The Best Neroli?

Thread Starter
I just realized how much I love neroli as a note in fragrances and was wondering what some of your faves are that have good projection/longevity.

I was at Neiman Marcus a few weeks ago and got a sample of a Molton Brown shower gel called "Vitalising Vitamin AB+C" and loved it. Found out it was the neroli I was mainly sensing. I was hoping Molton Brown had fragrances which they do and might give "Vitalising Vitamin AB+C eau Fraîche" a try, but it would be a blind buy.

Other fragrances that I like that have the prominent neroli note are-

Neroli Portofino
Mugler Cologne
Bond's Fire Island

Any other ones I should look into?

C&S Neroli is very nice and worth checking out.

C&S Neroli is very nice.

Edit: Great minds think alike

Try Neroli Sauvage also.

I really, really like Atelier Cologne's Grand Neroli.

Neroli Sauvage by Creed
Ô de l'Orangerie by Lancome
Eau de Neroli by Chloé

I don't think I that I know exactly what Neroli smells like in and of itself, but have you tried Bond no 9 Little Italy? It has a prominent Neroli...along with other citrus.

Try MFK APOM

Neroli Sauvage by Creed, one of the best summer scents.

I very unwisely obtained a sample of Profumum's Neroli (which is an edp strength). I now must force wide the jaws of my wallet to accommodate this newly arrived craving. I must.

Currently enjoying Neroli 36 by Le Labo its worth checking out.
One of my favourites with a great neroli note: Prada Amber PH.
Not a big neroli fan.. but I find Grand Neroli to have the best and most natural smelling neroli note.
In the designer world, I'd say JV Artisan, JPG Fleur du Male, or Versace pH.

Xerjoff Kobe
I have Apom pour homme and Neroli Portofino, however I'm sampling Kobe right now and in term of quality you can tell it's really really good.. Def worth checking this one.
Apom and neroli portofino has very good longevity, don't know about the Xerjoff's yet..
I'd say Kobe right now, but need to take more time with it just to be sure lol

If you like neroli and clean scents (evidenced by your favor of Mugler Cologne), you may want to look into Prada Infusion D'Homme. A nice clean neroli, and has a really intriguing 'sparkling' opening. The drydown is fairly linear, but linear in a very fresh clean white t-shirt way. I picked up a 200ml tester for like $40.

Neroli Sauvage by Creed
Fahrenheit 32 by Dior

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have some serious sampling to do.

Xerjoff Kobe. Its not an overwhelming neroli. Perfect for those that enjoy neroli in more compact representations.

Another vote for Neroli Portofino !

Fleur du Male by Jean Paul Gaultier in either its EdT or EdC strengths.
Rochas Lui, if you can find it. Neroli and cedar. Discontinued, has gotten very expensive.
Eau de Guerlain. A rather classic cologne that lasts a bit longer than others in this genre.

Here are my votes;

Crown Imperial
Creed Neroli Sauvage
Art of Shaving Lemon (The Original Version as I believe its been reformulated)

Downright shocked that this masterpiece hasn't been mentioned more in this thread. The vintage is by far my favorite "wet neroli" of all time. C&S neroli is also a very good "wet neroli". The best "dry neroli" I think are PdN's Cologne Sologne and Xerjoff Kobe. Creed's Neroli Saucage is a good mid ground between dry and wet.

These are all designers as Copenhagen is a baren wasteland when it comes to Niche or even quasi-niche

The JPG Fleur du Males
Prada Infusion d'Homme (My SOTD actually)

Fahrenheit 32 as a far outsider

Where I live, it is quite affordable in drugstores and pharmacy chains.

I've checked the net a bit more and it's affordable for international shipping to almost any destination either on Italian-themed fragrance/cosmetics websites or simply on Amazon.

Kobe 5*
Neroli Portofino 5*
Grand Neroli 4*
Neroli Sauvage 3*
C&S Neroli 3*

Thank you. A little high for a blind buy for me but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Does anyone else think that Castile and Neroli Portofino smell crazy similar? haha I just smelled the Tom Ford today and was pretty surprised how similar they were. I like both.
I'll throw in another +1 for Labo Neroli 36... there's other stuff going on in there, and it has monster longevity, like scary chemical longevity (1+week on a card that fills my room with the smell)
Neroli Portofino
Eau De New York
Mugler Cologne
Fire Island
Infusion D'Homme
Heeley Orange and Lemons

Grand Neroli I liked but, dried down with too much vanilla and Fleur Du Male is orange blossom, very indolic and not your fresh neroli

Those are the 2 neroli's I own.

For me Neroli Portofino is the better of the two by far.

I think that I too like Portofino better, but it also costs twice as much. Castile is great, but I can't stand the first few minutes after spraying. Just something that doesn't agree with me in that opening burst. After that it's great. Portofino is pretty linear to me but plenty of the scent that I like. I might have to splurge for a bottle.
Xerjoff Kobe is the most interesting one IMO

Forgot all about Castile....That;s another great neroli, and IMHO, far better representation of the Bitter Orange Flower than Neroli Portofino's plasticky, dirty interpretation.
I've actually been wearing my sample spray of Neroli Portofino and while I really like it, seems like the projection and longevity isn't as good as Castile. This seems strange since it's an EDP vs EDT
post #52 of 76
I love the overall beauty and composition of Neroli Sauvage. The woods and ambergris polish the neroli and make it shine. However, for a straight up neroli, I agree that Neroli Portofino is very nice. I'm wearing my sample of it.
Shoot!!!!! I was just at the Creed counter on Saturday and should have sampled Neroli Sauvage!
Creed Neroli Sauvage is fine. Amouage Reflection also worth considering.
Tom Ford Neroli Portofino all the away!
Villoresi Aqua di Colonia has an excellent neroli note. My favorite neroli fragrance is Aqua di Colonia.
Is there anywhere to get a sample of Neroli Portofino?
Neroli Annick Goutal
Fleurs d'Oranger Serge Lutens
I'm leaning towards getting some Neroli Portofino...

I've never smelled Neroli Sauvage, but I want to get something asap, as I'm only gonna wear this stuff in the summer months. For Creed, I always think of Original Vetiver in this category. If I had to compare something to Neroli Portofino, it'd be OV. But how does Neroli Sauvage compare to OV and NP?

Thanks all

I got a sample of By Kilian Sweet Redemption the other day.
My grandma used to put neroli and honey in her tea. Sweet Redemption smells kinda the same as those teas: Sweet and fresh. Very much worth a try if you like neroli.
