True or False: In High School - doesn't matter what you smell like, as long as you smell good?

Would you agree with me saying as long as someone in high school smells good, it doesn't really matter exactly what they smell like, whether it be a gourmand or fresh cologne (etc...)?
Truth. No kid is gonna care the quality of your splash and how much you've spent. To be honest, most people don't outside of high school either... :')
I'd agree.
So then it does matter what you smell like....
True with a grain of salt: while fragrance tastes in high school may be less diversified, just like in any other environment, individuals are still different, thus with different perceptions about what smells good
post #6 of 34
As true as it is with the rest of the world.
So true.
you are right, the end justifies the means ... as long as you smell good (highly subjective ), it does not matter if it is a gourmand, floral, barnyard or what have you ... here's hoping other folks perceive it the same way ...

I wore GIT in high school, and everybody said my Cool Water smelled good, go figure.

No, emphasis on the what. Or, more aptly put, it doesn't matter exactly what you smell like (which cologne you are wearing) as long as it makes you smell good.

Acqua Di Gio is all you need in high school. The cheerleaders will throw their pompoms your way if you're smelling this good

"as long as someone ...
smells good..." is the operative phrase here...smells good according to WHOM? Someone could wear a gourmand, fresh cologne, oriental, fougere, chypre, etc., and if the mystery judges don't like it, well does that mean it smells good?
lolz you either smell good, dont smell like anything to be noticed, or go take a shower god damn.
True and this applies to 99.99999% of the worlds population. Then theres the basenoters
post #15 of 34
Just make an effort to try, wear and learn about fragrances. Isn't that why you are on Basenotes ? Otherwise, why waste your time here ?
basenoters are more advanced so they have higher expectations for fragrances than the average joe. The average person would be easier to please

Be a gentleman, set yourself appart from the flock, treat others with respect, be responsible, be humble, be a sport or a chap, express your opinions without fear, with conviction but with respect, disregard polical correctness without being obnoxious, be patient, don't take everything seriously, be serious, laugh at idiots without showing, have fun without harming yourself and others, don't mock at the rest, be supportive... I think you get the idea.

After all these etcéteras, include scents and attires.

As long as you are wearing what smells great to you

(Unfortunately), high school isn't that different from the rest of the world...

....No kidding. I really don't know why people feel the need to point out this most obvious thing about Basenotes and fragrance blogs/forums. I think that is why lots of people use them. That is the purpose. I also cannot stand when people use the term "average joe".

.... Yes, you are correct. But the fragrance world is not all about pricey hard to find scents.

Totally agree. And it is not a good thing either ( to me as well). Which is why I get a kick out of adults talking down to youth and saying " In the real world.....".

Well, I also asked for video games and sneakers. But the girls love cologne, so what can I say?

what i meant here is that most people dont expect you to smell good so as long as you smell good, you have some swag already.

I remember talking to a classmate one time who was very popular, and he said, "To get girls, you gotta look good, and smell good." He wore Hollister Jake and the like. It makes me laugh now just thinking about the frags people used to wear in high school/even now in college and how much my nose has matured (though I'm still learning and developing my sense of smell).

Being in high school, I agree with him. BUT, looks and smell are just part of why girls like me. But it's funny, Abercrombie Fierce is one of the colognes on my Christmas wish list. (which includes: Terre D'Hermes, Rochas Man, Armani Code and A*Men). I have a feeling I'm going to take some heat for those choices, but it's too late now.

To simply attend class, sure, to drop panties though, more effort is required, e.g. studying the target and its preferences, so one can apply the correct amount of effective panty dropper that suits the weather and the situation.
