Most underrated house

For me the easy answer is Annick Goutal. This is a very high quality niche house that uses excellent natural ingredients, but I can easily get any of their 100ml bottles for $60.

Parfumerie Generale IMO

Diptyque. Always seem relatively underhyped compared to many yet remain a quality house with many fine scents.

One again a basenotes thread does not definitively answer a question.

I agree +++ with Annick Goutal.
And the name of the perfumes are often very stupids although the scents are greats.
And i don't talk about the feminine packaging with littles butterflies everywhere...

Because you asked an opinion question?

I don't think I've ever seen a unanimous or near-unanimous thread as far as responses without much guidelines go.

M. Micallef or Mona di Orio

Nice, Mona was my second choice after Micallef.

Ormonde Jayne

I can't remember the last time I'd seen a discussion about their scents, but they are gorgeous.

I'd love to know where one can purchase AG at that price.

I second Parfumerie Generale and I'll add

Divine

Hugo Boss. They make safe scents which are generally good for the office. Nothing wrong with that.

Love the humor, Sparky.

Kidding aside, I will vote for Villoresi and Profumum.

I agree. The Italians get ignored. These are two great houses.

True. I'll add Maria Candida Gentile to that list.

I'll put in a vote for Divine. Their feminines are extraordinarily good, especially L'Ame Soeur, L'Inspiratrice, and Divine. And on the masculine side, L'Homme Sage and L'Homme de Coeur are wonderful.

Absolutely agree! She makes extraordinary perfumes, and you can hardly find her on the internet. Try, if you can, Barry Lyndon, Exultat, or Gershwin...

Boucheron
Dior (based on not many stores carrying their mens fragrances)
I still think Micallef is the most underrated, but Humiecki & Graef surely does not get nearly as much exposure here (or love!) as they should, imo.

Where??? Not down here!!!

To the person on the street, not afficianados like us, I'd say YSL is underated. If you're under 40, most people have not heard of Kouros or probably even Opium.
