks me a bit. Also, I own Versace Black Jeans, which is very similar to IB but without the pronounced spice, which I actually prefer. As for A Taste of Heaven, I really like the absinthe (wormwood), it adds a bitterness that blends well with the lavender and combines with the vanilla into a scent that is classic yet has some unique aspects to it as well. It is a lavender powerhouse, and it is very high end lavender, 4 kinds in fact, so the aromatheraputic properties of lavender are pronounced, I find it a comforting scent that has a very natural feel, drying down into a gentle skin scent.

I would also like to try SL Gris Clair....

I prefer A Taste of Heaven. I found IB nice, but something didn't sit right for me. Both excellent, high, high quality juice.

Invasion lasts forever, unreal quality. Tops on my list of wants. I did notice Shiloh X is fairly similar in the drydown, say an 45-50 minutes in. Only problem is Invasion is 10x more potent.

Black Jeans is about as potent and cost me $35 for 75 mL. Very little difference in the drydown apart from the spice note in IB.

I wrote this whole page out and accidentally deleted it lol. IB is one of my all time favorites. I have only tried TOH last week and wore it once. TOH was very dry an innocuous but enjoyed the full wearing. One of the best absinthe notes I have experienced in a frag yet, well done. I really will need to spend more time with this frag.

I like neither of them, but strongly prefer Invasion Barbare of the two.
