Perfume 1 - Sunset

I made a very simple perfume today. Labdanum is one of my favourite smells, and the one I have is so fruity smelling and lovely. It just smells like a warm amber sunset.

I used -

Roughly 3 drops of labdanum (I say roughly becuase I measured this gooey stuff by eye. They looked like normal sized drops.)

10 drops of orange 5-fold (so you'll need to use more if you're using a standard orange.

1 drop of cedarwood (the subtle organic one from Hermitage oils)

It's a very sweet, fruity, round amber coloured perfume. I've put them in fractioned coconut oil and the labdanum is disolving slowly into it.

Sounds good! Try a little vanilla and benzoin along with what you have above.

Ceridwen, you might find it worthwhile to dissolve some of your labdanum in FCO in advance - try making a 10% solution - that will be much easier to work with when you are blending - if you did that with all your materials then you’d also find that you could measure out small amounts much more easily and test them more quickly.

And that blend does indeed sound good . . .

Simple ideas like that are lovely Ceridwen.
Add 1 benzoin, 1 galaxolide, 2 iso E, 4 hedione, 1-2 petitgrain and let me know.
To me it smells like a fine gentleman's perfume (with an unexpected incence undertone)
that Marks and Spencer would be happy to sell. Well done!
