Any specific fragrances that cause you allergies?

For me, GIT and Rive Gauche seems to get me an allergic reaction. Interestingly, it doesn't happen everytime. It's if my allergies are already revved up by pollen or other environmental sources, these two take it to a horrible level. A shame because I like them both.

I have similar experience with many powdery based fragrances. Chergui can also give me bad allergies on occasion.

On the other hand, Hanae Mori has some pungent thing going on that gets me in the back of the nostrils. Not an allergy, but it sharply hits the back of my nose enough to make it noticeable. Dior Homme also does this same effect, as does Kilian ATOH on occasion.

Im pretty sure im allergic to Idole de Lubin edp. My eyes start burning like its pepper spray after a while.

A few fragrances have made me feel sick/gag, but I've never had an allergic reaction.

Mandarina duck pure black gave me a skin rash! Wonder what it had in it to do that as I have not had any issues with other fragrances. I likeed but obviously had to sell it.

Luckily none have caused problems for me.

The only noticeable allergic reaction I have ever had to any cologne was a red rash from Concentre D'Orange Verte by Hermes. It appeared a couple of days after spraying and lasted for several days. No idea which specific note caused it and I'll always wonder if the concentrated version was the main culprit.

I sneeze once after applying aldehyde bombs. That's all!

Creed Aventus and Windsor turn my skin a bright red wherever they are sprayed on. Especially the Aventus, which I don't like the smell of so it's OK to be allergic.

But being allergic to Windsor is a bit heart-breaking. That fragrance is, for me, amazing. My reaction isn't as bad, just a slight flushing of the skin. But I don't take chances so I have had to shelve that one.

Fortunately, I have not run into problems yet.

Amouage Reflection

Despite the fact that I'm allergic to pollen of some grass and trees (the spring will be in full bloom soon, so will be my allergy)
But luckily I've never experienced a situation of fragrance causing me an allergic reaction of skin irritation, redness, rash or sneezing. That would be tought to have a perfume allergy, especially to perfume you really like, because that would probably mean that even if you love it, you can't wear it...

No allergies but Hugo by Hugo Boss gives me a seriously bad headache, even with only 1 spray.

Dirty english can make me sneeze and give me hayfever-like symptoms sometimes. Pity because i love the scent.

Well short story, I ordered a few samples, the vials with the dabber. Anyways, one day started sniffing them and one accidentally touch the bottom tip part of my nose and now have a rash that I can't seem to get rid of. The sad thing is idk which one did this out of ten samples. Sigh

I've smelled well over 1000. It's never happened.

Fortunately it never happened to me either...

The only thing for me is if there is too much pepper in a fragrance it can make me sneeze a bit. But it usually happens only on the opening topnotes of a frag after spraying.

No allergies per se, but just a skin irritation with some Guerlain EDPs that disappears on about an hour.

I get hayfever-like symptoms from a number of fragrances. I find it more common with designer frags than niche but it's far better now than in the 90's. Don't know if that's me getting older or the ingredients of fragrances changing (or both).
Vintage Tsar is the worst offender I've come across but there are many others.

Unfortunately I have very thin, pale skin that can erupt with eczema, and a number of scents also give me contact dermatitis - itchy little red bumps that turn into full-blown hives if I don't wash off the offending substance quickly enough. I have to take a cetirizine pill every morning to fend off the environmental allergens.
The scents which cause this reaction in me include Andy Tauer's Incense Rose and Incense Extreme, and various citrussy florals such as the old Ma Griffe and Helene Rubinstein's Apple Blossom.
I've also had nausea and headaches after sniffing essential oils, worst of all being clary sage, bergamot and any kind of cedar.
I still wear the Tauer scents, though, but on fabric instead of on my skin.
I'm really envious of all those people who don't have this problem.

Tragically my beloved Un Lys from Serge Lutens gives me a rash.

Only two so far. One relatively bad, one minor. The relatively bad one was Secretions Manifiques from ELdO, that made my eyes feel puffy and my vision became blurry. No problem, because I disliked it anyway so I won't be having a repeat "performance".

The minor one is unfortunately from my favorite scent, Portrait of a Lady from Frederic Malle. It turns the skin where I spray it red and it stays that way, only fading as the scent dissipates over time... a long time. Apart from a bit of embarrassment, it really does not seem to bother me at all (no itching or other issues). I still wear PoaL regularly as it is just too good... I just have to avoid wearing it on my wrists where the red rashes are visible.

Thankfully I know non of now, but I do remember only one strong headache due to a scent (unfortunately, I do not remember the actual scents) when I was 6

I just had my first allergic reaction to the vintage version of JAR Golconda. It makes the back of my hand itch like crazy. Haven't noticed a problem putting it other places.

Oh no Brian ! That's a shame ! Voyage d'Hermes gave me a nasty rash for days.

I absolutely love Frederic Malle's Geranium Pour Monsieur but it irritates my skin like no other for some reason. It's sad because I really really want it, but it literally gets under my skin.

when I was in high school all of the girls in the change room would practically BATHE in Calgon Hawaiian Ginger body spray and it would make me nauseated, I would wheeze up and I would be stuck with a migraine all day. To this day anything that smells cheap and sugary as I always found Calgon to be or anything with an artificial ginger scent to it I wheeze up and feel ill. I also find anything with artificial strawberry notes in it makes my break out in a rash.

Polo Double Black makes me sneeze a bit, but that's about it.

I get a blazing headache from anything 'aniseedy' or very smokey. Pity because I love smoke.

I've had a crop of little red dots on my hands from testing fragrances before, but I think my skin can change sensitivity.

Costes 2. I love the scent but it gives me a rash. :-/
post #33 of 33
I've run into a few headache inducing scents but no skin rashes and such
