Versace The Dreamer

There were other threads about this cologne but I didn't feel like posting in a really old one.

Got a small 1 oz bottle for an amazing price on eBay and just received it in the mail today. Took a shower and now it's my scent of the evening. I definitely get a very strong tobacco feeling out of this. Powder.. not so much. I enjoy it so far and I can't wait for the famous dry down this thing is supposed to have. What are your opinions of this fragrance?
The first 30 to 60 minutes in the heat is a bad idea. Other than that its great. There was some rumors that Versace will release a new fragrance that smells similar without the harsh opening
post #3 of 41
People make a big "to-do" out of the opening, but it's really not that bad -- maybe a little bit bizarre is all. When it settles down, it's one of my faves. Quite different than anything on your Top 3, but I bet you start re-thinking the 1oz. size before long.

Love this scent, definitely very unique.

its a great scent

I'm not used to seeing such consistent praise for a fragrance... where are the haters at?
It's an OK fragrance, unfortunately compared to everything else in my collection it seems mundane, if not a little sterile.
Don't care for it at all.
The opening hoorah is over in a few minutes and then your in for a treat. Just wait till your passed the 1 hour mark. It's absolutely wonderful !!!!!

Well.. it's definitely been over an hour by now. I really like it! Definitely very unique. I will probably wear this one tomorrow and see how my girlfriend reacts to it.

Hahaha. Thanks for the warning, but the girl that I'm dating doesn't know anything about fragrance. She actually enjoys "Curve" the most out of my entire collection.

Maybe you should give her the "It's not you, it's me speech"

lmao, thats a classic

EDIT: Lucky number 777 post
The opening is not much to endure, and when the drydown approaches this frag is worth the money.

Love it!
IMO the dreamer is a classic and ill always have it in my collection, i love it from top to bottom and love the tobacco in this one.

Yes... Rochas Man is not the same as Play Intense damnit! She needs to learn this stuff.

Honestly I don't really like buying the big bottle size. Maybe it's just a psychological thing, but I feel like I like the scent less when I have a lot of it..
opening is intolerable for me. Dry down is tolerable
post #19 of 41
This is a very clean, pleasant scent.

A bit synthetic, but with a light tobacco vibe.
This was nothing but synthetic for me. Couldn't even detect any tobacco. I will give it one more try.
Its ok but i sold my bottle.
Absolutely adore it, it saddens me that it dies on my skin after about 4 hours.
I've worn this full one time, and felt that it's just ok... not too crazy about it. Maybe I'll appreciate it more after consistent wearings.

Ha ha ha

I only buy bottles 100 ml or larger - if I can only get a 75 ml og 90 ml version, then so be it - but rather get 100 ml and up so I can SPRAYYYY it

But I do see your point - when you have little of something, you really have to apprecaite every drop, when you have much of it, you just spray it and don't think so much about it.....

The same here...love the stuff!!

My opinion of this cologne is that it is great. The first 30 minutes are rough, but once you get into the drydown, it's heavenly. The tobacco is nice and the soft, powdery freshness is relaxing. Longevity is a beast too at 13+ hours on me. Great to wear on a night out with a date. For $35, you can have a big bottle. Not a bad deal at all.
Did not enjoy it. Generally don't seem to care for this kind of frag.
I nearly blind bought, fortunately I spotted a tester just in time! Awful stuff IMO.
I don't the tobacco scent at all... Then again I don't really know what it DOES smell like, but it's not tobacco. Still a pleasant drydown though. Well worth the money
post #30 of 41
Most people do not like the opening. I like this scent from top to bottom.
Very unique. Harsh opening. Used to be among my favorites, but now at risk of not being re-upped when I run out.
The opening to me is outstanding. The drydown is kinda lackluster. Nothing special. Its okay, but there are literally 200 fragrances I would wear ahead of this.
I really hated this, so much that I completely just threw out the sample I had, maybe it was a bad sample, but it smelled like plastic.

I'm not too fond of the opening. For me, the entire opening is tobacco. But then it's completely gone after about an hour and a half.

The drydown is very nice though.
The opening of Dreamer is far and away the best part of it.
There is nothing as intoxicatingly like it in any other scent I've tried.
When I read all the negative comments about that opening - as others have posted above - well, it's just bizzare to me.

Take away that opening and all one is left with is just a good mundane scent, smelling like a mix of D&G Homme and Fcuk Him.
Regards,
Renato

I always had a lot of compliments on this one, but I really thought it didn't work with my skin. The drydown was almost exactly the same as when I put it on. After a few hours, all I could smell was damp tobacco. Have just finished my bottle and won't be getting another.
I ordered this earlier this week and it arrived with me today. Just wearing it for the first time now. Only had it on about 20 minutes, but already it has changed in scent a few times. I too get a strong tobacco note from it. I really do like it so far. It was quite 'soapy' to begin with, but that faded to the background quite quickly. It doesn't seem to be quite as projecting as I was led to believe, but maybe my nose has just got used to it and it is stronger than I am aware of.

Yeah it wasn't too strong on my skin. The longevity was around 5-6 hours on my skin. Definitely not a killer like A*Men and the likes.
The best Versace from the ones I know.
a very nice fragrance from top to base ...
well, ive tried The Dreamer, there's some sinthetic note on it that basically scorches my nostrils, that only happened to me when i tried Cool Water...
