Dark yet " powdery" scents anyone?

Hi all. Well, I'm still searching for my scent. I don't know how this will smell in actualization but does anybody know of a powdery yet dark fragrance. I mean like the powderiness of tonka bean (like le male powderiness) but underneath it a tar-y, leathery base. I looked at Bvlgari Black for this kind of mixture but it wasn't all that I expected and smelled rather feminine to me. Any more ballsy offerings out there?

Le Male powdery? What?

Try Body Kouros if you like Tonka Bean and "dark" scents.

its a reference to a popular powdery cologne that people will know what kind of powdery i'm talking about.
i really like that aspect of le male but not the sweetness.

+1 VCA pH

Interesting - gotta check these out. I love powdery scents, but the "light" stuff is getting old. I had always imagined Body Kouros to be something a bit different from what it sounds like it actually is.

Back to Black By Kilian.

and Versace Black Jeans if you're looking for a fougere. BtB is a complex pipe tobacco frag.

& the winner is ............. SALVADOR DALI PH

I just picked up a bottle of Roberto Cavalli Black at TJ Maxx the other day. It has a powdery, soapy quality like Le Male but a dark quality to it. The drydown is cedar and tonka, very similar to Gucci Pour Homme.

It's not exactly 'dark' but it leans in that direction.

Kolnisch Juchten by Parfums Regence and
Myrrhe Ardente by Annick Goutal, yet not as much.

Another for SALVADOR DALI PH

Not really a fan, but...

Knize Ten is very sweet-powdery with that leathery edge. Tom Ford's Urban Musk might fit the bill, too.

Sounds like a description of a great many 80's masculine powerhouses, so I recommend reading a few of those threads.

+1 for Habanita, a powdery leather/tobacco.

I would also venture to suggest Armani Prive Cuir Amethyste.

Too much powder for me, that's for sure, but it might be what you're looking for.

Ooh, good thread. Montales Black Oud.

Try Lalique 'Encre Noire'.

Salvador Dali for sure, and I love VCAPH but I don't get much powder from it. Salvador Dali is the best dark powder fragrance.

Though I feel a little unfair in mentioning it given its patent unavailability, JAR's Jarling comes to mind. Dark spiced civet over innocent powdery almond. Delectable.

+1 for YSL Body Kouros. (dark, powdery, and sweet with smoky incense and vaporizing eucalyptus on top of marshmallowy tonka bean and benzoin.) Body Kouros is like Le Male's dark gothic little brother. (same type of vibe, but darker & more mysterious).

thats it i'm blind buying bk, (nowhere to try it here...) i feel like i'll like it, since i enjoy jpg lm in moderation despite the sweetness. I've also got my eye on roberto cavalli black and want to sample vca ph and salvador dali though those last two i'm thinking will be more eccentric

Dali & VCA are affordable designer scents & powdery & imho Dali is the man .
Cavalli Black is bright !! as is Body Kouros .
I can add +1 for Kolnich Juchten , but its only lightly powdered .
I cannot comment on the niche ,asi hasve not tried them but sample them before purchasing as they cost much much more ..

vca ph was not what i expected! lol. its very rich incensey and powedery.. with some heavy florals? it smells very "old" to me hehe. i think i will try bk and cavalli black next. i'm very interested in the latter and i don't think bk will disappoint.

You might try Lagerfeld Classic. It's a little sweeter and spicier than VC&A. It's somewhat dark, but nothing like VC&A.

Serge Lutens Chergui, slightly dark, definitely powdery
