Good morning ladies and gents, Today I'm going with a sample and will give a full wear to Amouage's Opus IV

I hope I will like it because I will be wearing it for at least 8hrs during my daily shift at work!

Good morning,

Basenotes is a big mess again... menus don't refresh and and... after 3 days of easy-going I had hopes we were back to normal.

It's Vega for me today. The ylang-ylang predominance brings it close to Cuir de Russie Parfum or Bois des Iles territory in feel for me, but today with the base emerging, while sitting on the train, I suddenly felt it reminded me in parts of another Guerlain classic. It occurred to me it was L'Heure Bleue, no surprise with the base notes here.

TGIF, folks! Make your pick from the wine cellar, Jon and G.!

Best to all

I'm getting ready for bed here in West Coast USA. Scent is this evening's Vert Pivoine by HdP - a charming spring floral.

good morning (or good night for some of our west coast friends across the pond), i was in the mood today for some feline vanilla. have a good weekend everyone.

Hello All,

Hooray, it's Friday!
Last night I attended another Perfume Lovers London meetup, hosted this time by Katie Puckrik (mini report to follow). SotE was Mouchoir de Monsieur unintentionally layered with Pour Monsieur (note to self: read labels properly when tucking a decant in coat pocket). No matter, by the end of the evening I was covered in a plethora of different scents anyway.

More Amouage testing today: Epic Woman and Memoir Woman.
(Of Jubilation XXV and Epic Man yesterday, I preferred the latter's rubbery, smokey leatheriness over the former's sweet plumminess).

Have a lovely day, all.
Oh, and Larimar - A Montepulciano for me tonight

Think I need to after all the playing at silly B's trying to post here today - enough to drive anyone to drink !

In synch with Kenzo Power Cologne.

Thats it, haven't got the patience to persevere any further - see y'all later ....

Went to town for some cheese and ham shopping for the weekend and passed by one of the local perfume stores... so, in my quest for neroli (it's done and I'll settle with the Jeune Homme and Cologne Sologne) I tried the much praised Neroli Portofino. It is said to be a big seller here, too. I don't like it. It seems there is a neroli note (a proper one) in this, but as if the bright, white side of it was amped up with synthetics. This is such a statement of unrefinement, I'm sorry! This however I think is true for the whole Tom Ford line.
My iris quest (ongoing) let me try Serge Lutens Bas de Soie. The iris note is the rooty, vegetal kind straight off the bottle. It however morphs to a musty, dusty floral thing (is this the hyacinth?). It does not smell appealing at all.
Goutal's Hadrien Absolu (a limited edition I was told?) smells very very good and might be the best thing available, if Sous le Vent is/was out of reach.

Hello everyone!

I'm attending a tennis luncheon later this morning so I'm in my on-court favorite, Estée Lauder's Azurée, which should last well through the match and still be going strong as we sit down to lunch (...the chef at this club makes the best shrimp salad in the whole world, so that's really an event unto itself, and especially when paired with a Bloody Mary, lol!) Y'all have a fantastic day!

Roberto I love Nuit de Tubereuse, after an SA at Barney's pitched it to me a week ago. He said it was a personal favorite of his. He sprayed some on my wrist and it stayed on my sweater for days. Just a nice aquatic floral to me...not especially tuberosey though- for Carnal Flower, Tubereuse Criminelle and Fracas fans...

I pulled out another L'Artisan scent for today. Bois Farine I should wear this more! Have an easy day and weekend everyone...

Good morning, my lovelies. I guess we were broken down yesterday, again?

To quote my friend L., I am "in a mess of spritzes and remainders" after receiving a package from a delightful BN accomplice.

E., what a sweet and sneaky mama you have got! What is she cooking/baking this weekend?

Good morning to the New World!

Datura Noir today, from a sample. It's pretty. Creamy and not noir, sort of beachy. Seems very wearable but I don't think I'd buy unless it was a very good deal.

It was odd, this morning - still sort of recovering from a cold and I could not smell anything at all. I kept pulling things out and trying, it was like getting dressed in the dark, just chose one that seemed Fridayish in my recollection, and put it on and hoped. Had to stick my wrist in the teen daughter's face and say "Can you smell that?" because I couldn't tell if I was underapplying. Nose has decided to start working and I am pleased with the smell, so it worked out fine.

I'm going with hubby to buy a new lawn mower...

SotD (but it's so fleeting that it's really just scent of the hour or so) is a discontinued body spray (and matching lotion) from Ann Taylor, Orange Nectar Honeysuckle.

Been having Basenotes problems for days on my end. Every morning when I can log in, it seems to be down.

Wednesday: Eau Sauvage/ Amen Pure Shot (very disappointing)
Thursday: Spicebomb (was a dud)/ Coriolan (always Satisfies)
Friday: So far I am wearing this Vanilla experiment I've been working on.
Top: Black Pepper, Bitter Orange, Sumac
Mid: Muguet, Orange Blossom, Privet
Base: Sandalwood, Tobacco, Ambergris, Tonka Absolute

Have a great Friday!

have tried route du vetiver today L, i like it a lot but i'm 'relieved' to say that i find it very similar to encre noir and sycomore and therefore am not tempted to buy it (that's why i'm relieved). have a great weekend all!
L, Jon & G - what you drinking this weekend?
G, you are tempting me with an italian, i'm thinking to synch with you and get a barolo, amarone or brunello. if not, a nice sangiovese or cabernet sauvignon from napa or sonoma valley, like a clos du val or seghesio (yeah, i like 'em rich).

L, have you tried pg's cuir d'iris? or fm's iris poudre? i'd go with cuir d'iris but that's just me, because of the leather.

Gandhajala, I’m looking forward to your report. That sounds like fun.

Enjoy the tennis, Evangeline. You smell lovely.

Just some Eau d’Hadrien for me this morning. I’m not in synch yet, but maybe later I’ll go with No. 5 Eau Première. We’ll see.

It’s Friday.

Packed up the caravan and drove home this morning. Weather too bad to stay longer. Been in the Truth or Dare dry down today. Over 24 hrs after sprintzing it's tuberosy loveliness is still going strong! My hair smells so glamorous despite looking like a birds nest. The paper spill has scented our ride home in the truck. So unexpected.

Going to start the VC&A samples tonight.

Synching up in Jacques Polge's Bel Respiro. I hope things get back to better, site-wise. It has been a bit frustrating trying to get on-site and post. Take care and Happy Friday, all.

danny, Cuir d'Iris is no leather to me and PG-like too sweet and gourmandish. Malle's take is nice, but not exactly it, a bit too ladylike for me. I will be enjoying a Hermitage, my current 'wine of the house' so to say. I secured a lot with accumulated discounts etc at a very good price. Also will be enjoying a Sobranie Black Russian ( @ G.).
In Or des Indes, Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. This is exquisite and discreet, beautiful and slightly 'strange' = metallic.
PS: i've just heard thunder outside...

The only Jacques Polge I own is Beige and I do love it. The main note is hawthorn and it is unlike any other perfume I have ever experienced. It is light and airy, yet woody. A real sophisticated treat. Oddly, I don't own one single Olivier Polge.

Thank you, lilybelle. It was fun. I hope to have a few spare moments tomorrow to put, uh, fingers to keyboard.
