Reformulated Mitsouko EdT - What WAS I thinking? >:6 (yuck face)

Just got the Mitsy EdT from fragrancenet, whom I always find reliable. I experience this EDT as a single very loud note: clove. That's it after the first few minutes which are just an aldehydic mess, and I like aldehydes. Q: Given my dislike for the EdT, should I even give the reformulated EdP a chance? I had sampled a pre-reformulation EdP from TPC, and liked but didn't love. I got the peachy thing, and beyond that it smelled like my mother's scarf drawer.

Yes, do give the reformulated EDP a chance. It is better than the EDT - closer to the original though it lacks that velvety drydown which the vintage had. It's still a very good representation of Mitsouko ,her character and closer to the original . ( Even more so than the extrait IMHO. )New Mitsouko EDP is 'fresher' I guess and has more vetiver - the drydown is crisper ,drier. Maybe the new EDP will be a love for you !

Mimi, next paycheck! Perhaps a bigger decant is in order. I need at least 2 ml, preferably 5 to "think it over."

(a few moments later): TPC has 5 ml EDp for $15, a bargain. I'll not even pursue vintage so as not to drive myself crazy. All in all, I'm finding that I'm a leather and smoke gal at heart, and I like my chypres with some galbanum. Sniff by sniff, my nose is being educated.

Agree completely with Mimi Gardenia that current EdP is somewhat more representative of Mitsouko than the current parfum. Even better - try ebay and look for an old EdT or EdP. They can still be found at less than the price of the post-2008 versions.
