mumsy, last blind sniff was out of the ordinary, so please do not smell the vials yet

the most basic rule is you try to guess the fragrance with what you have, by any means necessary. after the sniff begins of course

I was out of touch earlier in the week with crazy work schedule. But back now and things calmed down. I am a night owl (in Chicago) and usually get my internet time in during the evenings.

This is a desirable because of the thrill of guessing the marketing/price tiers of fragrance by the smell, a.k.a. However, we've done it differently before (back in the day, Wolfie will remember better, there was a sniff with all three designer frags and we will definitely do it again as long as everyone wants to play -- that's the most important thing! If you as a host make sure that everyone knows that we are not following our usual niche-designer-mass combo, everyone will be fine, I believe.

Please also update (last update Dec 21, 2011) post #2 with the list of fragrances blind-sniffed by our participants (can't see Chanel No.5 LOL): we sniffed in January, February, March and April in 2012.

So here's the updated schedule.

May: we are taking a break in May instead of a customary June break. In June we are sniffing.
June -- Frou Frou/OVincze: BellaRose, cestrum nocturnum, KarmaLee
July: -- Haunani/Jujy54: darkdreams, OVincze, Warum

Is everybody still alright with that?

Wolfie, will do as soon as I can -- 1) workload, as it is for all of us, and 2) sorry if it's a difference in values, but I think we can update those once a year before 2013 sniffs or maybe twice a year, and I can do it in the Summer when 1) is lighter on me. Again, very sorry if our values do not coincide here -- but it does happen sometimes.

I will need the addresses of the June sniffers, and we need to make a date. my life is suddenly facing a lot of upheavals, btw.
We may have sold our house which means we would have to move on the 15th of June. Right now I am back in the Netherlands, I would have preferred to send the samples from America, but nobody has send me their addresses.
If we have to move I will be back in America in June, but time is running out.
So whatever happens I suggest we have the sniff towards the end of June.

Writing from warm and sunny Morocco.

W., your suggestion about 2013 is not promising IMO, woulld really prefer seeing the list of fragrances as we go without waiting for many months or the whole year, so that we all know what has been used and not included. Please dedicate 30 minutes -- or I will do when I am back home out of the desert at the end of May -- and click on them threads in your footer. Or, anybody else please do and send a list to W., OK?

Hi all! Confirming here that the July Blind Sniff will begin on or near July 10. I have mailing addresses for Warum and Jujy54. Still need that info for Ovincze and Darkdreams.

I plan to mail the packages by June 23 or so, to allow time for the one parcel going to Europe.

A little bit of update. I may go on vacation until about July 12th.
Then I start work on the 16th. So, 13-15 I should be quite free (if the return date does not change). After the 16th I will be free only in the evenings. Brand new job, I probably won't be able to check BN during the day.

Hi, meowmo! I'm sure you weren't voted off any island! Which one were you involved with? All I know is that the May sniff is now in July because of multiple conflicts.

I am waiting for my husband to ask for vacation days and the plans keep changing several times per hour. But hopefully by tonight I will have tickets and be able to make a commitment. Either way, I start work on the 16th so I will be home by then.

Hi everyone, July 12 sounds find unless weekend, which may be tough for me.

I am supposed to cohost June and sent my addie but heard nothing back yet, not sure what is goind on. We are supposed to have it the end of June but I have no idea how that would happen now. I am in Europe and do not even have the samples or theme yet but I think our host was in the process of moving and that is why. End of June like June 22 or so would have been great for me. June 27-28 may be no good cuz of my Bday.

Good. Birthdays (and cats' birthdays) are not excuses -- I was hosting last year, the whole day glued to the screen (7am till almost 10pm), we all had a blast, BTW.

I got my ticket. We are returning on June 12th sometime in the afternoon of evening. So I can start that night (unless I fall asleep) or the following morning. Would this work for the other sniffers and the hosts?

The other aspect is when the samples arrive. We are going to put the mail on hold and the PO closes at 5. I probably won't make it there before 5.

June sniff, I am sorry, three of the samples are out, but i never got BellaRoses address, and meanwhile I dropped my computer two weeks ago, total loss, screen gone, hard drive gone, I lost all my work photos everything, the move was totally stressful, I was working 16 hours a day, meanwhile my neighbor in the Netherlands has been calling me that they are doing huge building work on the apartment above mine and there is some serious damage to mine. And lots of glass smashed in front of my door and not cleaned up and I have two pets! And the parking police gave me a fine of $70,- on my car in the Netherlands because apparently my parking card wasn't visible enough, my neighbor tells me it is perfectly visible.
I have got a new computer now so am back online.
I am sorry I made a mess of this blind sniff.

I will pm Bella Rosa for her address.

OV, you are a ToGo girl -- doing small research/duties/replies to help the host, whatever she thinks is necessary, to make her life easier. We have had many a sniff when a co-host was not aware of the theme/fragrances up until the last moment.

I am in Dallas, we moved from a big house to a cute apartment with great view of downtown, and the Q has only 8 minutes to drive to work instead of 1 hour (or more), and there was a traffic accident every day on the highway. I packed and got rid of 3 truckloads of stuff, one to go into the apartment, one to be picked up by the salvation army, and one large dumpster filled to the brim.
We have the cutest balcony and are next to the Katy trail and a large park and the best art shop in Dallas is three blocks away, and I can walk there via the Katy trail!
Going back to the Netherlands next week where there will be some kind of hell waiting for me...

OV, I got you pm, and did note down you address, and was going to write you back but that evening I lost my faithful computer....

Dear Sniffers, when I told y'all that I won't be able to do much until July, I was not kidding! I have barely finished all my work obligations yesterday, today I packed, and tomorrow we are leaving for Alaska. Most of the trip will be wilderness, so not much connection from me until the beginning of July indeed. I am leaving tomorrow morning, I am coming back on the 3rd. Here's my two cents worth on the thread.

FrouFrou, congratulations on your move and so sorry about your broken computer! Not fun
I am sorry I was not good for much to help you with this sniff. You did not mess it up, hon, or at least I messed it up as much as you did -- this thing is really not made for bowling alone, it's a team effort, and all team members seemed to have some issues this month. Will get better!

I think me too. There may be a trip coming for me around 16-19, but I am desperately trying to wiggle out of it claiming that I had too much already during May and June.

I GOT THE SAMPLES!! The theme name is super cute, but I don't know if I may say anything yet. Of course, I only looked and checked -- nothing leaked, everything perfect -- but did not sniff, did not even try to pry open the plastic baggies.
