New search...a spring/summer staple.

I love strong fragrances, lasting power is important to me. Most of my wardrobe (at least the ones I use most often) lasts at least through the work day, 8 hours minimum. They also tend to be darker heavier frags. But with summer coming I want something more suitable to longer, warmer days. I don't care if the fragrance is new or older, niche or designer. It has to last though.

I would really like to find something a bit fruity (not any sort of citrus except blood orange maybe) and even flowery. Not a huge fan of aquatics but an aquatic note would be OK. Berries, melon, peach, papaya, rhubarb, durian (OK, not durian), mango, various tropical fruits would all be good. Maybe a bit of musk or woods in the base, sandlewood, cedar etc..

I really want something that lasts, and if it does not last at least make it cheap so I can re-apply.

I have Bvlgari Aqva Marine, Hanae Mori and one everyone hates but me, Pi Neo Tropical Paradise. Need something different and new to me. I have considered Kenzo Power, Allure Homme Edition Blanche and one that I am almost afraid to mention for fear my masculinity will shrivel and fall off, Acqua di Gioia Giorgio Armani for women. I have to smell this one every time I go to Nordstrom's...

Open to suggestions.

Longevity is very important to me also, so there are a couple that I can enthusiastically recommend to you. Listen for Him by Herb Alpert can still be found and is a unique and very pleasant smell. I notice that it has an attractive, grape like note as one of its reviewers also noted. I believe it will fit your criterion, and it has excellent longevity (6-8 hours on me). Another you might want to consider is Quartz pour Homme by Molyneux. This is a real compliment getter, smells fantastic (subtle but elegant IMO), lasts 10+ hours on me, and is perfect for Spring and Summer wear. You should also be able to find this without too much effort, and for $30.00 or under.

PS - You may also want to investigate Paris Hilton for Men.

Luca turin's favorite Paradox by Jacomo: fresh melony fruit salad for the summer. Unfortunately difficult to find, though cheap when found.

Also Kenzo Flower (sparkly melony light floral) would do.

Thanks, I thought that was the one... I may have to get this one blind (cheap enough that I won't feel bad) but there is not a single positive review here. That worries me a bit but I do tend to like things that others are so-so about.

Mugler Cologne is a fabulous spring / summer scent that lasts all day long. Very clean smelling.

Style in Play by Lacoste

During spring/summer I tend to prefer vetivers and I suggest Vettiveru as one of the best bang for the buck. Incredibly long lasting, refreshing, easy to wear and...very reasonably priced. Also Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire preforms really good in warmer temperatures.

I'm not much of a big fan of aquatics but Tirrenico by I Profumi Del Forte is a big winner in my book. Fennel anf fruity notes on a clean musky/mossy base. 12+ hrs lasting power. Last but not least you might want to check out Bahiana by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier which is a terrific exotic/fruity summer fragrance.

The garnet colored one from Hummiecki and Graeff is fruity but sophisticated fruity and long lasting.
I suffered through it on my wrist for a few hours during a test application righty before watching a movie at the cinema.
I dislike fruity perfumes.

Granville (Dior Private Collection)
1725 (Histoires de Parfums)
French Lover (Editions de Parfum Frederic Malle)

All very different but all potential staples depending on your taste.

Fils De Dieu by Etat Libre D'Orange. I know you said no citrus, but it opens with... well, bright citrus, but it sits on a creamy rice base with a bit of coconut, ginger and a metallic edge.

+ 1 Quartz Pour Homme

I'll add my favorite, Aqua Quorum. I'll say Quartz is just as good though, but a tad bit more $ so AQ wins.

Byredo Bal d'Afrique, PG Un Crime Exotique, FM Une Fleur de Cassis.

All fruity and interesting and with good lasting power.

+1 for Bond No 9's Coney Island, Chez Bond, and Fire Island. I'd also add Andy Warhol Montauk to that list as well. If you are looking for longevity, sample the fresh scents from Bond. All are eau de parfum strength and have much better than average longevity for warm weather fragrances.

Sampled Frapin L'Humaniste recently and liked it a lot. Citrus, a bit of pepper, but mostly gin & tonic. On my list.

Oh man I can't believe I forgot this one Creed VIW

Style In Play by Lacoste would be perfect. Kourous for evening wear and longevity is still the king.
