Top notes opening and a peach-apricot accord which is not a base.

I am searching for a solution to a small problem I have with the top notes in my perfumes.
When I first spray them I have to wait at least 30'' before the smell of alcohol is replaced by my top notes. I have noticed in professional perfumes this is not the case. What should I do? Do I need more volatile top notes and which are those?
And a second question. I need a peach-apricot accord that lasts no more than 1-2 the most. The only similar smell I can get is from aldehyde c14 which is a base.
Thank you!

How long since you mixed it? Maybe it hasn't had time to mellow. That might be all it is.

I cannot answer for the synthetic peach.

The fastest top notes are things like citrus and lavender - orange oil in particular fairly leaps out and runs off into the sunset - so you could try that. Orange also has the handy characteristic that it can be modified fairly easily, so for example if you want a lime top note adding a very little lime and a lot of orange will smell like lime not orange. I’ve never had the desire for a fleeting peach scent, but you might try the same sort of technique: a very little Aldehyde C14 along with orange oil. As long as your middle and base notes are robust enough you should find that the peachy opening will be taken over by them even though the C14 hangs about.

There is a formula for a very good peach accord on Perfumer’s Apprentice too, though it isn’t particularly short-lived.

It’s difficult to get a good peach note without using C14 aka gamma-undecalactone because it is what peaches really smell of - it is even possible to buy it as a natural isolate, though it costs vastly more than the synthesised version. As you probably know it isn’t really an aldehyde at all, it’s a lactone.
