Lemony perfume triangle, advise appreciated

Good evening BNers.
Not so long ago, while testing some random perfume I discovered a new perfume sensitive field of my nose which lead me to liking perfume with lemony, bitter orange notes.

Perfume of this kind were absent in my collection since now, as I'd like to include one in my collection. Since then I've been sampling some fragrances of this chypre-like family, and 3 really got my attention, but I'm torn between them.

Chanel Pour Monsieur
- it's the one I really appreciate for its initial lemon blast, which I find really wonderful. Too bad this feeling disappears quickly and then other notes take main stage.

Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche - this fragrance got me with it's beautiful creamy lemon scent, it feels kind of like a lemon cake, really interesting, it lasts few hours on my skin and it makes me feel really good.

Voyage d'Hermes Parfum - this recent release blew me away when I smelled it for the first time. While smelling it I get bitter lemon/orange aroma combined with spices, which makes me swoon, it's so wonderful. After some time I still get some bitterness, but this time joined with a little powdery feeling, which I really enjoyed 'coz I do love those clean and powdery perfume.

I'm hardly thinking about getting 1 of these 3. I want to pick the one that is the most unique, sophisticated, elegant and lasting as I really prefere to wear perfume that are not so common amongst others.

I could use some help of you, please write which one of those three YOU would chose and please do tell me why.

Feel free to add your own suggestions for intriguing yet elegant, lemony, bitter perfume. That would be great if your suggestions would fit the criteria of 100$ maximum.

Perhaps Monsieur Balmain which is very lemony.

Among those three I'd surely go for Pour Monsieur which is extremely solid and classic. Something that if you like it, you'll never get tired of it...

Voyage D'Hermes it's just fine but, in the same price range, I'd surely prefer to get a thick decant of Bigarade Concentree or Xerjoff's 1861 / Nio.

You might want to try Lauder for men..lemon/floral with a musky drydown. It has decent longevity/quality

YSL por homme reformulated is loaded with lemon but the drydown lacks IMO.

Eau Sauvage reformulated can also be your friend but longevity was an issue with me.

It seems like you already have opinions on these three. From what I read it seems Voyage is for you. I liked it when I tried it but never bought it.

Why not buy decants of all 3 so you have more time to get a feel for them ?

This is actually a good call (assuming you're fine with a considerable amount of herbs). You can get the vintage on the interent at a very reasonable price. Powerful stuff.

thatmakesscents, I've got decants of Blanche and Pour Monsieur from Sephora, unfortunately Voyage is only carried by Douglas in Poland, and they don't make samples...

Voyage d'Hermes by Hermes

Try Bleu de Chanel.

Voyage d'Hermes Parfum

how could you forget eau sauvage vintage..you should find one in Europe

While you are at the Chanel counter, try Allure Homme Sport Cologne Sport (in the clear bottle).

Lemons all the way down!

from the three you mention, chanel pour monsieur without a question.

other suggestions:
eau du sud for a mouth puckering citrus that lasts
pdn new york for the creamy lemon thing
sisley eau de campagne for a really bitter and nicely done aromatic citrus
diptyque l'eau de tarocco for one of the best sweet oranges, with the addition of spices. doesn't last that long

I could go on and on. there are lots of very good citrus fragrances.

This is a great recommendation that should have been on my list. He might also like Boucheron original don't you think ?

Pour Monsieur is very elegant and sophisticated.

I also like Eau de Rochas and Eau de Rochas Homme for citrus, and I agree with Eau Sauvage.

Egoiste and New York both have beautiful citrus notes but aren't centered around citrus IMO.

Lemon in a bottle.

Edition Blanche is the best of those 3 IMO and has great longevity and is a good compliment getter

Terre de Bois - Miller Harris
Cravache - Robert Piguet

I'd go for Edition Blanche.

My favourite lemony scents are
YSL Pour Homme
D&G Masculine
Art of Shaving Lemon Essential Oil
Aqua di Portofino.

Renato

From your three I would choose Voyage d'Hermès; I add one suggestion: Eau de Rochas pour Homme...try it; it's great!

Try also Burberry Touch and Moschino Uomo.

Chanel Pour Monsieur is nice as a fragrance, but I look for it more as a chypre, not a lemon scent per se.

I would go with the Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche from your list.

But I would echo what several others have said: Monsieur Balmain!

Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche

How about Acqua di Parma Colonia?

Seems like Voyage d'Hermes Parfum has been kicked out of this rivaltry, as most of you give your vote for Chanel pour Monsieur or Chanel Blanche.

Actually it was Blanche that I grabbed out of curiosity to smell it, which made me realize I adore this lemon note it has.(I always avoided smelling Chanel as I thought they're very common, but there was not a reason not to give it a try) Pour Monsieur was the second one with lemon (and second Chanel in my life I tried) that I liked. Voyage Parfum is a new stuff and a recent try. I would go for Voyage Parfum if 35ml bottle didn't cost 100$.
I also would like the best quality perfume, that additionally doesn't smell like many sporty fragrances with lemon, I'd rather go with something distinctive.
So maybe I should go with the first smell lemon love, Blanche?

A cheap mainstream one, Givenchy Pour Homme:

Penhaligon's - Blenheim Bouquet.

Eau de Rochas pH +3

Incredible mix of lemon and oakmoss. Turin loves it too and gets myrrh too, not sure about that...

+1 for Chanel Allure Homme Sport Cologne Sport in the clear bottle. It's by far my favorite from Chanel & probably my overall favorite lemon based scent. (from your list though, I'd choose Edition Blanche, but I like Cologne Sport more).
I'd get all 3 but VdH EdT is more citrusy than the parfum and it's more tart lime/grapefruit than lemon. Another one to explore is Mouchoir de Monsieur but this can't be called a 'clean' scent due to the civet. However it is certainly not a sport fragrance neither.
Do check out Colonia Intensa, too, which is more of a bitter/aromatic herbal lemon along with cedar. It also has a wonderful neroli note.
You might wanna try Eau de Guerlain.
Beautiful lemon top notes and it lasts all day.

Eau d'Hadrien and Eau du Sud Annick Goutal
Lemon Sorbet from ETRO
You can check out Acqua di Parma Colonia
If these are not available - Chanel pour Monsieur
post #33 of 36
Try these:

Prelude To Love from By Kilian
Oud Immortel from Byredo
Fleurs de Citronnier from Serge Lutens

Perhaps you could clarify something. You say you want to try some colognes with bitter lemon or orange, but the ones you mention don't, at least to me, have the "pure" bitter lemon or orange vibe. Don't get me wrong, they're nice -- I really like Chanel Pour Monsieur, from what I remember (it's harder to find than the other Chanels) -- but I wouldn't consider them to be pure lemony or orangey.

For pure lemon, Eau d'Hadrien is nice, I suppose, but I really prefer Bois de Cedrat. Damn its longevity, but it smells good while it lasts. Can't imagine you'll meet anyone else wearing it, either.

Blenheim Bouquet has been mentioned. It's a nice lemony, limey, piney scent, and has lots of fans on basenotes.

Concentre d'orange verte is my favorite bitter orange. I could wear it every day and be happy. Bigarade Concentre was mentioned, too, but I personally find that BC smells vaguely of body odor.

I suppose if you're looking for something more challenging, something like Terre d'Hermes comes to mind, but you've probably already thought of that if you're trying Voyage.

barclaydetolly, I don't want it exactly to be lemony or bitter orangy from top to bottom. I'm rather interested in perfume with a phase of lemon or bitter orange and eg Chanel Blanche does the trick with it's creamy-lemon notes. I liked Voyage d'Hermes Parfum really much, but I don't want to spend more than 100$ on a small bottle of perfume.
I have a sample of Eau d'Hadrien by Annick Goutal and it does smell nice, but her line is very pricey here and the lasting power is poor, after 2 hours it was completely gone out of my skin.
Concentre d'Orange Verte - I tried it but I found it too bitter and some kind of talcy.

You wanted me to clarify the situation - I want a perfume that I could smell it has a pleasant lemon or bitter orange, but id doesn't have to be focused on this note either. No matter what I'll pick the perfume that would smell the best for me and your opinion counts as it may make me discover something better
