Question about Rive Gauche and Azzarro PH

Hello guys.

I'm 18 and I'm curious to know if those fragrances fits my age well.
By fitting my age I mean isn't them "offices scent" or too formal? Isn't them too "bold"?

I saw some comparisons between Rive Gauche and Kouros, that may be a problem because I sampled Kouros once (on test-stripe because I was afraid of smelling like that in public) and didn't liked it. Are they really similar?

Thank you!

How much do you want to smell like a barbershop? They are bold and people will think you've just shaved. I wouldn't say it's a safe bet unless you're sure about liking it, luckily they are pretty easy to picture.

I think Rive Gauche is safe. I haven't tried Azzaro PH so I can't comment on that. Besides that fact that I'm commenting on not being able to comment because I haven't tried it yet.

For your age I would say these fragrances are too mature, but best to sample and find out if they are to your taste.

They're both fine for your age IMO. Just spray lightly.

Rive Gauche is nothing like Kouros. Neither is Azzaro PH.

Given the choice between RG and Azzaro, I'd recommend you go with Rive Gauche.

Rive Gauche pour Homme by Yves Saint Laurent - Initially, one is treated to a brisk melange of bergamot, with its tart, citric dimension, rosemary, with its cooling, camphoraceous slant, and star anise, with its smoky licorice. This burst of freshness is fleeting, and the refreshing opening transitions rather quickly to the waiting middle. Here, in the herbal heart, a mixture of clean lavender imparts its soapiness, invigorating clove provides a slight smokiness, and crisp, geranium leaf bestows its lemony greeness. This barbershoppy concoction meanders to the awaiting base. A robust medley of earthy and musty patchouli, lemongrass-like greeness and clumped dirt from vetiver, as well as waxy and faintly smoky guiacwood commingle to present a sensual and somewhat dark drydown. This masculine composition has average projection, basically a skin-scent, and good longevity, 7-10 hours. Conjuring an illusion of shaving cream, this wonderfully original and unique scent should be had!

This fragrance is good for you, but only get the tin/aluminum can.

+1. yeah yeah we don't do the whole age and gender classification on Basenotes but seriously for real life go with something appropriate...

Have and love both, and I find both complement someone who is reasonably well-dressed. I don't think age matters; of greater importance to me is whether or not I'm dressed sharply. When I'm in shorts and sandals, or jeans and a very casual t-shirt, I reach for something else.

Enjoy your 18 yo with a more youthfull frag: try Voyage and Terre d'Hermes, Bvlgari Soir, Bvlgari Man, Prada Amber...

Whoa, nice answers so far. Due to their price I wasn't going to sample before buying but now I changed my mind.

I don't know if they have something in common but my stepfather have a bottle of Paco Rabanne PH and I LOVE the scent, it's one of my favs but I can't imagine any place I'd wear it.

I love Bvlgari Man and Prada Amber. And I'm really curious to try Voyage, especially the EDP.

Yeah just leave those and go with something else. Azzaro PH is definitely for an older gentlemen imo.

Azzaro is in the same family as Paco PH; they do smell similar, although Paco is a little more barbershop, Azzaro more herbal and outdoorsy. If Paco Rabanne didn't work for you, neither will Azzaro, IMO.

Given the choice between RG and Azzaro, I'd recommend you go with Rive Gauche. It's the safer of the two also.
