Help me choose my next big buy.

Thread Starter
After already spending a fortune this month I think I'm going to splash the cash one last time.

I'm probably looking to buy a 100ml bottle from the Tom Ford private collection, and I'm open to suggestions. Have already smelled Tobacco Vanille and Tuscan Leather and quite liked them. The other bottles I'm thinking about are Creed's green irish tweed\\Virgin Island Water\\Aventus (even though I already have a new 75ml with a screwed sprayer, but want a bigger bottle). Although I'm slightly leaning towards Tom Ford.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions\\advice.

I'd go with Creed Green Irish Tweed

I personally don't like Creeds, so I would rather go for TF. If you like Tuscan Leather and Tobacco Vanille, go for one of them - my vote for Tuscan Leather, since I like leathers. I'd also recommend smelling Oud wood for something more striking, as well as Noir de Noir (chocolatey).

Why does it have to be creed or tom ford? There is a world of perfumes to go for. Christian Dior has a collection worth looking into. Leather Oud and Ambre Nuit seem very popular as is bois d'argent. I am a big Frapin fan, and think you should investigates the band too. I could go on forever about bond 9, by killian etc etc etc.

alternatively you could by 2 cheaper, quality bottles. just don't restrict yourself

GIT or Aventus. So much more versatile, you'll wear them way more and never grow tired of em.

Green Irish Tweed or Tobacco Vanille both are very easy to like.

You can't go wrong with any of the following TF's:

Tobacco Vanille
Noir de Noir
Oud Wood

Honorable mention is Amber Absolute. It's just not as versatile as the ones I listed above.

Tom Ford Black Orchid is really nice.

Agreed. Although I feel 50 ml is sufficient for this fragrance.

All your choices are good. From your list though, my 1st choice would be Tobacco Vanille. Another great one that I recently discovered is Tom Ford Amber Absolute. WoW.

I would recommend just getting a 50 mL of a Tom Ford and then maybe a nice designer scent. That would be very sufficient and give you more variety. That being said, I don't really know what's in your wardrobe or how into fragrances you are, so you should do what's right for you. Personally, I think Tobacco Vanille is a winner.

My favorite Tom Ford is Noir de Noir - check this out if you can.

Also, Tom Ford Amber Absolute seems to be getting discontinued, so try this one soon if you have any interest. It's another favorite from Tom Ford.

+1 for Dior Leather Oud

Tobacco Vanille was my first Tom Ford. Since you like what you smelled, you can't go wrong with it. My favorite, right now, is Arabian Wood.

TV! period.

Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather or Neroli Portofino.

Tuscan Leather

Personally instead of the 100ml of one, I'd go with a 50ml of Tobacco Vanille and a 50ml of Tuscan Leather.

Tom Ford Noir de Noir - a chocolate rose garden.

you like Tobacco Vanille....I love Tobacco Vanille....Tobacco Vanille

Tom Ford Extreme. I am a big fan of most of his offerings, but this is one of the very best, IMO, and rivals many from the Private Collection. I also like a lot of the Creeds...GIT is a no-brainer if you want to go Creed.

I was in New York last week and had the opportunity to going to Bergdorf. (I'm new to this, but god I love that store -- if money were no object!..... Anyway.)

I tried the Creed Original Vetiver, based on the recommendations here...... but ended up buying Silver Mountain Water. I came home and saw that there was this real love/hate thing going on with it..... I love it...

I also blind bought Donna Karan Black Cashmere. Oh my.... my oh my..... I've come a long way since CK/One

Tom Ford- Amber Absolute
Creed- Aventus

Out of your list I would get Green Irish Tweed. A good "under the radar" scent is Bois des Iles by Chanel.

+1 ... and:

Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford -
Upon application, one is immersed in a invigorating leather, quite similiar to new, nubuck shoes, exuding a soft, velvety smell. This wonderful leather appears to be superimposed on a fairly muted, nectarous and fruity cluster of raspberries. Reveling herbs, namely saffron and thyme, push this fruitiness aside, and infuse the leather with their own sweet and peppery as well as lemony and woody aspects. A faint floral sweetness from jasmine begs to be recognized, but succumbs to the nascent, citrus and pine of olibanum. This rich frankincense rises to tug at the supple leather, and in its zeal, a fleeting, terpene note is sensed. As opposition, a sharp woodiness from the amber counters with its own plea for supremancy. The coveted, subtle leather meanwhile basks in its elegance. Albeit somewhat linear, this appealing composition has good longevity and projection.
