Hi I'm just starting out and was wondering what some good cheap Colognes are

Under $40 but not like Adidas cheap

Any particular style of scent you are interested in? Fresh, woody, spicy, floral? Also, searching through the archives using keywords like "cheapies" or "bargain scents" should give you many threads to read through. I have been turned on to a lot of affordable scents by reading those old threads.

whenever i think about cheap but amazing fragrances, i think about Grey Flannel first..but you have to learn to appreciate it

Tommy Bahama
Mugler cologne
Ck happy or shock
Check bargin bins at tj maxx etc.
My suggestion is sample sample sample and test test test and find something you love rather than buy a bunch of ok ones .
If what you love is too expensive find a split
Hope you find what your looking for and welcome to Basenotes

L'Occitanes are very cheap and with good quality.

In the fresh territory, another vote for some of the Lush stuff, in particular Dirty (minty) and Breath of God (which has some smoked note together with the fresh one). they also come in $10 sticks - they don't last much, but it is a good way to experiment.

There are several good ones by Lomani, Jeanne Arthes, and Jacques Bogart.

Second this. Particularly Eau des Baux. And they've just re-released Ambre, which is really good. It reminds me of Spicebomb, but without the plasticky note I get from Spicebomb.
