Blind Buy: Dior Homme Intense

Not too long ago, I asked you guys on your opinion about getting Kenzo Power or DHI. I decided to search around to see if anyone had a vintage bottle DHI laying around, and to my surprise I have. I have NdN, TV, PM, PC, and PH so I would classify myself as a fan of sweet scents.

In the spirit of gambling I am tempted to spring for this bad boy, but at $300 this could be a smash hit or an utter disappointment.

With that being said, what do you vintage DHI lovers say?

Sorry man, but there is NO WAY I'd pay $300 for "vintage" Dior Homme Intense - especially if it's a blind buy. It's a nice fragrance but IMO not deserving of the hype and acclaim it receives. There are so many other gourmand fragrances just as good.

Wouldn't pay $300 either.

HELL NO, same with me, and I love this fragrance. I would never buy DHI for $300 bucks...so many potentially better fragrances out there.

Too much for that IMO.

I gotta admit, I bought two bottles of vintage Dior Homme intense about 6 months ago for $250.00. It's one of my favorite scents of all time, but here's the truth....the reformulation is pretty darn close!

Just patiently wait for Fragrancenet to have it back in stock. I bought my vintage (silver collar) 50 ml bottle a few months ago from them for $65.

This. I've owned the so-called vintage and reformulation (my black collar bottle is from April 2011) and they smell the same to me.

whoa not worth $300, the newer release is not too different from the vintage juice.

Thanks for the heads up, guys!

Don't go nuts over getting "vintage" DHI especially for 100$+, just get the latest. The difference between them is negligible.

As long as DHI is not in the same vein as Caron Pour un Homme or Versace the Dreamer, I'll just spring for the newest version.

This. Just get the new version, you will never know the difference and save $200
post #14 of 33
Where is anyone buying the new release? I am having a really hard time finding this...

I haven't had a chance to test the new formulation yet, but I have tested the vintage and I like it. How would you compare the two?

Try the Dior boutique in NYC. They dont have it at the Las Vegas boutique.

I have not tried the new one so i cant compare. Just saying, the OP hasnt tried either so he should be happy with the new one.

Got it. Yeah I'm sure the new formulation can't be as bad as people are making it out to be. Dior Homme Intense is a niche quality fragrance, but the most I would spend would probably be $150 if worse came to worse.

I got my DHI 100ml, new formulation for $90. Personally I wouldn't pay anything more than this.

Buy reformulated Dior Homme for $80 and call it a day. It's pretty much vintage DHI

+1

No way I would pay 300$
Just buy Dior Homme. Apparently the new formulation is close to vintage DHI. Just saying.
for $300, I would rather you get a vintage dior homme, a reformulated dior homme and a reformulated DHI. for the very same price you get three fragrances now
post #23 of 33
No fragrance on mother earth is worth $300. Just buy reformulated DHI and spend $230 on high quality food or other fragrances .
$300 is way too much, IMO. I would argue $75 may be too much too. ;-)
It's a nice fragrance but only at the standard price point. It's not worth $300, no way, no how!
I have vintage DHI and like it but as others have said it is not worth $300. If you have money too burn I would look at the high end fragrances like Amouge etc.

After doing some digging around, I was able to find vintage DHI, all thanks to Hiro aka Miguel Yoruzuka! lol
post #28 of 33
It's a great scent, BUT 300$...

Moore, I did not shell out any cash at all. I swapped my 50 ml TV for his 3.4 oz vintage DHI!

That was a good deal! I think... Let's see, TV 50ml's are $195 retail. DHI 3.4 oz vintages on eBay are $200-$250. Yeah, you done good mane.

I actually got TV for $147 brand new (without box), so I think I might have gotten one of the sweetest deals out there.
I would rather have 50ml TV than 100ml DHI (and I actually have both in those exact sizes).
