Creed advice for a teenager

Hey guys, I am a brand new member to basenotes so please don't get mad if I touched on a topic already discussed.
I am wondering which creed fragrance to get for my 17th birthday. I live in Hawaii so it is always between 75 and 85 degrees and tropical. I already have MI and love the scent, but I want something that is a little bit different. I was thinking of Aventus and VIW. I tried both and really liked them. However, I am slightly leaning towards VIW because of how amazing it smells, and because I live in Hawaii I could probably pull it off all year round. However, I am still on the fence. If you guys can provide your expertise and suggest anything else that you might think is good for a 17 yr old guy.
Thanks!

if your locked on to creeds, then id pick VIW or Aventus as well. I perfer VIW's opening but VIW goes downhill after the top notes while aventus stays sharp.

I'd say you can't go wrong with either, but my recommendation would be for VIW.

Well I enjoy creeds, but I am still open minded because I am still new to the niche world, but feel free to suggest any other fragrances from other houses that you think are worth checking out.
Also thank you for the quick responses!

I would recommend Aventus but VIW is very close behind.

VIW and Aventus are good choises, but don't forget Silver Mountain Water, Himalaya or even Santal if you like very sweet scents.

I would say Aventus out of the ones you mentioned as I consider VIW to be a bit of a novelty fragrance. Original Vetiver is good in the heat as well.

If I still lived in Oahu, I'd say without a doubt millesime Imperial during the day (but you already have it) and Aventus during the night. I'd go to Ross in Pearl City and grab a bottle of Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts (actually I did!) and wear that at the beach. It should be a cheap suitable alternative to VIW. Aventus is my fave Creed though so of course I'm going to go with that!

Yea both Aventus and VIW are good choices. I would go for Aventus though cos it can be a night scent while MI could be used in the morning

Totally agree here. I like VIW but don't consider it bottle worthy given its price tag, while Aventus is wonderful stuff. Grab Aventus for going out at night and when you are a bit more dressed up, and go with a good bargain scent like one of the Tommy Bahama's for day time, casual (shorts and sandals) wear.

By your own words you say VIW smells amazing, It sounds like you've already made your decision. Its an ideal scent for a climate like yours.

Hello and welcome! I used to live in Hawaii (Oahu) and go back often. I would suggest Virgin Island Water by Creed. Great coconut and lime and great for the climate!

try:

Bulgari Aqua pour Homme Marine by Bulgari - Initially, one is slapped with a bitter citrus, provided by the sharp grapefruit and sour neroli brigarade, slowy tempered by the fruitiness of sweet melons and somewhat medicinal cucumber. From afar, a sprinkling of saltiness beckons the invigorating opening to its waiting middle. Here, in the heart, a magnificent stew brews with the pine-like, tangy rosemary flower, coupled with what I venture to say is calone with its watery, marine and ozone accord as well as posidonia, with its sea grass, vegetal highlight and oceanic spiciness, to furnish a delightful, fresh, seashore apparition. Transitioning to its untroubled base, white cedarwood with its crisp, dry and clean woodiness carries the piece to its comforting drydown. This unique, brine composition, a treat to be enjoyed in the warm weather of spring and summer, has good projection and average longevity.

&

Infusion d'Homme By Prada - an enchanting soapy and clean vibe ... the refreshing citrus opening, wherein the neroli and mandarin notes interplay wonderfully, yields to an intriguing heart, with its vetiver, iris, galbanum and cedar cocktail, majestically carrying to the squeaky-clean base of benzoin and frankincense .... decent longevity and projection ...

I think VIW would be great for now and get Aventus down the road

Yes on Aventus or VIW. Check out Silver Mountain Water too

If you wanna go for different, SMW. Lasts forever, is unique, great for anytime or anywhere.

+1 on Silver Mountain Water. It would be a magnificent fragrance for Hawaii. It's a captivating, clean, non-offensive scent that most girls love, too. I can also certainly see that VIW would be an enjoyable fragrance for Hawaii, as would Green Irish Tweed. Aventus would not be a fragrance I would choose for warm weather.

I got my wife VIW and absolutely love it. Please note that just because I bought it for my wife does not mean that I wouldn't wear it. Once it gets above 80 in SoCal, I will be all over it.

Thanks guys for the great suggestions. I got a sample of SMW and I like how fresh and crisp it smells, and I think it has better projection. But it seems a bit feminine for me, but maybe I give it a second chance.

And as for the witty car comment, thank you haha.

Also how long does VIW usually last?

I've heard some people say 1 hour. I've heard other people say 7-10 hours. It depends on the batch and on your personal chemistry. I say it's time to Set Sail to St. Barts! $20 for a very nice VIW substitute will leave you plenty of cash left to buy Aventus!

Personally, VIW is my favorite Creed of all & would easily be my choice for where you live (I would choose it over MI & Aventus). As far as longevity, I get great longevity with VIW. In fact, behind Aventus, it's one of the longer lasting Creed's on my skin. (although you do get a lot more coconut & less lime as it progresses, but I love coconut & don't really get why some consider it a polarizing or novelty note). As far as Tommy Bahama Set Sail St Bart's goes; it's ok, but is in no way a substitute for VIW for me. The very strong tequila note in that one takes it in a different direction & is really boozy. I know VIW has rum, but I never really get any boozy notes in it. With VIW, I get lime, lots of coconut, and some of the sugarcane in the base.
