It's been a few months, I think. And I am curious again, what you guys are reaching for the most right now.

Myself, I have made some big changes lately, oddly enough

  1. Scherrer 'S' de Scherrer
  2. Gianfranco Ferre Ferre by Ferre
  3. Micallef Mon Parfum
  4. Micallef Les 4 Saisons Hiver
  5. Micallef Special Edition 2011 'Red'
  6. Tiffany by Tiffany
  7. Caron Infini
  8. Balmain Ambre Gris
  9. Roberto Cavalli Serpentine
  10. Yves Saint Laurent Y

And my runners-up:
  1. Balmain Miss Balmain
  2. Miss Dior Cherie edp original vintage
  3. Ungaro Diva edt
  4. La Perla La Perla edt
  5. Roberto Cavalli Oro
  6. Amouage Dia Woman
  7. Jil Sander Scent 79 Woman
  8. Jil Sander No 4
  9. Amouage Honour Woman
  10. Caron Parfum Sacre (new)

Possibly a ranking in this order for what I reach for the most - CURRENTLY:

Sous le Vent - a discovery in the first weeks of January. I'm in love and I can say this has joined my top fave Guerlains, although funny enough I should not like it given my usual preferences and dislikes.

Jicky EdP - working a lot on this last week. I need to apply heftily with part of the jus absorbed in my shirt, otherwise it is pointless on me. I try to burn off the top notes partly at home before I leave...

Tabac Blond - I'm cooling off, which is a seasonal thing as I crave springtime now.

Mouchoir de Monsieur - I don't quite understand the gentlemanly associations as I spray this lavishly. It's sexy like hell to me.

Diaghilev - LOVE! Mitsouko can only compete at Extrait concentration as far as I am concerned, although sometimes I am 'struggling' a bit with an 'opulence' that I do not require in my chyprés.

Acaciosa - a winter love. I found it impossible for me last summer, but heavenly in winter. On my buy list for Paris this spring.

L'Heure Bleue - what can I say? There are days and moments where L'Heure Bleue expresses my mood and I can remain silent. I am happy with my backed-up vintage EdPs and PdTs.

Vol de Nuit - worn less than a year ago, but still love it. In vintage extrait form (I slightly prefer the new) it is the quintessential Guerlain to me.

En Avion - also worn less, but that is just a matter of taste at the moment. One of my greatest love! Anyone wearing this takes me in a storm.

Moment Supreme - I would wear this more if I could, but it is so hard to get in 'fresh' condition (which is Extrait only IMO). Outstanding!

You are SUCH an unflappable classicist; it's so awesome (I have no idea what 'theme' runs through my own fancies, maybe chypric opulence ). I don't know Moment Supreme, but I am very interested in it now! And I just remembered a good citric Patou chypre, Eau de Patou... for that other thread .

During January and February my top 10 were:

HdP 1740
Shalimar Parfum Initial
Terracotta Voile d'Ete
Lubin Idole
Mona di Orio Ambre
Mona di Orio Vanille
Puredistance I

Mona di Orio's Ambre has stolen the top place for ambers in my heart. Since I have discovered it I don't feel much like using my (plenty of) other ambers.

Chanel No. 5

1) Chanel N°5 - body lotion layered with EdT

I've always said, that I enjoy the EdP the
most, but, the EdT has taken the number
one spot ... deeelish!

2) Ysatis de Givenchy - vtg Eau de Toilette

Stay the hell away from the modern stuff! It's
clearly Ysatis, but, waaay watered down.
Fortunately eBay's flooded with cheap vintages.

3) Poison - vintage EdT or Esprit de Parfum

Gotta get the most out of my beloved Poison
before it turns spring for good around here!

4) Chanel N°22 - Les Exclusifs

What can I say?! A massive luxury overdose of
aldehydes on top of one of the most beautiful
white floral hearts ever created. Gotta love it!

5) Opium - vintage Eau de Parfum and parfum

One of the most un-modern frags on the market.
It's a miracle this incense bomb has not been
discontinued yet. Maybe that's because it's a
stroke of pure genius?

6) Oblique RWD (Givenchy), vtg Eau de Toilette

Oh why did they discontinue this cherry gem?!
A better fusion of berries and vanilla one has to
look long and hard to find.

8) Spellbound (Lauder), vintage Eau de Parfum

A heavy and dense, yeah, down right bombastic
floral, with a hint of civet in the base.
Not for everyone, I know that, but, those of us
who love it; loves it with a passion.

9) Le Dix (Balenciaga), vintage Eau de Toilette

A sweet, green floral which I have just recently
discovered, and I simply cannot get enough of it.

X) L'Heure Bleue, vintage Eau de Toilette

For those annoying days, when the world seems
like a bad place to be, and one tries to find some
salvation through perfume. My #1 comfort scent.

Gotta love them vintages!
Le Grand Duc over and out.

Peace, love & applesause!

I've been reaching for mostly the same fragrances as always, but with a few exceptions thrown in the mix.

In no order:
The Chanels
31 rue Cambon
Coromandel
Bois des Iles

PdE Ambre Russe
PG Cadjmere
Ava Luxe No. 23
Frapin 1270
YR Voike d'Ambre
Fendi Theorema Esprit d"Ete

then I've been finishing off some samples that I have tried over the last year.
I've been so consumed with teaching and coaching this winter quarter to notice whichever trend I seem to be pursuing at the moment, but I think I tend to meander scent-wise more than most. . . . Jack of all, master of, etc., etc.
In no particular order:

Jicky - vintage parfum
Shalimar
Chanel - Cuir de Russie
Le Labo - Patchouli 24
First - Van Cleef and Arpels ( Hillaire - you got me going on this again, it's delicious! )
Opium - vintage parfum, I sneak it on just before I go out alone, or when I get in the car, as one of my
sons gets very bothered by it, coughing....he doesn't mind the smell, bothers his asthma )
Mitsouko is also on my list, when I'm in the "mood"
edit: forgot to add the best of all, Guerlain Djedi, when I feel I can spare a few drops!

Evangeline, I think you are my closest thing to a scent sister here. We have a lot of the same faves.

Duc, I am so glad you brought up Oblique Rewind. I keep meaning to add that one to the Unsung Treasure list. It's awesome. You would also like G de Gigli and Chopard Madness, I think.
Vtg Chamade parfum
Fantasia de Fleurs
Carnal Flower
MPG Jasmin
Vtg Quelques Fleurs parfum
Mitsouko edp
Femme de Rochas
Fleurs de Citronnier
Fleurs d'Oranger

Thanks Hillaire, I take it as a compliment!

l always post in the "Most Worn" thread each month, so to make it interesting l'll simply post my current "most loved" fragrances here. The list includes both long-time loves & more recent ones that l don't yet own full bottles of! (They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine...)

Samsara; the closest thing l have to a "signature scent".

Stoned by Solange Azagury-Partridge; the labdanum note in this is swoonworthy! lf anyone knows where l can get a decant of this, please tell me! TPC don't carry it .

Le Maroc pour Elle by Tauer; the hippie chick in me loves that headshop jasmine-incense!

Luxe Champaca by Comme des Garcons; a HG rich, creamy white floral.

Gardenia Petale by Van Cleef & Arpels; a HG gardenia!

Narcisse Noir by Caron; sunny Spring flowers over a mossy, animalic darkness, plus incense; irresistible!

Black Orchid by Tom Ford; a scent l have difficulty describing. l don't know what it is but l love it!

Alien by Thierry Mugler; every time l wear it, l fall in love with that "supersonic jasmine" all over again.

Sweet Oriental Dream by Montale; the perfect sleep scent, this has an almost narcotic effect on me.

Carnal Flower; what can l say? Beauty in a bottle.

I've noticed that, too. I'm honored to be your scent-sister!

Have to think about it. I get "cravings" that last a month, two, three. Many of my recent faves are on cello's list ( Frapin 1270, 31 rue Cambon, Bois des iles, Cadjméré..)

And I seem to have a serious Bottega Veneta jones.
Wow, what a cool thread but also a tough one because does it not depend on phases, cravings we go through, seasons, moods, etc.? My faves often remain the same but their ranking really varies from time to time, Love, Chloe was my bigtime fave this past fall but now I have sort of tired of it, whether for good and my taste has become more acquired or I am going through a phase, I do not know, still love it and think the reason I have tired of it in part is that my best friend was really in love with it and I gifted her with it for Xmas so I smell it every day on her and I really preferred smelling it on me. It is still my date perfume.

My No. 1 is Clinique Wrappings (preferably the older version but like the new as well),

No.2 hmm vintage Diorissimo, hey springtime is here so of course...

Other faves:

- AG Myrrhe Ardente discovered during the Blindsniff in Jan

-Clinique Aromatics Elixir, both the original and the LE,

- Le Labo Iris 39, want to test more, it may become a fave...

- the original Shalimar, do not own it yet though

-Chloe, Love and really like the new L'Eau de Chloe for the summer (even though I thought I would hate it),

-Elie Saab, really nice for the springtime.

I may be forgetting some and of course I will likely be adding others. I really love fumes with an animalic touch, I have a thing for civet, labdanum... hence Diorissimo, Le Labo, Shalimar, love deep resins and balsams as well. Wrappings is just so unique nothing has beaten it off its No. 1 spot thus far.
Oh and forgot to add that I somehow tend to wear my biggest faves less, I really need the day to be special and my mood to fit them and also I have the vintage versions of both Wrappings and Diorissimo, thus harder to get...
I have some year-round favorites, but there are some scents that I prefer in certain seasons. Lately it's more like this:

Guerlain (always) L'Heure Bleue (not too often because it is SO special)
Chamade
Shalimar
Jicky
Nahema
And then I've been craving the few Diors I own: Dolce Vita
Diorissimo
Dioressence
Wish I had a couple more of the Diors.
I have delayed posting here because frankly, I don't know what my top 10 is anymore - it's evolving as we speak .
However here are a few of my currents

Child perfume oil
Vol de Nuit parfum extrait
IF by Apothia
Kai perfume oil
Royal Muska
Shalimar Parfum Initial
Frangipani by Ormonde Jayne
Joy
Narcisse Noire

Mitsouko has fallen off altogether. Shocking, I know. Maybe she'll be back but for now, she is on hiatus.
Child perfume oil? Wow, how interesting, what brand may I ask? I wonder what it is that we can totally fall head over heels for a fume and then completely fall out of it? I do think it has to do with your nose tiring of it somehow and after a hiatus you can love it again, however, my experience has been that never as much again as initially. Hence, I alternate daily now, I really do not want to tire of my faves anymore))
Currently mine are

Vintage Givenchy III
Hypnotic Poison
Y
Aromatics Elixir
AE Sheer Velvet
Habanita (must buy)
Eau de Soir
Ambre Sultan
Mitsouko

My favorites aren't always the ones I wear most often
post #23 of 23
Oops only posted 9!

No 10 would be vintage Poison which I eagerly await delivery of
