Armani Code or Rochas Man?

Which do you guys prefer? I know that these two aren't exactly close, but I think they're similar enough to pick only one as a favorite.

I am vanilla lover so Rochas Man is obvious choice. I had both but sold Black Code - it is nice and versatile but doesnt suit my personality.

Rochas Man.

Rochas Man.

For overall scent and price -- Rochas Man.

If you like vanilla more go with the Rochas (sweet, gourmand fragrance, has a cappuccino vibe, but even if you are not a coffee lover you might enjoy, I know I fit that bill). Armani Code has more of a leathery, sensual vibe. Neither is a projection/longevity monster, so it really boils down to which style you like more. Also one thing to point out, Rochas will probably get you standing out more than Code (Armani's crazy popular let's just say, while Rochas is completely unknown in the U.S.A. ), and Rochas is also much, much cheaper. Personally, I like Rochas Man more.

Both are actually pretty good, but by comparison, Rochas definitely

I like both, but I'd go with Rochas Man

Rochas Man

Rochas Man for sure...

Rochas Man by a nose.

I tried Givenchy Play Intense a while ago, and that's supposedly got a major coffee note in it. I didn't really smell that much coffee (which is a good thing), is Rochas Man like that? I don't really want to smell like I spilled a cappuccino.

I kept Rochas and sold Code. Code is nice but there are better.

Hmm, I mean you get the coffee note in Rochas irregardless. Vanilla's there, but the coffee note you cannot miss. Raspberries are also detectable, but the coffee vibe is present no doubt. Rochas does have that sweet, cappuccino vibe. If that ain't your thing, Rochas might not be for you. But then again like I said. I hate the smell of normal coffee, and am not a coffee drinker at all, yet Rochas is very charming to me (despite me detecting some coffee notes in it).

I have both and like both, but prefer Rochas Man
post #19 of 51
neither one but if I'd be forced to choose, then Armani Code

Rochas man.........Midnight in Paris makes Code irrelevant IMO (they're quite similar) for the record I'd pick MIP over either

+1. That's a great choice. Easily can be gotten for cheaper that Armani Code as well.

Another vote for Rochas Man...
I honestly prefer the smell of Code slightly, but in terms of versatility, I prefer Rochas.
I am not too keen on gourmands, and I do like the way Code smells on my skin in the drydown so Code by a nose..

Rochas Man

I think Rochas Man is better than Code, but having just purchased a bottle of Givenchy Play Intense I like it much better than either one of these. It's like A*men without the negatives, Rochas Man without the synthetic sweetness, a sexier version of Code and Attitude, and easier to wear then New Haarlem.
rochas was always cloying to my nose while code was tolerable and actually pretty nice but nothing outstanding

that synthetic sweetness was always cloying for me for the first two hours before i cant smell it anymore
post #29 of 51
Between the Code and Rochas, I'd pick the latter.
I think Rochas is a better scent but personally, I don't like smelling like coffee and Danish cookies all day. It's nice enough and very wallet-friendly, but if gourmands aren't your thing, pass. Code is a little more versatile imho, but I think its popularity has spawned enough smell-a-likes that I would seek an alternative, but that's just my thoughts. Rochas is cheap enough to not regret a purchase, Code not so much.

I agree. It doesn't show in the notes, but the sweetness reminds me of the heliotrope in Diesel Fuel for Life.

Armani Code FTW
I have both and prefer Rochas Man.
Rochas man, about a fourth of the prize too
post #35 of 51
Had code then rochas but prefer code somehow
post #36 of 51
Rochas man is way better for the price especially since I love gourmands.
From the two, I like Code better. But I wouldn't waste my money on Armani Code, I would rather get Midnight in Paris, which is cheaper too.
rochas for me.

You find the two smell alike ? MIP and Code I mean ??

Rochas Man.

Definitely Rochas Man for me.

Then you probably wont like Rochas. It has big mocha/coffee note (atleast on my skin). On my mother it is more vanilla than mocha.

Rochas Man is worth purchasing - Armani Code is not.
I like the Rochas. Never (knowingly) smelled Code. Like 1 Million, etc, it's a bit too common to consider. Then again, reading these boards, I wonder how common Rochas Man is. Seems quite popular too.

Do you have a special template that you just copy and paste the names of two fragrances into to keep posting this message?
Might I suggest you add three little words to the end of it:
" IN MY OPINION."
I like both, but I would tend towards Rochas Man, simply because, in my opinion, it has a slight bit more maturity, complexity, edginess, development over time, warmth and a few more other olfactory delights not so easy to grasp within Armani Code

Took the words off of my fingers.
Armani Code. I didn't like Rochas synthetic coffee sweetness very much. Sorry. Still Egoiste beats both 100-0
post #49 of 51
midnight in paris is nice but not something i would want to wear. Rochas is just too synthetic and cloying for me so code
post #50 of 51
Rochas Man Hands down. I don't know what it is about code but it has an odd note in it. Maybe the olive branch note. Code is growing on me though. Rochas Man just smells good without any strange notes.
Rochas Man. I've tested Code but found it so nondescript I couldn't justify buying it at that price

I agree you should consider Play Intense as an alternative
