Vetiver & Risque by Roja

I'm curious to see what Roja Dove does with this vetiver, since I'm crazy about what he did for "M".

British niche line Roja Parfums will launch Vetiver for men in May, followed by Risqué for women in July.

Vetiver ~ a spicy chypre with citrus and green notes; the notes feature pepper, pink pepper, nutmeg, caraway, celery, galbanum, vetiver, guaiacwood, oakmoss and amyris. Available in 50 ml Parfum.

Risqué ~ with notes of bergamot, lemon, Litsea cubeba, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang, chamomile, hyacinth, oakmoss, vetiver, cedar, patchouli, civet and labdanum. In 50 ml Parfum or 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

It seems that Roja Dove has joined the Release As Many Fragrances Possible Within A Calendar Year Club, as their oud creation (as well as a couple of others) only came out late last year...

I'm very much looking forward to trying them, though, but have yet to find one bottle worthy (barring M, of course). I guess it's all the Guerlain or Molinard deja vu and knowing that, if reformulations didn't exist, you could get the source of inspiration for much less.

I dearly appreciate my bottles of Enslaved and Unspoken, but have yet to smell most of the new ones and the ones I did have not impressed me much.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a little mini review on vetiver from the grooming guru. Seems vetiver has a "pornographic note"

^^ Encouraging review! When the scent of its scary price recedes, it looks like its interpretation of vetiver is one i will really enjoy. A hunt-down is in order.

Roja Dove has quite a few fragrances that seem to fly under the radar because of their exclusivity. I wish they were easy available to sample.

This is the thing that interests me.

I have yet to try a single Roja Dove directed piece of work but from what I have heard about the Grosmith line and Diaghalev and others AND given his tenure at Guerlain, I just wonder if he is going to be the guy who manages to come up with stuff that works for Guerlainistas more convincingly than some of the actual Guerlain reformulations?

I'm not in the league of those who can dial in and ask Thierry to whip me up a personal batch of Mitsy with the oakmoss put back in so I am pretty open to anyone who may be attempting to keep the flag flying, so to speak. Maybe he'll come up with a few that work for fans of the 'lost ones' like Parure and Djedi?

I hope someone does! Anyway . . . probably just wishful thinking

I've been at the Roja Dove boutique on various occasions and the SAs repeatedly state that they don't offer samples...

Had a chance to sniff Vetiver this morning.
Immediate impressions: Very fresh, bright opening with clear citrus (neroli? ) and green notes. Nutmeg comes through after a while. Vetiver itself is quite restrained - not terribly smokey or nutty. As with all Roja's perfumes, it smells very natural.

Would be nice to be able to test properly from a sample, but wretched shop refuses to hand any out. Guess they're only interested in courting customers willing to purchase bottles on the spot....

Forgot to mention, apparently another new perfume is being released soon: Fetish, a leathery chypre. SA had no further info.

I completely agree with you.

For example, one of his latest releases (Danger pour Homme) is essentially an extrait version of Guerlain's Heritage, with an olfactory leaning more towards the EDT than the EDP. In other words, the vibrancy of the EDT but with the depth of the EDP.
