Amir by Laura Tonatto

I was wondering if anyone else gets the drugstore, bargain bin feeling when wearing Amir.

It really reminds me of a vintage Jovan frag and I expected so much more from this. I have no problem with el cheapos because I have ( and wear ) a few, but I was anticipating a "Tonatto" and got something else entirely.

Don't remember vintage Jovan, but Perfumes Raffy threw in a sample of Amir with a purchase I made from them and what I got was a lot of incense. It reminded me of Montale Full incense.

I've only tried Iss, Re, & Albi from her line. I never associated those scents with a cheap drugstore vibe...

I like Tonatto fragrances and Amir was out of character from all the others I have tried. It smelled flat out cheap.

It's the "cosmetics" corner at an Indian convenience store. That mixture of incense sticks and sandalwood soap. Very strong, soapy, sweet, ambery and - I agree - cheap. I personally love this store smell, perhaps as it's a childhood memory of exotic otherness, but as a perfume for the body it's impossible - and I'm actually someone who likes and wears Serge Noir, which is equally clichéd, but still a bit classier .

I'll have to add this one to my test list. Tonatto is a pretty good brand, but I really have a heckuva time getting ahold of a full bottle should I ever need one. Currently liking Sandalo per Teti ( and I think you like this one too). I feel like this brand has a nice gap to fill in the world of underwhelming overpriced fragrances and underwhelming releases that scoff at what makes good perfumery so special.

Tabu with a splash of root beer.
