I've never in my life used up a whole bottle of a fragrance. I see people say how some frags are so expensive but in terms of cost per wear (3 spray average) I think they're one of the cheapest things I own.

How long does it take you to use up a fragrance bottle? Have you actually ever used one up?
Over 2 years easy. Too many fragrances to go through.

So far I have only finished around 6-7 bottles. I did give away a fare share of bottles throughout the years tbh.

I have never finished a bottle, not even a mini, and some go back more than 20 years. So I try to buy the smallest sizes available.
Wow...Never?? Man, I recently finished a 50ml that was given to me as a gift just over 4yrs ago. Now, it wasn't something I wore as a daily fragrance much but I did wear it out at night quite a bit one summer. I'm talking about Bvlgari PH Soir, one of the smoothest scents I've ever owned.
With all the expense I'm glad at least my fragrances have lasted years and with a lot of them for many more too come.
Never finished one bottle. One of the very first bottles I bought when I started this hobby was a 100ml Body Kouros and that is still 85% full. In the past 2 years I don't even notice the juice level in bottles depreciating.

the last 2 decades I only owned 3-4 bottles of juice per season, 3-4 100 ml EDT for winter and 3-4 100 ml EDDT for summer, and I used these up regularly, then bought new stuff.

Didn't have a collection per se - only 3-4 bottles at a time.
So I would say for the average EDT user, it will take 5-6 months with 3-4 bottles in his collection.

For the average base noter, I think a 100 ml bottle of EDT juice will last in the region of 5-10 years depending of size of collection and how much the user use that particular juice.
I personally probably will go through a 100 ml EDT every 8-10 year, and my collection is growing with 15-20 bottles a month at the moment......
I have a really small collection of 30 fragrancea and I have not used up to 50% of any bottle so it may last at least 2 years easily.

I bought a bottle of perfume as birthday give to one of my superviser every year --two years ago we worked together as secretaries to the director of our devision. It took him around 6 - 8 months to finish a bottle.
I used to have over 100 full bottles as I'd only buy 3.4 oz's. At that rate it'd probably take me 12 years to go through a bottle. I have 15 fragrances now and by the looks of my collection will take about 2.5 to 3.5 years to go through a 3.4 oz bottle. Anything over 20 full bottles is going to be 10 ml decants. I love fragrances, but I'd much rather own a brand new Porsche, used Ferrari, or Lamborghini instead of thousands of bottles of something perishable.

Seems to me it would take an awful lot of 100 ml bottles to equal one new Porsche...
Used to be around 6 months but now I'm not sure how long it will take. I'm starting to wonder if I'll even get through a 100ml bottle again.
I said 1-2 years. I have a bottle of Habit Rouge EdT that I've used about 1/2 of in 6 months. That will be gone by the end of the year. I also have a 500ml bottle of vintage EdC that I'm using at an even faster rate - maybe 100ml in 9-12 months. I often layer them. I use the EdP and extrait too, but in lower volumes.

My others will last for ages - most get worn about once or twice a month, with a few getting several wears a month. Ones that I will probably drain within 5 years are Egoiste, New York, Ambre Sultan, Mitsouko, and Jicky.

+1 ...

If it is my signature scent 1 1/2 months tops. If I am on vacation 1 month.

I could never be a fan of niche. Can you imagine ? I'd be the best smelling homeless person at the shelter.

This is just too true, that's why decants are so great! (By the way, this guy does an awesome job with splits)
When I wasn't a frag junkie, I only had 4.2 ounce of CK Obsession and that lasted me 4 years. Only after that ran out, I got into fragrances.

Thank God that ran out.

Hello Ruben,

what do you layer your Habit Rouge with most often, other frags or just same frag in perfume and EDT version ?

HAHAHHA!

For me it takes roughly a year to two to finish a 100ml bottle
post #28 of 60
@ all above: and yet they keep buying more and more! haha!
With all the frags I have, still havent used a whole bottle, but I'm gettin' there. Not a 100 ml bottle, though.

The math I'm coming up with is 1000 bottles at an average price of $80 to $100 a bottle. A niche heavy collection even at 500 bottles with and average of $140 per bottle is still $70,000. Might not be a Carrera or Turbo, but it's not going to be a Boxster.
I've yet to finish a bottle. But I have been using fragrances for somewhat less than two years.
I probably won't buy any more FB's because I have about a dozen or so that is taking me a long time to finish. However, is it a lot more expensive per ounce to buy decants compared to just owning a bottle? I know you have to compare prices with different sellers, but has anyone looked in it much? I'd rather have four 1-ounces of different juice than just a 3.4 FB of something since there are so many great scents out there these days.

You know I feel the same way. I've started to buy smaller bottle sizes because I don't like the idea of wearing just one or two fragrances for too long. I think one year is my limit and then I move onto another scent. I aso hate the thought of having a collection of fragrances. I think 4 bottles is enough.
2+ years. Only one that I used full was 50ml of Bulgari Aqua.
Ages.
I've been deep in the fragrance game for about four years and have yet to use up a 100ml bottle. Knowing this, it's easier for me to purchase expensive bottles as I know they're an investment I may have for a decade or so...

How long does it take you to use up a fragrance bottle? Have you actually ever used one up?

It depends on many factors such as how much the atomizer releases with each spray.

It mainly depends on how big your collection is and how often you use your fragrance.

If you have a collection of less than 5 or 10 colognes, you can expect to use most of them up in a few years.

If it is one of your favorites, it could be used up in a year or two.

If its your only cologne and you wear it regularly, probably about a year.

If you are a serious collector and have 50 to 100+ fragrances, most of them will probably never be used up entirely. Half of them will probably never even be used 20%, in your life time.
If I only use one bottle (100ml) it would last 3 months.
I have actually emptied six or seven 100ml fragrances, but back then I had 3-4 fragrances and now I have 20. So I don't see myself using a whole bottle of certain fragrance (Creed in my case) in next 2 yrs.
about a year, I keep a small rotation. If I didn't the wife would kill me lol
post #41 of 60
Used to be a month but now after 5 years maybe.
To me, a 1-2 years minimum, since I alternate scents very often
post #43 of 60
I've only finished 3 bottles of cologne . Chrome, Acqua Di Gio and Unforgivable ... This was before I had any other bottles and each of these were my everyday scent
post #44 of 60
Completely agree on this!
When one uses a normal rotation with, let's say, 50 bottles, it will take years and years.
When owning only two bottles, only some months.

I use for two full wearings (day/evening) like 1.5/2 ml a day average in total, so let's say finishing seven 100ml (3.4 Oz) bottles a year, but you can better say 700ml divided over some different juices.

If it was my only one that I use...that would take like 3 month
but haven,t finished any bottle since i started collecting many perfumes
post #46 of 60
Could be 3 months or never.

I own a lot of bottles and they usually last at least a couple of years, but I've used up several 100ml (or thereabouts) bottles in 3-6 months. That was especially true when I used to wear more Creeds, most of which have the bone structure of a sea cucumber, and I sprayed them a lot in an attempt to get some satisfaction out of them.
In 10,000 years, when aliens are excavating the ruined relics of human civilization, I'm sure they will find all of my bottles still unfinished. I simply cannot imagine ever finishing an entire 100 ml bottle again.
It depends on how you think of it. I would say one every 3-4 months. I have been into this about 3 years and have only "emptied" one bottle, but I have used about 800-900 ml of juice in those three years, thats 300ml a year, so 100ml every 4 months or so...
Before basenotes I only had 3 fragrances. It would take me about a year or more to go through a 3.4 oz bottle. Now that I have a collection that's growing including samples, splits/decants I barely go through any of them.
I have way too many fragrances
Way to long, a better question would be how long does it take for you to use up a 15ml decant?
hmm i've never gone through an entire bottle until i got my burberrys (london & brit)
they were both gifts to me of a higher end fragrance so i love them very much W______W
they are not 100ml bottles but both bottles combined lasted me a few months over a year
edit: i just looked and they are 50 ml bottles ^^

i do have a 100ml bottle of chanel 19 which ive been wearing quite frequently since last december
i havent even dented it, which is great because i love the airs of the fragrance lol
post #53 of 60
A month!! how?

i would say 2-3 years for me
I haven't ever used up a bottle. Some of my older frags (some cheap frags I got as a present) I didn't like any more before using them up. I've almost used up a 30 ml of Bulgari Thé vert extreme, which I still love. Now I don't use it that often any more because I have that many frags.
Whenever I even see a significant decrease in the level of a frag I panick and think of stocking up (fear of reformulation etc. etc.). One of the bottle I see that might be used up relatively quickly is Chanel's Egoiste- I bought it used (only 25 ml) and find it very addictive
post #55 of 60
double post
I've used up over 50 bottles, back in the days when I wasn't collecting and I also used to give away to friends many quarter full bottles after buying new scents but now, as I started to collect again, and especially to stock up on my favorite fragrances (those ones in my wardrobe are only the 100% full bottles, with back ups, most of them sealed in their boxes and untouched) I guess that 100 ML of juice should last about 1 - 2 years.
4 months for finish a 3.4oz bottle if I wear the same fragrance everyday.
Like d4N13L above, I enjoy wearing one fragrance for a few months, so I could through a bottle between 4-6 months.
I only started last summer and still have my bottles. I still have about 70% in the lowest bottle.
Just finished off a 90mL bottle of Spicebomb and it came out just over a month ago. What can I say: I like it. :-)
