Since about 30 mins ago, I'm getting a warning every time I try to use Basenotes via the latest version of Safari.

It says: Warning: Visiting this site may harm your computer

Me too, but only on Safari, not on Firefox.

firefox tends to ignore these warnings as does IE

So is there anything to them? What triggers them?

probably ads, but it could be something deeper in the site's code. a friend of mine's forum has these warnings and he doesn't have ads.

I'm getting the warnings using the latest version of Safari. When I use the latest version of Firefox, there are no warnings. I'm wondering what caused the sudden change as Safari wasn't getting them until now.

I don't get the warning any more on Safari. (I haven't done anything different with my computer; my software was already up to date.)

Have you had one since the site went up?

I'm on Safari and I haven't seen that malware message.

However, I am still getting the obnoxious "Are you sure you want to leave this page?" message. If I click "Leave Page," it posts the message the way it's supposed to.

Apparently that's a a "feature" of the updated software. I don't like it, and I'll try and find a way to kill it with my bare hands when I get back to the UK
