List your favorite/secret fragrance combinations

Thread Starter
I tried a very small application of black orchid with my smw to mix it up yesterday, and i was shocked that it worked. So it got me thinking about combinations of parfume (something i almost never do) and i was curious about what you others have discovered that work well in combination. Please share.
Haven't found a combination I would consider doing yet.
Comme des Garcon 2 man and almost anything. I used to mix it with blanche for amazing layers of lemon, vanilla, and wood.
I tried combining Wall Street and Coney Island like so many recommended and I just like them better separate. I think this would go for any fragrance in my mind. When I buy something it's because I like it how it is, combining anything would most likely cloud what I enjoy with something unnecessary.
chergui + douce amere
i have the combination but I have never tried it yet because someone from my gym proclaims it's the best combo to use. What is it? ADG & Platinum Egoiste
post #7 of 57
Wow, there are so many, I couldn't begin to list em.

The secret is to take opposites and combine em. For example, an oldie like Polo combined with some overly fresh aquatic will blow your mind. Same with something deep and dark like Versace Black Jeans does very well with anything light and airy like Cool water.

Lime, Basil and Mandarin and Virgin Island Water.

Pure Coffee + L'Instant;
212 Splash Men 2008 + Moschino Friends.
Tuscan Leather and Eavs de Bavx is lovely and garners many compliments.

I know this will make some BNers shriek in horror, but I actually blended two frags into an atomizer, and quite like the result. I had my decanting supplies out for a few swaps with Youtubers, and had out Moschino Uomo. Now I really like this one, seems fresh and summer-y, but the gf swears it smells too feminine. I happened to get Zirh Ikon a few days before, and thought it had a very 'masculine' structure to it. I think you can see where this is going... So in a 10ml atomizer, I used about 8ml of the Moschino and and 1.5-2.0 ml of the Ikon because I was feeling like a kid with a science kit and because the two of them together cost less than $30USD. I labeled the vial "Moschino Ikon", and wear it occasionally. The longer it sits in the atomizer, the more fleshed out it becomes, and while not a superb frag, is actually pretty nice. Yes, I'm a Barbarian.

Ohhh my god - I'm the craziest blender you will ever meet

I haven't got the balls to blend my expensive niche frags .... yet ...... but my cheap designers I blend very very often, even to a point where I blend more often than not

My top picks for blends at the moment are:

1. JPG Le Male & YSL Kouros - this combo gives me a many compliments, more than any other fragrance I've ever worn. Have received 20+ compliments when wearing this blend.

2. Dior Fahrenheit & Dior Fahrenheit Absolute - I get the oud from the Abslute and the petrol from the Fahrenheit, magic blend

3. Carolina Herrera 212 and Mugler Cologne - I get fresh cut grass from 212 and a soapy grassy vibe from the Mugler Cologne - magical blend

4. Polo Blue and Prada Infusion D'Homme - prolongs the longevity of the Polo Blue into almost 10 hours with the help from the Infusion

5. Chanel Egoiste & Azzaro Acteur - a bit of fresh citrus rose added to a classic frag. I almost enjoy this blend more than the original to be honest.

6. Chanel Allure Homme & Drakka Noir - added longevity to Allure Homme and on my skin they just blend perfect together

7. Chanel Allure Edition Blanche & Chanel Allure Cologne Sport - gives you an extra fresh sharp lime blended with the soft sweet lemon. Love it in the heat and somehow prolongs the longevity of the Edition Blanche.

8. Chanel Allure Homme Sport & Versace Pour Homme - very close to each other in smell, the Chanel just have that vanilla note. I get added longevity from blending them together. 8-10 hours solid.

9. Cacharel Pour Homme & Boss No.1 - they blend very nicely together and again I get better longevity out of it.

10. Sergio Tacchini Pour Homme and Boss Elements Aqua - they support each other and creates a better made fragrance on my skin, when blended together

11. Prada Amber Pour Homme & Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense - just magical how well these two blends. 10-12 hours longevity. The Prada Amber is a bit too soapy for my taste used alone, when I add the Intense version in a blend - it makes for one of my favorite soapy scents ever.......

12. Lolita Lempicka au Masculine & Givenchy Pi - my preferred night out frag. 12-14 hours longevity and crazy projection. I know I'm unique, when I'm using this blend, and it smells 10 times better than 1 Million, Le Male & what frags other guys use when going out.

13. YSL l'Homme & Eau de Cartier Concentrée - what can I say, they blend very nicely together - YSL L'Homme alone gives me 5-7 hours longevity, when in this blend I get 8-10 hours from it. Molecules mix well here, I guess

14. YSL La Nuit de L'Homme and YSL Opium - crazy blend. I love it, even better than when wearing them by them self.

15. Terre D'Hermés Pure Perfume & Terre D'Hermés EDT - big brother and little brother - what more can I say !

I could carry on all day......I wear frags for me, myself and I - use what I like, not what other people think you ought to wear. I also often blend dark and light high quality beers to enhance their taste. Don't mix red wines that way ..... yet......

Worthy of mentioning:

Davidoff Cool Water, Azzaro Chrome and Guerlain Vetiver - 1:1:1 - love this blend in the summer heat and for the gym.

Rochas Man + Azzaro PH

If I'm out and about wearing that, I almost always get asked what I'm wearing and I'm not quite sure what to answer.

So I say Azzaro PH... that way, if they google it, they don't find that I've recommended a sugary-woody-lavender that comes in a metallic pink box and is shaped like a sextoy

Wow! Did you prepare your house to all those experiments? They sound nice, but I just can't get the oud on Fahrenheit Absolute! Grrr.

Oooooh... My two favourite perfume loves together!? Gotta try it!

Fahrenheit + Kenzo Pour Homme- didn't work; Fahrenheit turned the calone on Kenzo PH louder on my skin.
I got bored one day and layered Zirh corduroy and Bogart Witness. I'm pretty happy with the combo.
I´ve done it with these:

L´Occitane cedar eau de parfum and Yatagan - wicked, powerful woody and dry herbal concoction.

L´Nuit del Homme and Rochas Man - nice sweet blend
post #21 of 57
Homage Attar/Bois Du Portugal - You get the great rose floral with the great woody drydown.
I'm yet to try: M7 + Fahrenheit, two giants.
When I get home, I'm gonna try YataBang! and see if my hairline stops receding.

Pure Havane and Pure Malt form a excellent combination.
3rd Man + Zino Davidoff = beautiful citrus rose!
YSL Rive Gauche + Lagerfeld Kapsule. Podery masculine fougere + a citrucy and sorta minty fragrance. Creates a nice balance of something strong with something light.

Amouage Jubilation + Joop Pour Homme. Both sweet. but Jubilation's thick fruitiness + Joops sweet spiciness = a tangibly thick, fruity, spicy deliciousness that I definetely approve of.

Creed Royal Water + Cartier Declaration Cologne. Just started experimenting with this one. I love Them both separately, but I thought Royal Water fresh floralness would be great with a gingery citrus fragrance like Declaration Cologne. I was right. Will give that a try tommorow.

Biagiotti Roma + Encre Noire
I usually don't combine fragrances. But, the other day I stumbled upon the combination of jasmine perfume oil (purchased in a whole foods store) and Kiehl's musk.

I was already wearing the Kiehl's, when I rolled some jasmine oil on my forearm from a tester. The result was amazing. So I purchased the oil, and now I frequently combine the two.

Aventus + Millesime Imperial, salty melony pineapple mmmmmm!!
For the more mainstream...

If you find Le Male a bit too sweet, combine it with Acqua Di Gio.

Pi reinforced the gourmand notes of Au Masculin and at the same time gave it some woods and spices(?). Excellent! I recommend you to try.
Ah, and no, I didn't get any laid. I stood home listening to some new albums. LOL. But this mix is a lady killer. Oops, no one wants a dead lady; it's a lady enchanting I guess.

I have actually mixed together in an atomizer Millèsime Imperial and Tirrenico. That is a huge, huge winner. I find MI a little boring without Tirrenico, and I'm still waiting for warmer weather to wear the latter on its own. I love this combination.

I also layer Vetiver 46 with JAR Bolt of Lightning, which might possibly be the world's most indulgent fragrance mashup.

Patchouli patch - 3 shots to my chest. Poivre Samarcande - a couple of shots to general face and front neck area. Voleur des Roses - Just a dab behind each ear and rub the rest off on the nape of my neck. I'm a happy camper.

Comme des Garçons 2 Man + Chanel Cuir de Russie

Adding my impressions about Pi + Au Masculin- on base notes it seems that the anise of Au Masculin turned up the leather of Pi.
Today I used Alien + A*Men and it worked amazingly good. I sprayed Alien first and then A*Men over it. Two bombs together. Pure Dynamite, the name of this new Mugler's flanker.

Nice to know not only I dare admit to blending a little bit now and then

Blended Chanel Allure Homme and Lalique Pour Homme 'Lion' last night and what a very nice combination.

Somehow the Lalique reinforced the tonkabean from the allure and I got a very nice vanilla-tonkabean fragrance with hints of a dark mild rosewood in the background. Still now this morning can smell it - 12 hour after application

I've already tried both but don't remember much of them, specially on Lalique; just remember liking Lion.
I guess my Pure Dynamite will last until Sunday, even with me talking shower twice per day!
CHSeifert, let us informed about your new experiments! Take care, man! Don't let things explode out there!

Note: When I had the idea of blending A*Men + Alien I thought: "Hmmmm, I guess I'll have to take a bath for the third time today!"
Well, my baths stood at 2.

New blend for the gym (Gym ONLY) that I just found:

6 parts Calvin Klein CK One
1 part Guerlain Habit Rouge EDT
1 part Joop! Jump

Gives me 5-7 hours longevity, a bit of a soapy citrus blend with added orange freshness.
Nice blend for the gym IMHO
