Caron Le Fete de Roses

I just bought a small sample of Le Fete de Roses (and it was a pretty penny, I might add). Has anyone ever sampled this? So far I'm just dabbing it on my finger, the sample is so small it's likely 2 wearings, max. It's dusty and aged, but there is something familiar about it.

Just curious to hear if anyone has come across this.

I wonder whether you have the Caron 'bible', the Martin-Hattemberg book?
La Fete des Roses was launched in 1949 and there are many images of luxurious presentations and ads in the book.
The perfume combines several varietes of roses from Bulgaria, Mai, Centifolia, Anatolia blended with vetiver, geranium rosa, vanilla and musk. The grand deluxe presentation was covered in gold leaf. The flacon is a work of Romesnil. I saw a glass flacon for sale on ebay very recently.
What do you smell, BayKAT?

Pas moi. I haven't come across it, nor have I found *my* Caron rose. Please elaborate!

Yes I have that book.

Congratulations on your Le Fete de Roses
I often wondered if it has the name changed as some point and became Caron Rose(funny that on is not mentioned at all in the book as just Rose).

Rose I have seen! But not smelled...phyto universe in NY has half an urn of it on a table in the store, but the SA told me that it was discontinued and "never touches" it.

Thanks Larimar for the notes :-) So far I've only tested a very small swipe on the back of my finger, not a full wearing yet. The liquid is dark amber, and even this small dab is enough to detect at a distance. It has the unmistakable Caron base, and that may be all that's left of it, I'll find out. (The perfumed court still has samples, if anyone is interested)
