Terre D'Hermes

I bought a small sample bottle of this quite a while back, and I just can't seem to wear it. I've put it on my wrist one night to test out, got a lot of pepper. Figured I would try it again, this time on my neck, again, ALL PEPPER, and I ended up washing it off because I was going out and didn't want to smell like that. I am not a fan of peppery scents, they remind me of the dirty kids that I would hope and pray wouldn't sit with me on the bus when I was in elementary school.

Why does this scent get soooooooo much love? I just can't seem to get through the pepper. I don't get citrus hardly at all, and I don't get the drydown that everyone talks about. Maybe it's my sample, I just don't know. But I have a hard time wearing it. I think I have to sample it a few more times, and maybe try to stick through it.

I was going to buy a sample, but thanks for warning me.

I'm not into pepper notes myself either.

Give it a few more tries before you give up on it. It really is a fine scent.

Agreed.

I don't get much pepper, just a little. Even less in the Parfum version.

That is strange, is it the EDT or EDP that you have a sample of? I personally love TdH although I do tend to like peppery scents a lot as well. The pepper mixes to just deepen and "smokify" the citrus and enhances the frag for me. But we all know that not every frag will please everyone, even the ones that get tons of great reviews.

Sorry it didn't work for you and I'm so sorry you didn't buy a large bottle before realizing you didn't like it.. (I will need a new bottle soon) hehehe

I personally get more cedar than anything. The thing with this one is that it takes a considerable amount of time to get to that incredible drydown...hours...

Ditch it and move on. There are thousands more that may appeal to you.

If you mowed your lawn, put the clipping in a juicer, and then poured it on yourself...voila - Terre D'Hermes.

Wanted to like it, but it's a scrubber.

I get zero pepper from TDH. All I smell is orange peel and a little woods. I have the Pure Parfum.

I like it very much but your experience does go to show the wisdom of sampling before buying, even with board favourites.

Apparently, this sophisticated and distinctive fragrance is not for you. Don't try to get it, just move on to the myriad of fragrances waiting for your exploration.

At first I had the exact same feelings towards it but give it a few more tries! It's a well made, unique scent but not quite worthy of all the hype surrounding it (IMO)

I don't get any pepper out of it.

I mainly get plenty of awesome out of it.

I hardly get any pepper out if it. A very good scent, original and with a style and quality. However it's not worthy of raving about it.

It's interesting that I loved it's track (sillage) in the air smelled on a good friend and wanted badly for myself and when I got it, the first reaction was not so good (bitter orange peel with some pepper and grapefruit, ouck!), even if I love peppery-spicy frags. After few wearings I couldn't get enough! and now it's in my top10 all-times. Give it some time...you might find a winner here. If not, don't worry...there are a lot of beauties suitable to your OWN taste, waiting to be discovered. Good-luck!

Never gotten any pepper out of it, but hey. As other people are commenting - there are so many fragrances out there, you should just move on and sample other stuff.

Yes, extremely little pepper for me either. While I think the stuff is incredible, it is not going to appeal to everyone... At least you gave it a try.

Agree.

When I first joined here and tried it , I wasn't a fan. But one winter day I all of a sudden craved the woods in it and went and tried it again and fell for it. It is as close to a signature as I have. All I get out of it if citrus to start followed by beautiful woods and the drydown. Classic...no pepper at all.
