Which fragrance for taking a shower?

Hi all, ill be jumping in the shower after dinner tonight and I wanted to see what others like to spray before getting all cleaned up? Which one will wash off quicker? I like smelling good before a nice hot shower. Im on the fence between DHI and New Haarlem.

I'd go with DHI, but only if it's the hard to find silver collar version. You want to use it sparingly and only for special occasions such as taking a nice hot shower. Puredistance M, Sean Jean Unforgivable Multi-Platinum, and vintage M7 are other great choices. My shower scent tonight will probably be my Lucky Scents sample of Invasion Barbare.

Not RIGHT before taking a shower. That would be silly! I usually wait about 20 minutes after spraying before jumping in the shower so that I can get some of the drydown.

Now this is NEW... I am learning new thing everyday . Got to love this thread.... LOL.
Have never done this and don't reckon I ever would.
Hmm...I don't really get this...I like to spray my fragrance on AFTER the shower, maybe that's just me. But you enjoy your pre-shower spritz all you want.

Several layers deep.

I don't know why you'd want to waste your cologne if you're just going to shower. But, if that's what you want to do, I would think scents like Lacoste Essential or Tom Ford Grey Vetiver would suit being covered in water. From memory, CK Truth for Men had a grassy, almost linen like smell on my skin the drydown but I haven't worn that in years.

Good luck

The classic eaux de cologne from Guerlain are said to be for use in taking a bath.
It won't wash off quickly, but if you want to get really clean, spray on Secretions Maginfique...but you may have to take a 24 hour shower to get the icky mess off!
Green Irish Tweed is my signature before-shower scent.
My goodness, washing off the scent right after spraying it seems counterproductive and wasteful. Especially since the body wash you use is more than likely incompatible with the cologne you just sprayed on.

Ohhhhhh..........

When I take a shower I usually scrub my body well enough to get any other scents off. Lol

I R cornfuzed

This notion seems a bit odd to me, but hey, to each their own. Spray on some Prada Infusion D'Homme, where the opening is really the best part, wash with some Mugler cologne body wash, and spray on some Rive Gauche when you get out.

haha same here. Full body scrub and exfoliation and all that good stuff. I don't understand the spray before shower

I realized that I had quickly begun to descend into madness as I joined my first few splits, but I will not, I cannot stoop to applying a fragrance just prior to the shower.
No!
It's too much I say!
I wouldn't want to spray before a shower or bath, but I guess it's one way of using up your wardrobe. Chacun a son gout and all that
post #25 of 71
One day I hope to get the courage to apply a scent 20 minutes before a shower. I value them too much, I guess.
Yesterday I sprayed some Chergui +/- 30 minutes before I took a shower.
I took off my clothes and my brother's girlfriend walked in. I forgot to lock the door.
"Oh my God you smell so good.", she said.

You learn something new every day.

So wait- pre-shower sprayers: What about after the shower? Do you use the same perfume, or do you then use something different?

From my personal experiences, I've found heavier scents like Tobacco Vanille or A*Men to be best for this. Sometimes I'll put on a lighter scent and I have trouble smelling it over the body wash before it gets washed off so that's no good. Also, it's good to have something with some longevity in case you wake up and realize that you actually sleepwalked to a random street and have to find your way home. In those cases, it may be hours before you get in the shower and it's nice to be able to smell your fragrance the whole time. I actually keep a decant of A*Men on me at all times for this very reason.

I figured this thread was tongue-in-cheek.

Funnily enough, I actually do this sometimes. I want to just get a taste of something to satisfy a craving, so I spray it on my wrist to sniff for 15-30 minutes. Then I shower and wear my evening scent.

Is it a waste? I get satisfaction from it, and it's usually just one spray. I think of it as an appetizer.

Granted, I don't do this with my most expensive fragrances.
I take a shower to get ready for subsequently applying a fragrance, however not be washed off during showering

However, it does happen that my respective SOTD/SOTE etc. while being in the shower gets to generate a few last interesting "sillage traces", activated by the combination between the scent on one hand and water, body wash, bar soap etc. on the other

NO, ...instead of a bath.
Never sprayed pre shower. 16 sprays of Kouros works a treat in an overcrowded steam room though.
Any scent will do. Unless I take a shower with a girl/mate, then I will put on Le Male to ensure that they'll drop their panties first.

Tongue in cheek I would advise You to consider an aquatic. But, as You stated after dinner seriously said a gourmand will suit the situation better. Wether DHI or NH, who could tell without knowing the menue? Garlic or not - French or not?

My personal experience with experiments like such is this. Hot water revives a perfume, even a lavender could come up again.

Should have suggested in the first place, don't stay that long on the fence with further questions.

I bought a gift set of Sisley Eau de Campagne body wash and Eau de Toilette before Christmas. It's a treat to use a bit of the wash in the shower and then finish with the scent after. There's a lotion too. Layering this way gives more dimension to the scent. But only use a good one, guys. Don't ruin it all with a cheap body wash. I think most women already know all about this. As for applying fragrance before a shower, I simply don't get the point of that. I like scented products, but only those made specifically for washing. Pears soap for my body and Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap for my footsies. Rosemary or Lavender shampoo and conditioner.

My shower stall itself does love a spritz of Method Ylang Ylang Daily Shower Natural Shower Cleaner after I get out. It makes my whole bathroom smell lovely.

You guys made me laugh! Great gag thread.
wow seems like a waste of a fragrance... Could never do that
post #46 of 71
Maybe this whole thread is going over my head like a bulimic on a see-saw.
This is a very sad day...
I assumed this whole thread was a joke...but actually, for me showering after one of my frags is a must:

Terre d'Hermes.

The top notes are just too much for me. This one is so powerful on me, I sometimes spray it 20 minutes before a shower, then try to wash it off, and what lingers is something I find way more pleasing.
Well, I usually still have the drydown of whatever I wore that morning or the previous day (depending on when I am showering), so it would end up being a layering thing. Not to mention it would be a ridiculous practice. But that won't stop me from trying it now that the idea has been put in my head, lol. Even if this is a gag thread!
Are you really serious about this??
I'm a bit scared of how you guys have a lot of money to spend :|
I'd never spray something to take a shower right after...
I don't mean no disrespect, though :]
I was so confused whenI first read the title. After reading the thread, it didnt help but added on to the confusion
post #52 of 71
It's a sort of amuse-nez.

I like to spray while in the shower. It gives a whole new dimension to the fragrance.
Difficult to give a proper response without knowing what you're going to be using to wash your fragrance off with. You definitely don't want a clash of notes between the frag and the soap or it'll ruin your whole experience.
Opium pour Homme EDP, of course.
-_-
Before shower fragrance? Only on basenotes...
Memoir Man... gotta get that stuff off of me before the drydown. Seems like any frag with nice topnotes and a crappy base would work fine. So that's most modern frags...
Wow you guys took it to another level! lol
I don't do it but I kinda get it ..
Me, personally, I like to dab on some Iris Gris before I shower.
