Epic man vs Jubilation XXV vs Honor man vs Memoir man

I want a smokey, incence-y Amouage fragrance.

Which one of the above do you guys recommend?
Honestly, all of them are excellent. For smokey I would suggest memoir or jub and Epic woman to add.
Nothing is smokier than Memoir.

But I feel Jubilation XXV is the best fragrance among those.
All of them sounds about right.
In my opinion Honour Man seems to be the only fragrance in Amouage line that completely revolves around the frankincense.
It provides all of its facets embellished with other notes. This reminds me that I need to sample it more.

Not the smokiest though. I think memoir and epic would be your best bet for that.

I agree.

All of them are great fragrances and you can't go wrong with either, but Memoir Man comes to mind when I think smokey, incense.

I agree Jubilation XXV is the best of the four.
Jubilation is indeed pretty good but Honor Man is very versatile, which is why it ranks higher on my wanted-list. It's not the one with the biggest wow-effect but it's ranks as one of my top-choices for business/more serious-settings. I'm not sure what recurring role Jubilation could fill in my wardrobe. Pretty much the same with Epic, the heavy handed brother of Honor Man. Memoir Man fascinated me for quite some time but I realized that I don't like the late drydown of it - the non-sandalwoody woody notes become a bit plasticy on me at some point.

I don't perceive Honor Man as smokey or incence-dominant, btw.. When I think of those notes, I think of CdG's Incence-series.
As long as you don't expect something really smoky You can't go wrong with any of them.
Memoir is the smokiest and ashiest of the bunch, and is surprisingly versatile. Epic Man is also quite versatile but is more woody/incense with a heavy dose of spice (lots of nutmeg!). Jubilation XXV is excellent but, imo, overrated, and not versatile at all, unless you actually happen to be Arabic royalty, in which case it would make for good daily wear.
Memoir Man ...
If I had to pick one it would be Memoir.
I'd pick Memoir Man. JXXV has too much going on, turns syruppy at times. Not as versatile. U shd also give Epic Man a sniff.
My vote goes to Epic Man.

I Agree with SculptureOf Soul - I own all of them, if I would go for versatility Epic Man would be the winner.

Jubilation XXV

Jubilation.
Of those, Jubilation XXV, but prefer Reflection Man from the Amouage line myself.
Jubilation is my favorite from this line...
All great fragrances but I prefer Jubilation XXV the most

Memoir Man.
The description on the sample box is quite dramatic (Still beautiful):
Quote:
Resonating the fragments of a memoir, this woody and leather fougere fragrance is inspired by the sombre mood of an existential journey. Both alluring and philosophical, this fragrance defies conventions and moves beyond sense and reason.

The creator of this magnifisent scent is a beautiful lady named Karine Vinchon.

Out of the ones listed I like Jubilation XXV most but haven't smelt Honour Man. However for me their best smokey fragrance is Interlude Man.
Interlude is worth a try..burnt opium for smokiness!
If you want incense then Jub XXV. Memoir and Epic Man are also definitely worth a sniff, but not nearly as incensey as Jub XXV.
MM is the smokiest and my second fav. I prefer JXXV the most and Epic third.
I prefer Jubiliation XXV, but I consider all four hard to wear. Honour Man is probably the most wearable.
I have only Jubilation XXV from amouage, but it's not as smoky as Memoir Man...
To consider having Amouage scents me myself prefer this order:
Jubilation XXV
Epic Man
Memoir Man
I prefer Jubilation XXV.

Jubilation XXV

I`m in the minority.. I prefer Honour.

I know I am no big help, but I remember having a bottle of Amouage that was transparent with an ivory-color top as I've mentioned on a different thread that was pretty decent, I do not see it on their current line up. However, it did have some spices, so I am not completely sure about the smokiness aspect.

I myself find Amouage to be overpowering, maybe I haven't found the one yet, but I do love their level of quality and it radiates very well. I'd really love to if they have lighter scent in comparison to the two I've tried, I'm sure I'd like it.
I love Memoir and Honor.
I've only tried epic and memoir, but memoir man is the clear winner for me between those two.
JXXV, received my 100ML bottle today and wow, boozy, blackberry, cinnamon, it's smells amazing on my skin, in the bottle all I thought was 'Talcum powder' then I tried it on my skin and it transformed itself into something really prestigious.

If u like cold oud then Epic

If u like white cold vetiver Honour

If u like orient Jubilation

If u like dark , mistirious then Memoir

No comparation... no similarity .... tumb up always for Amouage

My choice would be Memoir.
Honour Man doesn't rank with me, something about it just doesn't sit right. I think part of it is the idea of Amouage and vetiver clash. When I tried it it didn't seem that special.

I own Jubilation, Memoir, and Epic. I find that I grab Memoir the most, it's just SO GOOD. Jubilation XXV would be my 2nd pick. Epic Man would be 3rd, and while very rich it just doesn't touch the other 2 I feel.
Definitely Memoir.
Memoir > Epic > XXV > Honour

Honestly, JXXV, a memoir, and Epic are the Holy Trinity for me in this house.

If you like Memoir's basenotes + oregano... Interlude Man.

Memoir man is definitely the one with the most smoky incense. However, Jubilation XXV is another good choice, though it is a little sweeter and has a nice blueberry/plum note.

Jubilation XXV by a country mile

+1

If only Epic continued to be "Epic" on the drydown.....

Epic.

Can't go past Jubilation and Epic.

I must bump this.
Interlude Man is precisely what you are looking for.
I have been no fan of Amouage's recent craze of smoke in their fragrances. Epic smelled like Sex Panther by Odion and a burning drum of crude petroleum. Memoir smelled like someone dumped a very full ashtray on top of fresh basil leaves. And Honour man smelled like "Chanel Allure Edition Blanche Poivre Extrême Et Cigarette"

Interlude man, on the other hand.....smells like a massive suede box of stickless Japanese Shoyeido/Baeido incense, sitting in a home where Oud chips smoldered the night before, after a delicious Italian dinner and spiced baklava for dessert.

Interlude Man's incense smoke is not parched or ashy, but rich, smooth, and creamy, almost warm and humid. The leather is not plasticky like Pure Leather, it is soft and rich suede. And I was worried the oregano or allspice would bring too much chaos, but Interlude is smooth and powerful.

A very unexpected winner from Amouage.

I still like Ciel Man and Jubilaton XXV more, but Interlude is 3rd, and Arcus is #4. Everything I liked in Opus #4 seems to be in interlude, but the fruits are toned down, and the cumin removed. Plus a huge massive dose of a Japanese frankincense/myrrh incense. Good stuff.
I agree with DULLAH.
Interlude is exactly what you're describing you're looking for.
In my small collection I have Interlude and Epic, like them both a lot and find
Interlude very smoky, warm and humid, like DULLAH described.
Jubilaton XXV has nothing to do with what you're looking for, IMHO.

I totally agree.

Despite finding Jubilation XXV to be the overall best fragrance of all the fragrances the OP mentioned, it is ABSOLUTELY NOT SMOKY. And the frankincense in it is more the smell of raw hojary frankincense resin tears, not the smell of smoldering frankincense. XXV is all about dried fruits, woody notes, and thick immortelle.

Amouage finally honed their smoke game with Interlude. Lovers of burning Japanese incense, smooth rich suede, AVENTUS' smoky heart, CDG Kyoto, and huge sillage/longevity should seek out Interlude.

Dullah,

Wow you really nailed it. I too am on the fence on whether to purchase Interlude or not. I really don't like incense on my skin. I feel it belongs as a room scent BUT Interlude does it in a way that makes you reconsider. It does last for a REALLY LONG time.

So after not being into the whole smokey Amouage thing you got over it and purchased Interlude because it amazed you that much ?

I am looking at 100ml of TF Italian Cypress or Interlude. Gold man is out. It was not the beast everyone says it is IMO.

Gold man, to me, smells like something Marilyn Miglin would release in 1983. The few redeeming notes in it, appear in a far greater, more masculine, less filthy, and more accessible composition, in Arabian Oud's "Arabian Nights Gold"

I never got over Amouage's ashy smoke, I still dislike and am underwhelmed by their post-Homage releases (until Interlude). Hopefully Beloved Man isn't an overly-powdery, overly-sweet femme cloud like Reflection man.

I just liked the difference in the smokiness found in Interlude.....it's not sullen, not EMO, not pallid or "ashtray", nor is it greasy petrol like Epic. Interlude's smokiness is bold and confident......yet also warm, cozy, smooth, and mildly spicy-sweet, almost as if there is a touch of guerlain-y Benzoin under the Spices, Labdanum, and Oppoponax. Much more contemporary, peaceful, and accessible than their 2008-2012 catalog, IMHO. Certainly Amouage's best "smokey Incense".....Interlude has grabbed my attention (and wears) from Arabian Oud's "Horoof Otriyah" (another current favorite smokey-spicy-fruity-Incense winter scent). I'm liking it a lot, despite almost universally disliking Suede and smoke in perfumes. Well done, Pierre.

I have already tried Jubilation, Lyric and Memoir. What else is worth trying? I personally didn't like Memoir, but liked the other two. So based on those likings which other Amouage Men do you think I would like or should test?

Kilian's Rose Oud, Arabian Oud's Mukhallat Al Diwan and Mukhallat Al Sheyokh. Czech and Speake's No. 88. Washington Tremlett's BLack Tie. From Amouage, I'd suggest Interlude man, and if you liked the thick, resinous, maple-y aspect of Jubilation, I'd like to see what you thought of Annick Goutal's Sables....
