Scent - do I like it? THE most important thing.
Uniqueness - how different from things I have? (Close OK if beloved.)
Price - above a certain amount...... no.
Packaging - yes, I care. Love artistic bottles.

For me the scent itself is paramount.

Other factors I strongly consider are longevity, sillage, and price.

Uniqueness, the packaging, the house, etc. are things I do consider, but in themselves won't convince me to buy or dissuade me from buying a fragrance.

Scent and silage. Must smell good to me and at the same time I must be able to actually smell it without needing to raise my arm to my nose or hope for a whiff when moving about.

Paramount importance - Scent.

Important - Longevity, Sillage.

Fairly important - Uniqueness, Price.

Unimportant - Packaging.

Scent.

I don't mind using mainstream fragrances for various reasons: I don't like most of the ones available in the local market, besides the ones praised in BN are not to be found in Argentina, while others that are really inexpensive are ofte confused with really expensive ones

I personally dislike the idea of spending more than USD 100 in perfumes ("I like what you are wearing, is that X by Eau D'Italie? No, it is Stetson" / "I like that, is it GIT? No, it is Fulton's Blue, a clone of Cool Water costing 1/10 of it". This happened to me many many times, which is sound ground for considering some prices as absolutely unjustified).

I'd rather spend that same amount of money in good quality clothing, books or, added, in other things, like paintings, wristwatches, pieces of furniture and small decoration objects.

How does it make me feel?
Does the price equate to the intent, the composition?

-Do I really have any more money to blow? Honestly?
-Am I sober enough to be making a normally-impulsive purchase?
-Does the advertising resonate with my fantasy world? Do the models look like I pretend I do in my dreams?
-Will owning it make other people think I am rich? Knowledgeable? Refined?
-Does the bottle look classy?
-Can I coerce someone else with more disposable income into buying it for me first?
-Does it jibe with my overall ego? Or am I just playing into some fleeting persona?

I like what I like. I don't mind spending money if a fragrance resonates with me. The scent is foremost. The experience is what it is all about. Novelty, bottles, uniqueness, longevity and sillage are far behind how a fragrance makes me feel. If it fits, it fits.
