Timbuktu and Red Vetyver too similar?

I am looking to expand my young wardrobe and interested in both scents. Are they very different and I just cant tell from my sample? Anyone rotate both in their arensal? I do not own Terre, but do wear LOTMD if that helps.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Haven't used one after the other, but have both and to me from what I can remember, they are different enough to own both.

Can I ask out of extreme curiosity what LOTMD is? Sorry can't help since I haven't smelled Red Vetyver but Timbuktu's always been just alright to me.

The have a few similar notes to me, but are still different at the same time

They are not similar to me.

Not similar to me either...

I think they're pretty different. I've started to put my vials of samples into small spray vials. I think you get a more accurate feel for the juice when it's sprayed than when it's dabbed.

Not even remotely.

Red Vetyver is similar to Terre D'Hermes, nothing like Timbuktu

Thanks for the help.

I do find the scents get bigger and more vibrant once I get the full bottle. (sometimes, not for the better)

The only fragrance I've so far come across that's very close to Timbuktu is Comme des Garçons Kyoto (also by Bertrand Duchaufour).

Red Vetyver is similar to CdG's Sequoia. Not Timbuktu.

Nope!

Haha, I don't know of anything I'd call 'similar' to Timbuktu. Not that it's 'untouchable' or 'perfect'--just nothing else quite like it.

Red Vetyver on the other hand is VERY similar to Terre d'Hermes.

Not similar.

Truly, I do suggest spraying Timbuktu and CdG Kyoto side by side. The similarity will be right there, smiling at you.

I earnestly wonder what you're picking up on. I smelled Kyoto very recently, and didn't notice any similarity at all...except to the rest of CdG's incense series. Oh well, I guess I also sometimes pick up on a note similarity that others don't get.
