V&R Spicebomb = Gucci PH II Extreme?

I sampled Spicebomb on a recent visit to Nordstrom and got a little decant to take home. Upon further sampling, the only thing it makes me think of is GPHII, but in Godzilla form. None of the subtlety that made me and plenty more love the Gucci. Ends up sickeningly sweet, and that comes from someone with a HUGE sweet tooth. Disappointed, because Spicebomb has one of the absolute coolest bottles around.

I actually agree. First thing I thought of when I tested it.

Agree also. The heart of spicebomb reminds me of Gucci PH II. As I already have an almost full bottle of Gucci, I won't be buying spicebomb in the forseeable future.

Have both and personally don't get any similarity between the two.

I don't feel that way at all. I think it resembles a more in your face and spicier version of tobacco vanille.

Agreed with hednic, although I do not own them.

I don't think he's saying that it exists, I think he's saying it's like an extreme version of GPHII

I think Spicebomb is the most intriguing fragrance as of late. After quickly scanning this 6-page Spicebomb thread, here's the list of some scents being compared to it:

  • Tobacco Vanille
  • CK One Shock
  • L'occitane Eau des Baux
  • 1 Million
  • La Nuit
  • Gucci Pour Homme II
  • even Egoiste

I do see some similarities with GPHII. I'd probably place it somewhere in between GPHII and Tobacco Vanille. Not as subtle as the Gucci nor as rich as TV. I do love these particular frags though, and would take either over Spicebomb.

Burberry Touch is the closest thing I've smelled to GPHII. Spicebomb's sweetness masks almost all the other notes to my nose. Hard to tell what it is besides sweet.

I got the same tobacco vibe from both and see a little similarity.

This is why I love fragrance. You can have a set of people who all smell something and totally agree on what they get from it. Then another set who disagree entirely. I'm not entirely sure it's down to how developed your nose is either. You always get a wide range of opinion on these comparison threads. I find it intriguing.
