Welcome home Larimar. Hope your trip was fantastic.

I have managed to get up and walk a few yards this morning -
thanks for all your healing vibes and good wishes.

My first stop was my perfume cabinet for a spritz of Idylle edt.

Larimar! Yay!
I think I am going to wear No. 19 to work today. This could be a mistake butI am doing it.

Thank you all for your kind welcome back and thoughts while I was away (Wolfie, Mims, PerfumedLady). I had a FANTASTIC time in Paris, ate deliciously (a lot), did squeeze in more perfume trails in my agenda than foreseen - Guerlain, Maitre Parfumeur, Caron, Francis Kurkdjian, Serge Lutens / Palais Royale. I will be back with a boring much of information and thoughts soon. No scent of the day yet as I am lying in the hot bath tub typing this. My SotD will be Vega, which I fell madly and crazily in love with on the spot... and this comes from me, who does not really like No. 5 Vega is already decanted and ready to be spritzed. While we are at it... I also bought Eau pour le Jeune Homme ( Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier )... huh, I feel so flattered (I found MY Eau de Cologne) and Francis Kurkdjian's Elixirs de Lumiere Noire Femme. Needless to say, I was a bad boy exceeding my budget... Smooches and hugs all around (if welcome)! Poor kewart, I wish your time of being painfree again was coming up right now! Best wishes!

L., happy to have you too, with or without us. Was it dry and sunny and not too hot? Have the trees started leafing yet? What was the color the Parisiennes were choosing most this spring besides black, beige or light aqua blue or both? Tell us all, please!

Kewart, glad to hear about your improvement. One day at a time, right?

Kiliwia, please accept my hug -- I have seen you in my dream last night. We both came to our restaurant and you were looking for a particular salad dressing on the shelves of a back room, it had to have orange blossom and honey in it, to no avail. Fancy that.

L'Artisan Parfumeur Fleur de Narcissus on me this AM.

Hello everyone - greetings from the Emerald Coast!

I'm usually not an early riser, but when I'm here I like to get up with the sun, when I have the whole beach to myself for my morning run ...2.5 miles east and back again, and I didn't pass a soul. I was in, and still am, another Alien flanker, Sunessence Or d'Ambre, which Tony has already dubbed "Beach Alien." He wanted to call it "Marc Jacobs Alien", but I pointed out that the gardenia he was getting is actually jasmine ...but it has a definite tropical feel due to the orchid, or maybe the kiwi, and it is admittedly, quite reminiscent of gardenia, as well as Marc Jacobs. At any rate, it smells absolutely sublime in the soft and balmy sea air.

Welcome back Larimar! I'm glad you had a great time ...but that's really no surprise now, is it?

Evangeline, what a lovely pic. Did you take that one this morning?

Im glad to read Kewart is doing a little better. Hoping for a full recovery for you soon.

Im wearing Jo Malones White Lilac & Rhubarb this morning, for April Floral Sniff n Speak (thank you, 30 Roses!). This is a truly lovely, modern lilac, and I highly recommend it to lovers of lilac fragrances.

Welcome, Shahor!

Thanks again so much! Wolfie, the weather was dry, sunny and warm at first, later a bit hazy, foggy/overcast, then hazy/sunny again but cooler. I noticed Parisien/nes mainly waering timeless chic classics (not colorful), a lot slim fit style. Many people smoking on the streets (same in Vienna) and I have to confess - smoking (I for myself strictly limited) is uber-chic. I have always felt so. There I have said it. I smelled an occasional nice perfume, but mainly mainstream synthetic vanilla. I would say Paris is slightly more fragrant than Vienna overall and quite so when one considers men only. Hey, I did not feel 'metrosexual' or whatever the heck for a long time. I *HATE* about Vienna that people pay so little attention to their looks, style, perfume... just all! Many trees had their foliage out already and in fact, the horse chestnut trees were in full bloom (amazing for beginning of April!!).
More tomorrow about restaurants and an extra perfume thread soon... now, a bottle of red and a plate full of chevres (that look as if they were totally off ) etc.etc.
More Vega for tonight. mcrlmind has a superb review on this here. I feel it belongs to a No. 5 and Arpege family, but the ylang-ylang dominance brings it more into Cuir de Russie/ Bois des Iles territory for me. It wears as if it was an EdP version of Cuir de Russie. It starts off very harsh, austere and leathery on me. AMAZING! I can't stop sniffing my wrist...
xxx.

Must rush out to family Easter get-together: colored eggs, candy, good food, but mostly the whole family celebrating making it through a very hard winter.

Welcome Back to those who have been gone, and good wishes to those still healing.

Today, I am in a Shalimar mood: layering my vintage extrait, with some vintage edt, a spritz of Shalimar Light, and the new pink one on my celedon linen dress, white cardigan, and small Hermes scarf. I will waft around in quantum waves of Shalimar today. This day seems perfect for the scent: it is sunny (citrus top notes) with spring flowers in full bloom (bloomy middle) with some newly turned dirt from the garden (that Guerlainade-ish note) and still a bit nippy so the warm vanilla soothes.

And I smell so good the man in my life just nuzzled me and mussed my dress. That will teach me to Shalimar my world!

Healing wishes for all who don't feel well!
Welcome back, Larimar!
Have fun, Evangeline!

Ive been away from Basenotes for some days...
Trying to save my business, driving the girls to school and lessons
and keeping up with everything thats happening in Greece these days
leaves me no time for other things!

The good news is that, after a lot of effort and studying,
my eldest daughter got her Abitur certificate this week.
(she goes to the German school).
She is very happy because, after getting some bad grades during
the past two years, she didnt believe she could get a good final grade...
Everything worked out fine in the end Had this happened another time,
she could go to any University she wanted in Germany,
but now it isnt possible anymore and she must also take the Greek exams
(which are a hundred times more difficult) and try to get the grades
for a University in Athens

The last three days I am wearing
Nuda Parfum Extrait - Nasomatto
,
from a sample I keep in my bag.

Good morning/afternoon ( ) everyone. Despite all the snow that has fallen the last few days ( about half a meter I would say) today feels a lot more springlike. Must be the sun and the melting of snow. Today has been a good day so far. My brother called and came over earlier. We then went to the citycentre for some coffee. Later me and my youngest sister will probably go out for a few beers ( She just turned 20 and wanted to go to one of the more "grown up" pubs) For S'n'S I'm in Midnigt Violet. I really love this scent!!!! I WISH Serena would bring it back....Healing vibes going Kewarts way, good luck wishes to Mimi and welcome back to Larimar. Paris is defenitely on my short list of places to go next...
Ooh, Karma Lee, you smell divine! Mussed dresses are the risk one takes with Shalimar.

Larimar, welcome home! Can't wait to hear more, esp. about your Vega; such a big step outside the box for you! So glad you had fun!

Mimi, good luck. Smart gal, not taking any chances on ruining a favorite scent.

Skipping out on SnS to begin my cologne sampling binge. Inspired by my love for Wooznib's Orange Cologne. Started off with Guerlain Cologne du 68, which is happy and sparkly like Orange Cologne. Unfortunately, it isn't as interesting or edgy as OC to my nose. The cheerfulness in Orange Cologne is well balanced by a darker side and if I add another EDC to my collection, it will need that same vibe. Cologne du 68 is just too sweetly floral on me, not getting the light/dark contrast I love. Right now, I'm very grateful that I have plenty of OC to last me awhile! Next sample please!

Seriously, if anyone else is considering a cologne for summer, don't buy anything without sampling Garner James' Orange Cologne!
I'm wearing By Kilian Love and Tears, Surrender today for SnS-floral version.

A little OT, but I wanted to share! I have looked high and low for a vintage bunny vase ... and while this one isn't exactly what I wanted, this bunny was too charming to leave behind. I found the pink roses at the grocery store marked down to $5 for a dozen. This picture was taken on my front porch, but the bunny is now residing in my foyer. She is wishing everyone a happy holiday!

Well done Larimar! Glad you made it to Maison FK too! I wish I had the heart to drag my DH there in March but he is "not into" scent. BTW, if anyone wants to organize a Paris (or Grasse) meet-up, I am all in.
Welcome back, Larimar! Glad to hear you had a good trip.

(((Twolf and Mimi)))

Twolf, that's a pretty interesting dream you had, lol, orange blossom and honey dressing sounds interesting. Sure enough there are recipes for it, I'll have to give them a try sometime!

Mimi, I'm doing fine, just been busy with some projects at home that I wanted done by Easter, so I haven't been around very much lately.

I lost my avatar when I was trying to change it, so a word of warning, don't try to change your avatar or profile picture til they get the problem of uploading them fixed.

My SotD and also in sync, is Cartier Baiser Vole. Lovely lilies, what could be better or more perfect for the season?

Kiliwia - I'm glad you're okay ! many hugs back.
Lilybelle - thanks for thinking of me .
The ladies on this board are truly the best . Lots of love to everyone .

All went okay with the Drs and now I can enjoy the Easter weekend and the lovely sun out today .

Since If by Apothia has faded and the Drs visit is over , I can spray on Fleurs d 'Oranger by SL ! It's perfect for today and lifts my spirits .

yes, welcome back Larimar- Enjoy your scent souvenirs and looking forward to more about the food tomorrow

Startng the day off in a spritz from an ancient bottle of Marilyn Miglin's "Tuber Tubereuse" from a 4 scent set she either copied or paid homage to Jo Malone.

Welcome back, Larimar! Missed you! and owe you a PM since the time I have put my life on hold

Good Evening,

Congrats on a great haul, Larimar!
*Dora* - Congrats to your daughter. My sincerest sympathies though with regards the country's bleak future. It seems Greece and Spain really are facing some terribly difficult times. Anyway, fingers crossed she can get onto the course she wants.

SotE is MKK.
Best to all.
Oh Larimar - your trip to Paris sounds fantastic (I'm super jealous!) and while I never have enjoyed No. 5 or Vega, now your descriptions have motivated me to try it next time I'm at a Guerlain counter. Is Vega very aldehydic, as I remember it?
Kewart - a few yards is okay, do more tomorrow and more the next - slowly, but surely.
Evangeline - wasn't it just a picture perfect day in Florida today? I had breakfast with Ray down the street, at one of his favorite restaurants, and then when I got home I couldn't resist getting sun in the backyard (even though our landscaper was cutting the grass...I felt sort of guilty just lying there while he was sweating and working...oh well), and the smell of cut grass is always a treat, isn't it?
Lilybelle and Kilwia - you both have put me in a lily mood, I think later on, when I head over to my family's house for a mini family reunion we're having today I'll wear the only lily I like, Anais Anais.
Shadesofbleu - the vintage bunny vase is great, love the roses...a classy and stylish Easter decoration!

This morning, in the sweltering heat, it felt good to spray on:

Anbar (Series 4: Cologne) by Comme des Garcons

I call it the poor-man's Neroli Portofino by T Ford. It's not as juicy as the NP top notes, but besides that it is very close and does that modern-4711 thing so well.
KarmaLee, that was an evocative and enjoyable post.

Today my second-to-oldest daughter and I both (independently) dressed in different colleges' "advocate" shirts (GLBTetc organizations, pro-love groups I always think of these as; the world can always use more love) and Body Shop Mango lotion and Jailia We are very synchronized.

Hey y'all -

I've got the day's sand and surf off me now, and I'm in Ysatis for the evening. Have a wonderful night, everyone!

Thanks Wolfie, thanks *dora*! Yes indeed mike, the entire day was simply gorgeous, and I'm counting on more of the same for the entire week!

lilybelle - Tony took that pic the last time we were here, but it's exactly the same spot where I started my run this morning so I thought I'd use it. We had actually been up all night and decided we might as well wait for the sunrise ...I think it was worth it, even if just for that photo. I'm glad you like it!

Shades, that is a very charming bunny. I love her.

Mike, I’m glad my username inspires you to wear lily.

Evangeline, that pic is so great, just like a postcard.

I’m wearing some vintage Y parfum tonight. Swoon!!! This is a masterpiece, imho.

p.s. I am still having a terrible time posting here. Jumps all over the place and throws me off of the reply box, posts the reply before I’m ready to. Am I the only one?

Lilybelle, whatever it was with BN got us good -- the mouse was allowing us to make only three clicks, and after that the page -- various sites, not just BN -- would either go frozen or load infinitely, so I had to log out of Internet altogether and start all over again. We have uploaded Ubantu (free) -- and it does have its disadvantages as compared to Windows -- but the system has been stable for about two days now. *knocking on the wood* \\

Picked Guerlain's Nuit d'Amour in line with SnS. It was a blind buy... And not a bad one at that!

Hi RainDrop! (We're on Kaua'i now waving across channel!) No, there's no story behind the picture that involves me. I was looking for a painting of a chic, sophisticated woman and ran across this one. Turns out it was a collaborative painting. I find it fascinating that it turned out so good!
