Your skin characteristic?

We all know that skin plays an important part in fragrances, but it probably takes a while to figure out just how. I thought it would be interesting to hear people's experience.

Personally, I've noticed two things - I get more longevity than seems to be average and my skin seems to amplify spices a lot..

Similar experiences with mine.

I have really dry skin so i have to keep reapplying

For whatever reason I get extremely poor longevity and projection out of fragrances. I use unscented cream to moisturise before I apply a fragrance but it doesn't really help.

Take A*Men as an example. It should last around 10 hours. I get 4. Most fragrances last at max around 3 hours on my skin after that they are all skin scents.

Another thing is I rarely ever get more than a couple of inches of projection.

my skin certainly amplifies spices.... thus, i am very careful and generally cannot wear fragrances that contain pepper as a main or dominant note (i.e. Allure homme, Play Intense, etc)

regarding longevity & projection, its a hit or miss. some fragrances people swear by on being longevity and projection monsters are ok to good, while other ones some people don't recognize as being great are beasts on my skin.

As long as you exfoliate using a loofa you should be ok.

My skin does well with spices for sure.....Gary

Oily skin type here, but on the bright side, easy to moisturize and to retain longevity. However I do prefer chypres, gourmands, powerhouses and further frag categories with above average sillage, longevity and projection anyway, so it's not only my skin.

Me too, although I sometimes worry it's simply olfactory fatigue and i'm stinking the place out.

My skin doesn't like Dior Fahrenheit. I get lousy projection from it.

I have quite dry skin and projection/longevity is quite marginal, even when using powerhouses. Therefore I tend to over apply (e.g. 5 sprays of Tobacco Vanille).

Face like an oil slick but the skin on my body is very dry which usually sucks the longevity out of a lot of smells

Pretty dry skin, screwing up longevity on anything but Creeds (what the hell?). I'm too lazy to use lotion, but with the weather warming, everything will be better. Ah - looking forward to that.

Since I daily use face creams I always remember to apply a bit leftover to my neck and throat area.
Then apply 2-3-4 sprays there and the frag gets better longevity.

I have normal to semi dry skin for a Scandinavian but with the added cream to these areas my skin is normal to oily in this area thus I get better frag longevity that way

I have average skin type, no problems to report thankfully.
