Habit Rouge and Floris 89

I enjoy both of these classics and personally find them to be similar. To me, the floral notes are of the same vibe, but Floris 89 has that nutmeg note going on as well. Does anyone else see a similarity in these two fragrances? Thanks for your opinions.

Personally don't get the similarity, but my nose is not that sharp anyway.

Hamp, I will be getting a sample of Floris 89 quite soon. Any day now, actually.

Once I sample it, I will get back to this thread and update it for you. Hope that sounds good to you. Personally, I love Habit Rouge ( although I am crazy for the current edt). So if there is a similarity, that may prove to be a positive thing.

I dont get the similarities also, But I do enjoy Habit Rouge a lot

Okay, I finally got down to sampling Floris 89.

In a way, it does have a similarity to Habit Rouge edt. Its got a similar vibe. That doesn't mean they smell exactly alike, but I also would not say they are night and day either. Perhaps it is the floral notes. But I do feel the vanilla and opoponax start to dominate more into the dry down of Habit Rouge edt. Whereas in Floris 89, it gets to be more of a woods and rose.

Both are quite nice. But I think Floris 89 starts to smell "off" or funky on my skin after a while. Habit Rouge edt ( in vintage formula) is awesome to me. The current gets a bit on the sweet and powdery side.

Maybe its French vs. English here and down to what style and vibe one prefers. Hope this helps Hamp

has 89 been discontinued?

I think the Floris 89 is still in the lineup.

I don't get any similarity in these two at all. Habit Rouge is a citrus leather with a hint of vanilla, while Floris 89 is more like an herbal Hamman Bouquet or a fougere, yet more hesperidic.

No similarities to my nose, but both are good (actually, vintage no. 89 is great).

No problem Hamp. If you ever get the chance, do sample Penhaligon's Hamman Bouquet and Washington Tremlett Black Tie. Both have a nice floral accord of rose, but are different enought to warrant a sample.
