Hi everyone,
I went on a small fragrance tour today and stopped by the Creed boutique on 67th street in midtown. One of the things I asked the man was about batch numbers and, blah blah blah, eventually we got into a discussion about whether the Green Irish Tweed I bought on Walgreens.com was fake. He said specifically that there's only 35 individuals who actually make Creeds, and that if I were to bring my GIT into the store he'd be able to tell right away that it's fake by the appearance and feel of the box, plus that Creed SAs are trained to differentiate fakes from real Creeds. He also said that most people who talk about batch numbers are full of crap because the perfumers can't allow too much variation in their products.
I personally am quite secure with my GIT. I think it's real, I think it smells nice, and I'm quite happy with it, even though I have a 2010 and I admit it slightly lacks sillage or longevity. I know this topic's been beaten to death, but I'm wondering what you think in light of what the man at Creed said. Is he just blowing smoke or what?
