Kokorico de Jean Paul Gaultier

I've just come home from my fave perfumerie in Copenhagen.
I sniffed Kokorico for the first time, and I loved it.
But, it reminded me of something which I couldn't put my
finger on. I sniffed and sniffed and sniffed!
I decided to buy a bottle, but, just as I was to pay, it hit me:
It's a complete clone of Chanel's Coromandel. I mean, it's
exactly like it. Since I already own a tank of Coromandel; I
didn't buy Kokorico ... what do you guys think?!

OMG! You of all people, Joe?!
You must see the similarities?!

It reminds me a bit of Black Xs, the basenotes.

It's really good. It has the same patchouli/cocoa vibe going on as Coromandel.
I think that Kokorico is a good - cheap - substitute for the expensive Chanel.

Oh I don't like Coromandel, so this doesn't sound good.
I hate the bottle, that's all I know!
Some compare it to L'Instant PH.
Sampled it yesterday as well . It's similar to L'instant de Guerlain extreme and actually projects better than the latter .
A copy of L'Instant
but is it better than LIDGE?
drydown smells like B.O imo, got 2 headshakes in the bus, only had 1 spray on the arm, no go
post #14 of 30
Just smelled both from my collection. Doesn't smell like Coromandel to me.

No - It feels very synthetic.

Strange ... I think so anyway!

Lol. I thought that was a joke! Than I hope it isn't a fake either!

Hi LGD, I also smelled it recently but didn't see a connection.
I actually own and love both coromandel and Borneo 1834.

Same here

Kokoroki = indeed a copy of L'Instant Eau Extreme (with L'Instant being 10+x better).
Comparing it with Coromandel is insane, haha!
No Chanel wearing for you for at least 3 months as punishment.
Call me mad, but I did sense some similarities even with Le Male

I find it confusing that Gaultier's fragrances are often treated with condescension, but are also (in the case of Kokorico) seen as trend setting by the likes of Rojo Dove.

Whats up with the shading around his feet?? and why did they use MS Paint to crop that picture? They took off some of his head...

Wow that's just pure evil!

I'm not a fan of Kokorico, theres something in it which I don't like. I don't detect any cocoa or chocolate in it, and to me, it doesn't smell remotely similar to the gorgeous LIDGE

Lol

Kokoriko smells NOTHING like Cormandel, putting them on the same field is just wrong. A very lack lustre fragrance with poor longevity and sillage, a really watered down mish mash of fahrenheit ( at the top) and Angel men or any cocoa note fragrance.
