What's Your Favorite Penhaligon's Fragrance?

I've only tried three -- Quercus, Juniper Sling and Hammam Bouquet -- and I definitely vote for HAMMAM BOUQUET.
The whole line is too mediocre for me to have a favorite.
Sartorial. Period.
Hammam Bouquet, Douro.
I have tried most of the line and I like Opus 1870 the best.
I haven't tried enough of them to judge, but I'm quite fond of Elixir.
Out of all of the ones that I've tried Amaranthine is my favourite, but I also quite like Sartorial, Lily & Spice and Eau Sans Pareil.

Kind of agree - I've only tried a couple, but none really impressed me.

+1. Too barbershoppy and dilluted mostly. I like Opus 1870 though.

Elixir, Opus 1870, and Douro
Amaranthine
I love Racquets Formula and Sartorial and very much like Opus 1870, Duro and LP no 9 for Men
post #14 of 45
Hammam Bouquet is outstanding! Love it.
Hammam Bouquet, yes. The top notes really are sublime. It is the most Art Nouveau perfume I know.
As someone who doesn't like overblown/ultramulti-faceted frags, I like houses like Penhaligons. I do wish that they did more EdP's though.

For me, it's Opus 1870, Endymion, Racquets and Sartorial.
At equal rankings: Blenheim Bouquet, Opus 1870 and Endymion
post #18 of 45
Sartorial and Racquets Formula for me.

Pens frags are kind of old school and gentlemanly. Barbershop if you will. Some here find that too "mature."

Hammam Bouquet

then:
Duoro
Blenheim Bouquet
Another vote for Sartorial. Quite wonderful and my discovery of 2011. Blenheim Bouquet is quite nice. I've got samples of Racquets and LP no 9 on the way - these weren't in the sample pack I got direct from Pen's.

Amaranthine, Elixer.
Right now it is Endymion.....This is always subject to change!

My husband owns English Fern but hasn't been wearing it much; recently he said he likes LP No. 9 better.

Extract of Limes.........for the middle of summer in Greece.

Castile for me.

Endymion is a fave of my wife and I. She also likes Quercus, and she likes Artemesia (but I don't).
1. Eau De Cologne (from the Anthology)
2. Opus 1870
3. Castile

LP No.9
Endymion
Racquets Formula.

sartorial
I'm much in the minority with this. Extract of Limes was amazing on my skin, and I would probably buy it if I had the money. One of my favorite lime based frags out there. Aside from that, Santorial is pretty nice. I consider this to be a very high class Brut with more depth to it. Endymion was interesting, but just mediocre to me, as is Opus 1870.

Hammam Bouquet and Sartorial.

opus and endymion are my favorite of the house.

I'd go with vintage Hammam Bouquet (reformulated in the last couple of years into some type of insect repellant)
Sartorial is nice
Castile

Oh, really? That is more than a little sad to hear.

Indeed. A lot of people refuse to believe me on this point, but I say you have to try it to believe it. The reformulation coincided with change in ownership, change in packing, and change in ingredients around 2 years ago.

In many ways I agree with LloydLlewellyn, although I must concede that I do rather like some of the frags.

Endymion I adore, both conceptually and out of the bottle, but it just refuses to last more than a couple of hours on my skin.

LP no. 9 For Men is truly lovely with its geranium/clove thing going on, and if you want something similar but with more oomph and more structure try Opium PH (closer to the EDT in my mind, and it's nicer than the EDP anyway).

I was sent a bottle of Douro Eau du Portugal by Penhaligon's when they relaunched it from being just plain old 'Douro' (originally it was 'Lords', who knows when they'll stop!), and when I first tried it a couple of times I was put off by what I perceived as its overly barbershop-style soapy quality. However I've come to wear it quite frequently, it has a sort of grown-up fizzy lemon sherbet quality which is quite long lasting, and is sensible enough for formal or office occasions, and yet charismatic enough (especially if over-applied) for an evening in bars/clubs.

I also quite enjoy Elixir, it has soft, diaphanous notes of rose, cardamom, rosewood, cinnamon and lastly sandalwood in the base, and wafts of faintly 'steamy' eucalyptus. As I recall it was all too fleeting, but I intend to revisit this one.

Wait... Maybe I love Penhaligon's?

Sartorial
If anyone is interested, Penhaligons have a sale on at present with some frags like Racquets and Castile reduced by 50% There is also an unbelievable deal on Lily and Spice if that's a favourite.
