Etro Vetiver replacement

I was wondering if there is a vetiver fragance similar to Etro's (old packaging) vetiver...

I mean, I love that stuff... on my skin is dry, masculine, slightly smoky and with a nutty undertone I adore... reminds me some kind of hazelnut lol avoiding it to smell like a bbq

Any idea?

Route Du Vetiver (possibly the vintage) or, if you're up for an even more challenging research, check out Tuba by Mekkanische Rose (http://www.mekkanischerose.de/)

Givenchy's Vetiver goes in a similar "nutty" direction, though it is more demure, lacking the smoky aspect. If Etro is a country style rough tweed suit vetiver, Givenchy is its Mayfair / pinstripe complement. Both are great and I'm sad to hear that the new ETRO is apparently different?!

Thank you people! I love the smoky-dry-nutty character.. so original

I didn't try the new Vetiver, but I've heard from some people that newer is much more citrusy and less... everything! which is sad

When did they change it?

Turtle Vetiver Front has a nice hazelnut thing going on, which I think is kind of an olfactory illusion you get with vetiver and cocunut. It is not dry and smoky though--more of a creamy scent.

Only exercise 1 truly substitutes Etro's Vetiver.
Close resemblance is Bourbon Vetiver.

How do you tell new packaging from old packaging?

Yes! Tried only the old vetiver from Etro (only in 100ml, golden cap)... but I heard the "new" (new packaging with silver cap, 50/100ml) is not the same... I don't know, I have a sample of the "new" Sandalo and it smells wonderful, smooth and longlasting, but I don't know about the vetiver one

Maybe You refer to my 'review'. Yes, I found the new EDT different. A bit 'citrus' or just something sharp that is absent to my nose in the former EDC. The new EDT has more smoke, is drier, less nutty - as far as my recollection goes. I have to admit, this 'review' - meant to describe the EDC - was written when I just started out to waste my money. The note on the EDT was just that, a note to make clear what I was referring to. I strongly advise You not to dismiss the EDT, but try it first several times. It wouldn't be a miracle if it appeals to You even more than the EDC!

I'd buy me a bottle of Chanel's Sycomore.
