What are the most highly liked colognes as of today?

I'm pretty new here, I just got out of High School and now I'm an early college student. I'm wondering what are the more popular colognes that everyone is into at the moment. I know some people might tell me to find something unique but I personally like to see what's in the crowd at the moment. It's just to give me a good idea and then maybe I can start going more outside the box after I get the hang of things.

I'm 19 1/2 years old if that makes a difference. I'm kind of just looking for whatever ladies around my age are into but I definitely want to find my own cologne that suits me.

It depends of your budget, are you into Niche or mainstream fragrances?
by pure overall popularity (sales), probably Acqua di Gio, Cool Water Calvin Kleins, and other mainstream scents.

here, you'll see a lot of recommendations for various Creed and niche scents. It can be overwhelming especially if you don't have ready access to samples.

I notice from another thread that you're in Texas, so you may want to start out with a summer frag just to dip yr toe into the waters.

If I was starting out with bargain/mainstream frags; I'd look at Nautica Voyage, YSL Rive Gauche, CKone or CKBe, and then get some samples/decants of more expensive frags such as the Creeds.

+1 Acqua di Gio... Very popular and a pretty safe bet.

This might be a useful thread for you: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/299...-you-would-buy

Remember that popular isn't the same as popular on BN, though!

According to a recent article in the L.A. Times:The five best-selling men's fragrances between January and October of this year were Giorgio Armani's Acqua di Gio Pour Homme (in the No.1 spot), Chanel's Bleu de Chanel, Gucci Guilty Pour Homme, Armani Code and Dolce&Gabbana's Light Blue Pour Homme, according to NPD.

CK One Shock for Him by Calvin Klein - One is initially treated to a mildly fresh accord. Clementine, with its sweet orangey and faint floral facets, lavender with its clean, herbal character, as well as cumcumber, with its medicinal, sea-like aspect, all commingle in a brisk concoction. A cloud of something, perhaps aldehydes or the cryptic, energy drink accent, imparts an effervescence to the invigorating blend. Transitioning to the heart, a field day with herbs is had. Leafy, black basil, with its licorice accent, vivacious and woody black pepper as well as mildly spicy and sweet cardamom encase the opening. A nascent tobacco serves as a backdrop to the herbal jubilation. Segueing to the base, the rich and spicy tabacco has come into full bloom, while an earthy mustiness of patchouli flitters about. A pleasant ambrene wood infuses its laurel-like, sweet and spicy, woody overtures. And, a casheran musk imparts its velvety, somewhat floral bouquet. An enjoyable drydown ensues. This versatile composition is an all-season scent with average projection and average longevity, 6-8 hours. Its favorable price point makes this fragrance even more welcomed.

Ones that seem to be popularly seen in stores:

Bleu De Chanel
Armani Code
One Million

You can totally start with La Nuit de L'homme, Aqua di Gio, and pretty much everything mentioned here. But I think the more time you spend on these forums, the more you'll being to get into niches and vintages and pull away from the popular mainstream fragrances. Budget carefully!

Our local Sephora here has a chart of their best sellers, and here's some that I remember (not in order): Acqua di Gio, L'Homme by YSL, Bleu de Chanel, and 1 Million.

I don't like Aqua, tried that a long time ago and it's more of something I'd wear for business because of how unoffensive it is.

Just wondering but how do I give positive reputation for a post? Most forums have this feature or something similar.

Here you go.

You will do much better on BN if you say something like, "I went to Sephora and liked Terre d'Hermes. What else would I like?"

Also, Sephora inventory sorted by popularity.

And the terrifying top-selling Amazon list.

that amazon list is awesome....Mambo is pretty good, strippers and regular girls like it.
Acqua Di Gio is #1. Check out Perfumania as they have a shelf displaying the top 10 most popular men's colognes.

That's the kind of versatility I can really use.

I wonder if ArouseRx will get me a discount on lapdances?

Yikes! Only one I truly like on that list is Touch. so seemingly out of place, too.

I'm ashamed to admit, I bought Realm way way back in the day... Oh glorious, impetuous youth.

Is ArouseRx in the bn database? Y'know, just in case this gets added to my wardrobe...

Add Aventus as niche brand.

Actually vintage Realm does not smell bad at all. Nothing Earth shattering to be sure, but better than most of the garbage out there nowadays and for silly money. I still have it in my wardrobe, but admittedly have not worn it in years. The whole pheromone marketing gimmick though is utter bunk. I am sure it is not high on their best seller list due to its scent, however... Sigh...

I can't believe guys actually buy the Pheromone colognes, I'm pretty skeptical but I find it hard to believe. I think that may just be what makes it sell, curiosity.

Creed, Erolfa

212 Men.
Cool Water, Aqua di Gio, Armani Code will be pretty safe choices. Also Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Burberry Touch is a great one. Mass appeal, and despite being on the top buy list, it'll make you just different enough to smell distinct.
I'm 21 years old and I've been into fragrance for a few years now. Having a lot to choose from, these are the ones that definitely receive the most compliments out of my wardrobe, which is what I think you're going for (appeal of the opposite sex?)

Acqua di Gio
Versace Pour Homme
Kenneth Cole Vintage Black
Lacoste Essential
D&G Sport

This Amazon list is really strange. A lot of retired guys must buy from them, huh?

Eau de Colognes? I don't know.
Perfumes EDT: Terre D'Hermès, Bleu de Chanel, Allure Homme Sport, L'Eau D'Issey, 1 Million, Acqua di Gio, Boss Bottled.
The one with the most recommendations; Acqua Di Gio.

You could also add
YSL L'Homme
YSL La Nuit L'Homme
Armani Code
Givenchy Play Intense
Paco 1 Million
Chanel Allure Homme (Allure Homme Sport would be ok too)
Terre D'Hermès
