We are doing fine, will be better if BN works all the time, Dr.G.

Feral skunky cats for you this morning? Niiiiiiiiiiice!

The weather is our tundra has been brutal in the last three days -- breaking all the previously existing records with 92F (+33C), still too dry. Working in the kitchen has been ermmmm.... he**ish, especially doing French pastry girl's duties. But we are getting a break starting today -- back to freezing at night, moderate temps during the daytime.

My SotD will be Caron Accord 119.

How's L. doing in Paris?
Mikie, how's the hubby?

And last, I have bumped the Blind Sniffs in 2012 thread -- we need sniffers for the end of April blind sniff. The March sniff is now in progress. I know that if I name the names, I will get some PMs (Why me?), but let me do it anyway: I think the best guys for that will be Auntie Knit (because she's due to one, I thought, in terms of brushing up)and Cestrum Nocturnum (with her smiling garden and a natural knack for a good metaphor). If there are other people willing to sniff, you are welcome too! Saripatates is hosting. There are some people preferring to hide in the shades, like shades, Mimi and JR (of course I have to say this name).

Good morning! My SOTD is Penhaligons LP No 9 for Men.

Good afternoon everyone!

What a mgnificent looking creature Gandhajala.

Twolf, are you in Abu Dhabi? Its almsot like you're describing our neck of the woods err desert.
Waking up to civet, thank you gandhajala, I'll have mine with vanilla...today it will be my vintage Shalimar extrait because I am addicted to its beauty. It's been shut up since 1967 and I am here to liberate her.

Good afternoon all,
Missed you guys...
Today is Cuir de Lancome selected because when I went to the sample drawer I realized it must be leaking....so use it before I lose it. No big deal as I bought a bottle cheapo!. You know what though I am going to have to restrict my access to the 'sample drawer' as it inevitably ends up with some purchase or another! I shall declare on the purchase thread when goodies arrive.

I have read threads when possible and notice there is a mixed bag of fortunes here the last few days...mikeperez hope your hubby is on the mend and back home soon...all the best to you.

and so we're back,
in cyber space,
I just popped by this way,
to say hello and mark my place....la la lahhhh etc.
I dreamed of smelling orange blossoms on the tree last night...and woke up wishing to be smelling them in person.

SotD is FdO of course.
Today: My new gorgeous bottle of DZING!. I will spray it with abandon and wade among the populace of my students wafting waves of scent that I can only hope might open their minds--which is better than hitting them over the head with the bottle. Maybe.
Happy birthday, Nukapai!

Oh, what a lovely, poetic thought!! xo

Thanks to whatever viral thing I have, I slept most of yesterday away which had zero effect on my being able to fall asleep last night; I slept like a log and thus feel more like myself today. My son, on the other hand, got it worse than I did. I've got all the windows open and am spraying down everything that won't move with Lysol.

SOTD is Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Vanille. Far from being merely a plain foody vanilla, its citrusy notes up top dry out some of the sweetness and lend a pleasing astringency. I also get an intriguing note of wet stones or wet pavement which adds a bit of complexity. Lovely stuff.

notes include bergamot, lemon, heliotrope, vanilla, Australian sandalwood, vanilla absolute

Take care, everyone!

Hello everyone!

I'm in Cartier's So Pretty this morning; I'll be playing piano for the tiny ballerinas today so I'm curious what they'll think of it, and they're not shy about voicing their opinions, lol. It's funny that I've been keeping that in mind when selecting my fragrance on work days ...I apparently want to impress these little ladies!

Y'all have a fantastic day!

I'm glad to know you're feeling better tdem - sending healing thoughts to your son now!

I am going to join Whwend in Cuir de Lancome today. We had buckets of rain last night, which was much needed, but it has cooled off the weather a bit.

Let's hope our spotty BN stays up and running.

Back again, are we? I can live without the features and reviews but not being able to chat with my BN buddies really hurts!

Sampling Dans tes Bras today and wow, it is a weird one! I see why it's hard to love for many; the sharp opening of bergamot giving way to violets and skanky skin is very reminiscent of the classic Guerlain style. Not crazy about the sharp and prickly cashmeran note but I'm no great lover of woods anyway. Now that the woods have settled in, I'm really liking this. Can't see a bottle in my future but I don't agree with all the hate DtB gets, either. Will definitely be wearing this some more.

Hello everyone. How nice to see you. What happened to Ray? Is he OK? I must go back and check.

I'm in Esvedra today, another *pouf* and its gone fragrance but I like it. I just reapply.

Nukapai Many Happy returns, have a lovely day.

Tdem1961. Poor girl, take it easy if you can.

Have a lovely day of celebration .

It's NADA for me this morning as I am getting a headache and I am hoping to stop it in its tracks.

Wearing Cologne Sologne and a wee frown due to posterior vitreous detachment of the eye. Aging has its bennies and its trials.

Many healthy returns of the day, Nukapai.

Hi all,

Sticking with the civet vibe and joining alityke in Jicky (extrait) this evening.
Hanging around airport, waiting to collect my mother. Love mobile internet

Best to all.

Hello everyone...today I'm treated to a ridiculous amount of Petroleum...

R., I love the idea of your liberating that vintage Shalimar.

(((Quarry))), hope that gets better soon.

Happy Birthday to Nukapai!

Im wearing a dab of Bourbon French musk today.
Hello all. No. 5 Eau Première was SotD, and a I have a spritz of Shalimar Parfum Intial L'Eau on the back of my hand from a sample. So far, it really does seem like just a lighter version of the original. Will test them side by side tomorrow if I remember.

Hope those feeling under the weather get well soon. And a very Happy Birthday to Nukapai!

KarmaLee - personally I'd choose hitting my students over the head with the bottle - or in my case, a nice hefty textbook (which they should have read, but never do ....)
Happy Birthday Nukapai!

And I have a personal BN holiday -- today it's two years since I joined
I am NOT wearing sample B from March Blind sniff -- if you read the sniffers' expressions, you will understand why. I am at work, having to do a talk for grad students, then a lunch talk, then a class. Back to back, ugh. I am wearing Crystal Flowers by Montale again on this rainy Spring day on the Wet Coast.

Much love to you, folks, and I will join my voice to Wolfie's without naming names -- anyone who wants to know a little more about their sniffing can have fun at a Blind Sniff, and we do need folks to sniff in April.
((hugs)) to Mimi

Congrats to Warum
Devilcat I found Shalimar PI L'Eau more legible than Shalimar PI. The top notes, whilst still unpleasant, were way less unpleasant in L'Eau than in PI to my nose and the L'Eau got into that beautiful heart more quickly and stayed there longer. Interesting idea to do a side by side. Might do that myself
post #36 of 59
L'Arte di Gucci by Gucci is getting some love today....

Alas TWOLF- As I told Warum in a PM, April is just not good for me to be a blind sniffer.

Happy BN anniversaire Warum!
Wearing PotL Luctor et Emergo from a sample, wanted something different. Anyone know of a good dupe for this? I've always liked it, never wanted to spend that much on something that is mostly cherry almond on my skin.

Hey y'all -

I'm in Lemon Alien again ...I think it's becoming an addiction! But it's inspired me to bake lemony treats, so I'm going to use the last of the Meyer lemons from my parents tree to make a mile-high lemon meringue pie. Or maybe a lemon pound cake. Or both!

Oh, Auntie knit, please come and have a seat by me ....you smell incredible!
jacona - I haven't smelled it, but Bathed & Infused has a dupe of Luctor et Emergo called "The Lost". Although I don't know their perfumes, I have tried their body lotions and creams (their "fluffs", too, lol) and they're pretty nice and very affordable, so that might be worth a try.
Alityke and Jon- thanks - the headache has been banished ! Woo hoo ! I'm now in Acqua Viva by Profumum.

Happy BN 2nd Anniversary to Warum!

It was a beautiful Autumn day here, I wore Anne Pliska.
Lol!! Robin and 30Roses - sorry if I confused you! I mentioned in yesterday's thread that "Lemon Alien" is Tony's (the hubs) name for it, and I think it's catchy, and accurate, and quicker than Alien Sunessence Légère edt, plus it's not the only Alien Sunessence anyway ...thus, Lemon Alien. But it is very nice and I'd highly and happily recommend it, especially if you already know and at least like Alien, because this is definitely Alien, with lemon. But the lemon isn't tart like the juice, it's smooth and luscious like the peel ...just like limoncello. I'm smitten.

LOL at Hedonist, you know -- it is not Abu Dhabi, naha.

BellaRose, this fact never seizes to amaze me -- we are here in the spring and you guys, downunder, are in the autumn. And then there is the peak of winter -- June of all things. Sorry, but I feel like an 8-year-old, again. And always. Wow.

Have a good evening, dears.
