Horrible top notes in both Live Jazz and Rive Gauche? :\

I'm not sure what it is, but the top notes in both of these fragrances make me ALMOST gag, I don't know if it's a similar note. :S Is my nose just weird haha; is there something in there that you may know of giving me this reaction? :S Just curious.. Cheers

Have no idea what that note could be, but thankfully I don't get the same reaction from these two.

We'd have to know how knowledgeable about notes you are to speculate, other than mention our good friend, lavender.

I think it could just be my skin, and how the fragrance reacts to it? I'm not sure, but its not a subtle smell, its really rancid :S

I haven't tried LJ but Rive Gauche PH has too much patchouli in the base for me, and that can come across as "stale," among other things. It's possible you are detecting it in the top even though it's a base note because you are so sensitive to it. I find RG's top notes to be quite gentle and pleasant.

I have yet to try Rive Gauche, but I can't see what could make anyone gag from Live Jazz. The top notes are an amazing blend of natural citrus peels and mint. It's light and refreshing.. coriander than dominates for a while.. I can see some people not liking this.

Perhaps you got a bad bottle? Or are you using Jazz and not Live Jazz. Live Jazz's top notes are quite hard not to like..

I must be anosmic to those notes. I don't get the gag reflex from either one, and I wear them often. I suspect it might be the citrus-mint combination in LJ. In Rive Gauche, I'm not sure. Sorry I can't shed any light on your question.
