Replacement for Gucci Pour Homme II

Thread Starter
GPHII is pretty much my perfect signature scent, but since it is (unfortunately) being discontinued, I am look for a replacement that is as similar to that as possible. It wasn't specifically the actually smell of it that made it so perfect for me, it was more of the vibe that I got from it.

Some adjectives I would use to describe what made it so perfect are masculine but gentle, kind-hearted, slightly dark, warm, comforting/inviting, spicy, natural/outdoorsy, poetic, etc.

I know that it's a pretty specific request but a replacement doesn't need to be all of those; I am just looking for fragrances along those same lines to get me going in the right direction.
Any suggestions?

Irreversible by Jeanne Arthes is one I remember being somewhat similar

Where did you hear that GPHII is being discontinued??

thanks! I'll check out Irreversible.

And it's not listed on Gucci's main website anymore (but apparently Pour Homme I is? O.o), and when I emailed them about it they confirmed that it's not in production anymore

WHAT! pour homme 2 is discontinued? Its one of there best sellers and is highly regarded as a great scent worldwide.......if true i gotta go pick up a bottle but i have an itchy that its not discontinued.
You could just buy up a bunch of GPHII while they're still floating around (and they are floating around allover with etailers and what-have-you) if you're that worried... it's not easy to find something "perfect."

L'Artisan's Tea For Two would be a good replacement.

Forgot about this. Another good choice.

Just look online for another bottle of Gucci II while you can. Or maybe Lalique Equus ?

Tea For Two is also tea based fragrance but it is more dense and heavy. IMO suits more to older gentleman.

Annick Goutal Duel smells very similar.

Gucci Pour Homme II discontinued? this industry is going nuts...
Hadn't heard anything about it being discontinued (I know it was rumoured that Gucci PH1 was being discontinued, but I still see both at Sephora all the time.)

I guess it's across the board that Tea for Two is very similar so I'll sample that one as well. I'm just worried about it being too loud and not being versatile enough.
God, I hope GPHII hasn't been discontinued and I've just been misinformed
post #16 of 42
tea pour deux!
It seems to be the latest fashion, especially when it comes to Gucci, to discontinue great frags to give place to an utter crap.
A frag with a very similar vibe and many of the same notes is L'Artisan's excellent Coeur de Vetiver Sacre. It's primarily a lightly smoky tea with an undercurrent of violet, spices (cinnamon) and dried fruits, woods, and a soft leather and vetiver.
Is there an actual link to confirm it's being discontinued? That would suck as I am a huge fan of II, esp. when you want to smell nice but need something a bit closer to the skin. Damn, that would be a travesty. Is I also discontinued? I heard that one definitely is???
It is still there in the gucci website.
No way it has been discontinued.

Pour Homme II is not listed in their fragrances anymore but Pour Homme I still is

Coeur de Vetiver Sacre sounds like something I'm interested in too, thanks!

I think it happens just in US and CA were discontinued. Its still available aound Europe based on their site. but still, hope Gucci PH2 remains.
I sampled Tea for Two and it smelled very smokey on my skin. This really saddens me, nothing really replaces GPHII. Gotta stock up before it's gone!

Lalique Pour Homme Equus, in the Eau de Parfum.

Californians are arrogant enough, please don't lead them to believe they're there own f***ing entity now.

It would truly suck if it were in fact discontinued! When I get my taxes back, I'll have to get atleast 3!
Sometimes frags are only discontinued in regions not necessarily all ovre so maybe its just for the states but everywhere else its still in production, if its DisC in the u.s then prolly the sales were bad. If Gucci were to discontinue PH2 entirely then they have completly gone mad....
It's still there and you can still add it to your cart.

I truly dislike when someone spreads false information. If you don't what you're talking about, don't say it. Gucci Pour Homme ll is not being discontinued. The original post was added last year, and the cologne is still everywhere to date.

Comme des Garcons 2 MAN comes to mind with these adjectives.

But they have only 100ml version so its very possible that they are just selling their old stock which wont be replaced because both Gucci PH I and Gucci PH II were manufactured in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes.
you can still buy 2 back-up bottles, leave them in a refridgerator for the next 30 years, if its your sig and you like it a lot.

It's possible... that comment was from December 2011. I think they also had the 50ml bottles as an option. The GPH I had recently disappeared at that time, though.

...try Yang by Jacques Fath; it is a better GPH II...!
i had gone to a fragrance store and went to ask for this to add a back up to my collection since i knew it was about to be discontinued. i dont wear this fragrance much. so i go in there and the lady say" yea i have one buuuuuuuuuutttttttt i sold it" that idiot must of known to of what was to come to gucci 2. whatever though itd projection and longevity werent even that good!!! but yea tea for two is your best bet

I'm not sure if it's false though. Gucci has been getting rid of all of their Tom Ford era scents. GphI was available as of two months ago. Now it's gone (though it can still be found in a few stores if you REALLY look). GphII is down to just the 100ml bottles and it seems to be disappearing too. It's still on the Gucci website... but then again, GphI was still on their site as of July (when I bought it). I'll be shocked if GphII is still available in 2013. Shocked, but happy.

I get amazing longevity from GphII - easily 12-plus hours, and I can still smell it on my shirt the next day, but I realize many others seem to get poor longevity from it.

Just tried it out today.

It was in the drawers since the SAs mentioned that they weren't stocking it anymore.

I really like it, but my skins drinks it up. Within the first half hour, I have to sniff my arm up close to get any whiff of the fragrance at all.

Too bad
