Wearing winter/fall fragrances during warmer months..

My favorite type of fragrances are the winter/fall colognes. The only problem is that i live in a very warm climate which might get cold 1-2 months out of the year. Is it weird to wear these winter fragrances like le male and amen in warmer weather, even if i go easy on the spray? I just started collecting colognes, and i dont want to have all these nice fragrances, but hardly any opportunity to wear them.

Of course you can wear any fragrance anytime! It's all personal preference. And sometimes the change in weather will give a whole new dimension to the fragrance.

Perfectly said, starship. Wear what you like whenever you like, for whomever you like--especially for yourself.

I've heard a good number of people on here claiming to pull off heavier winter/gourmand scents in the summer heat and getting compliments from others.

It's all about application, something like A*Men would probably work with just one good distanced spray to the neck or even to the chest under your shirt.

I agree. It is amazing how a change in the weather can bring out notes in a fragrance and add something totally different to what you expected from it.

If you want to wear some of the fragrances in the warmer weather then by all means, go for it. You'll just have to experiment with how much you apply so some of them don't become too cloying or uncomfortable in the hotter weather. Enjoy!

Exactly.

Heavy fragrances are good in warm weather, especially the very dry ones.
In fact, there are some thick fragrances that I wear mostly in the summer.

Agree, especially about application. I once wore 4 sprays of Pure Havane in 85 degree heat and nearly knocked myself out!

Honestly, I never gave a whole lot of thought to whether I was wearing a fragrance during the "appropriate season" until I joined basenotes. While I've learned quite a bit since joining I sometimes now have to remind myself to not over think things. If you enjoy a fragrance wear it whenever you feel like it. I personally can't wait to put on some Kouros or Yatagan this summer when it's 90 degrees with 70% humidity.

For me, wearing e.g. say A*Men or Rochas Man in summer does not work, not on myself and also not on others, esp if they bath in such fragrances. Just crass.

If you find even one or two sprays overwhelming in the heat you could try spraying the air in front of you then walking underneath it. This way you get a light halo of scent envelop you instead of the concentrated spray upon your skin.

JH just gave some excellent advice. Don't worry about seasonal stereotypes. Wear what you want, just use discretion if you are concerned that your powerful silage will irritate others.

Go for it and don't hesitate! Your best winter/autumn perfume might turn to be a wonderful spring bet

I wear all my fragrances year round. Just apply accordingly.

i just can't take, let's say, burberry london in july or i don't enjoy dreamer (my signature scent since '99) of which i can't get enough in winter..but if u enjoy ur winter frags in heat, why not wear them?

I'll wear em. I live in Los Angeles so is summer/spring weather more than 75% of the year. But i may not wear em in the daytime when its really hot. But nightime. Dont matter, Any fragrance i feel like wearing i will.

Of course man! Obviously you know to go light on the sprayer but the scents aren't advertised for strictly cold weather, you can wear whatever you want!
Yeah, just spray one or two light sprays

To OP, it's not weird at all. Like what most members said, wear whatever you feel like wearing. As for me, A*Men will be in my Spring/Summer rotation.
