Good Morning,

Thanks for the cheery tune, Jon! Have fun in the sales.

I'm off to the Tate Modern gallery this morning for some culture. SotD is Chanel Cuir de Russie (vintage EdT).

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Hi all. Jon, Gandhajala, what great plans you have today! Have a lovely time. Unfortunately the only thing in my diary today is a tedious bank appointment - yuck!

Secrète Datura by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier today.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Good morning folks,

We can't do without honoring Etta James today, so here is a live performance, clearly indicating to me that we need singers, who are able to transport strong emotions and feelings with fervor and soul. No nice sing-along songs, but creative and daring interpretations!

or

I'm comparing current Acaciosa with two different vintages (one thanks to a kind and generous BN friend ) and another sample of Joy vintage extrait (thank you for your generous offer, it's much appreciated ).
I'm risking to be stoned, but I think R. Fraysse improved Acaciosa... they are all clearly identifiable as Acaciosa, the one vintage sample is aged and I don't think this perfume fares well with age. Both vintages left me, while the current still lingers on with its smoky undertone. Gosh, this really is sublime and so much fun! Joy has a different vibe (more than I had thought), but with time this and Acaciosa approximate each other quite a bit. They are linked IMO.

easyfish, this bottle is a stunner!!

Do enjoy your weekend!

Good afternoon everyone.I'm in Bigarade Concentre .

OK, nice thread so far. Yesterday's was fabulous, too, with most people being in synch.

Larimar, if you change your name to Hedonist (as per suggested), I wonder what the original Hedonist will do? But if I am ever in your neck of woods, I will cook for the bunch (Mid-Eastern included, special requests welcome!) and I will bring embroidered napkins for the crowd with me, Dr.G will be my baking coach/advisor and we will play The Mask (gosh, what a guilty pleasure, love it, JR!) at all times, in our Heaven's Kitchen.

Easyfish, what is the picture of, please?

Montale was calling me this morning, in Crystal Flowers. Brrrrrrrr!

This is my first post from the kindle. What amazing technology.
I am listening to one of our family's fave songs: At Last. Thanks yet again, Larimar.
Typing is absurdly slow, but I can not complain about the other conveniences and access from just a $200 product.
4 ml of TF Tuscan Leather arrived yesterday, so that's SOTD.
I wore Shalimar yesters.
Cyberspace kisses to all.

I bought Rochas Man yesterday at TJMaxx, and what is left on my shirt from yesterday is reminding me of Insense (Givenchy). I'll give the Rochas another wearing today.

Good morning!

Terrific music today, Jon and Larimar, thank you!

My SotD is Hermes Santal Massoia, with notes of sandalwood, massoia bark and coconut.

The pic of my SOTM shows the vintage cut-glass flacon of Amouage Dia Man (2002 - ?); very, very nice!

Thanks.

Good morning! My SOTD is Diptyque L'Ombre dans l'Eau.

Notes include black currant leaves and Bulgarian rose.

Cristalle EDT today.

Yes, very sad about Etta James. Rumours were that this was coming for some time now. Glad she will suffer no more poor health but what a loss for the rest of us. Seems we have more entertainers than actual singers and musicians these days.

Chanel 28 La Pausa for me this morning. Have a great weekend everyone!
I'm wearing Cuir Ottoman today. So kickass while I'm out running errands with Mr Bleu today. We are leaving on vacation in two weeks, and have to pick up a lot of little last minute stuff to take. Shopping with hubby can sometimes be a bit of blur (he's not a fan of shopping!) And then home in time for the KU basketball game ... go Jayhawks!

Happy, happy Saturday, everyone!

I agree, hedonist and Twolf! About the naming... there is only one hedonist and he is our friend with good taste here! If I ever visit you, I insist you serve me that Blue Mountain's espresso you once had a pic of! I insist!

Snowfall this afternoon and at the moment (it will rain overnight), so, after a walk in the wonderful snowy air I'm taking a break from my chypré mania of late and go for Habanita Extrait instead tonight. Spritzing yourself with this bulb atomizer is fun and gaudy at once...

Thanks for the Etta tribute, Larimar. I have one to add to it. I heard this on the radio the other day and I loved it...

R.I.P. Ms. James. ♥

I'm wearing Bourbon French Anastasia today. I woke up to the sound of sleet pattering the roof. The first time this year we've had anything frozen falling down from the sky. It has stopped now.

Etta James 1938-2012
Born Jamesetta Hawkins in 1938 in Los Angeles,
Etta James was the daughter of a 14-year-old mother
and a father she never knew. She would later claim to
have reason to believe her father was the legendary
pool player Rudolf "Minnesota Fats" Wanderone Jr.

Hello. Tobacco Vanille for a rainy L.A. Saturday.
Good Evening,

I see Twolf has put me on baking duty for Larimar's party / BN meetup. Good timing, as I've just finished icing a chocolate + rasberry jam cake. I hope there will be enough to go around:

Lovely tributes to Etta James. May she rest in peace.

I'm freshly showered with Mitsouko soap and applied a few spritzes of the EdP for good measure.

Everyone smells fab today (as always).
Take care, all.

G., you are torturing me... I'm on a 'no sugars at night' regime! Overnight delivery for my slice please, Mr. Mitsouko!

Good evening !. Had a bit of a Lutensfest in the sales today, coming away with Jeux de Peau and Feminite du Bois. Wearing the latter for the rest of today.

gandhajala, may I taste test that for you prior to serving? You know, just to be sure it is perfect

I find 1740 to be strongly intoxicating. I'm addicted, there's nothing to do...

Great purchase! I picked up a vintage bottle on Ebay last week myself. I am hoping that it is going to be *the perfect* sandalwood.
This weekend, because I am house bound by both the weather and my arm, I am venturing deep into my magic box of miniatures and samples, and pulling out some neglected lovelies, for the purpose of wearing and reviewing. Right now I am wearing some vintage Estee Lauder Azuree, from 1969.
Top of basil, jasmine, and citrus; a heart of armoise, vetiver, and rose; and a base of patchouli, moss, and amber. Another interesting green chypre.
Less bite than yesterday's Alliage. Just loving these. Keep warm and dry all.

Went to doctor so scentless so far but it's going to be a Horny Little Devil Day. The kids have been misbehaving so I have little devils on my hands...One of them managed a whining marathon that included whining about:

Getting in the right-hand door of the car, she wanted to get in the left side.
Me not driving over a bridge on the way home. Not kidding. "Why don't you Ever drive over the bridge, mama, waaah, I wanna go over the bridge!"

We'll have feasts, several times a day. And Turkish coffee...

Wow gandhajala that looks absolutely scrumptious.

Wow, what a sweet party here! You all are wonderful.
Seems like there's a leather theme in the today's SOTDs.
I love 1740 too. One time I had my husband spray it on, but nooooo, this is all miiiine!!

But right now I am in Bvlgari Omnia. And am kind of sleepy.

The three of us dug ourselves out of about 8" of powdery snow, and now I'm cozy in Mandorlo di Sicilia-- which smells rather like a root beer float!

I'm wearing some vintage Evyan White Shoulders parfum tonight.

It turns out to be a Chanel day for me, which is always lovely. Chanel Coromandel for this evening. Ahhh.

Enjoying Amouage Epic Woman. I think it works equally well in hot or cold weather.
It is VERY hot here tonight. We are waiting for a good storm.
