Bond 9 Amber: am I crazy to like it?

On a testing spree, I sampled this one. I had been considering to replenish original vetiver by creed. The bond oud is straight forward with the oud rose accord that we smell in so many. The amber is a great take on oud. I was expecting to smell an amber prominent composition but instead! I get a rather likable fresh oud accord eith a few other things dancing around it. I haven't sampled this one on skin yet and only have it sprayed on a card. It's very charismatic and comforting and now I find myself trying to decide between this and original vetiver. What have bee your experiences with this fragrance?

Everyone has different likes and dislikes, so you are perfectly sane. For me, there's only been one Bond 9 I've tried that I thought was pleasant, but this one was not it.

It's a nice, dry, peppery floral oud with a very dry amber. I really like it, too, except I find the opening a bit too peppery and almost turpentine like (although that fades quickly enough) and the base a bit too floral. It would still qualify as my favorite dry dry dry amber but then I came across Amouage's Opus VI, which has a similar dry amber but is less floral and instead a bit more boozy and incensey and also has gourmand elements woven in (a nice dry vanilla and hints of cocoa, too).

which amber are we talking about here....? I believe there's the EdT and EdP, and one's for Bond and one's for Harrod's (if I'm not mistaken).

Just smelled both last week at their NYC store(s) and wasn't overly impressed with either but that was just a quick sniff test...

No! It is a FIFI nominee for Nouveau Niche Men for 2012.

It's not the Harrods rendition. Their website calls it amber. This stuff is tenacious. Still projecting like crazy on my card!

NY Amber?

If so, i found it way too feminine on skin and overwhelming with one splay from a sample vial on my arm.

Yes. Now that the card is in extreme dry down, I feel it is getting more fem than I might can handle; that is to say a bit sweet

Test it properly on the skin and see how you go. If you like it why not get it.

No you're not crazy to like it.

30% perfume concentrate vs. 18% for Harrod's amber. Very nice, powerful, with a modern snarky bottle compared to the old guard Chanel and Guerlain, etc. Pushes the envelope in design and scent.

You're not crazy to like it, I think it's an extremely dry amber that is pretty unique. This and Ambrarem are two new ambers I'm getting to know that are interesting and different from the classics like Ambre Sultan, 114, Ambre Precieux.

I'm surprised people find this too feminine, I think the dryness and spices make this one decidedly masculine. Then again, I love and regularly wear many florals (e.g., Carnal Flower, Rose Oud, Noir de Noir, Lumiere Noire pour Homme).
