Tom Ford Black Orchid

What are your thoughts on this fragrance?

I was shopping scents yesterday and tested about 20 or so that I was interested in.
Of them, only Tom Ford Black Orchid really stood out for me.

Apparently it is a unisex fragrance?

It smelled a bit like 'velvet tuberose' body wash that I used to use...

Def unisex and easy to wear, apart from the initial loudness perhaps. It's strong and seems to last forever. I do enjoy it sometime, esp once it dries down a bit.

It's intriguing and unique, yes. But after using up most of my Nordstrom sample it just got on my nerves.

It has an air of spicy and dark tropical scent for evenings.

Good unique scent indeed!

I did not like this one at all. I would not enjoy smelling it on anyone (male or female), but that is just me... It is very true to its name, however, so if orchid scents are your thing then you probably will love it.

Men can definitely wear this, although I think there are a lot of people who interpret the scent as somewhat feminine. I have a full bottle and wear it fairly frequently. It's a very loud fragrance, so you'll want to be careful not to overapply.

I take it you mean Obsession Night? They are certainly similar but not identical. I actually made a thread about this when I first received my ON. I'd say Obsession Night is the more subdued, masculine version of BO

Black Orchid is my favorite scent by Tom Ford. Glorious, heady and strong. It tales real balls to wear this woman's parfum and most women don't have balls.

Black Orchid is strictly for women. it is also overdone and tacky.

Black Violet, on the other hand, has a similar style but is qualitatively WORLDS better than Black Orchid. Unisex, but it leans masculine. So underrated on these boards.

I'd say 7.5/10, but if they would have toned down the florals and ramped up either the chocolate, amber, or sandalwood, it would be pretty much perfect to me. It reminds me of a Hallmark store because of the wide variety of scents that hits you from the candles.

i bought this after testing it in a shop. A few weeks later i gave it away because i found it nauseating.

I gave it to a friend who liked it...but she doesn't wear it anymore either!!!

I bought it for my wife but I also wear it, it is fantastic.
But I like Black Orchid Voile de Fleur even better.
It was discontinued (VdF) so I bought 8 bottles. That shows you how much I like it.
