What's happening to my cologne? It smells very "alcoholic"

I'm a newbie to frags and I have a bottle of Cuba Gold and Guess by Marciano.
I keep both in the bathroom and I've only had them for about a month or two.

The guess is fine but the Cuba Gold smells very "alcoholic" and definitely not what it smelled like when I first bought it. It's scent is COMPLETELY different, it just smells of alcohol.

Any ideas?

Have they both been kept away from a bright light source?

Im not really an expert but I would guess that either;

1. The frag might not be authentic to begin with
or
2. The constant change in temp damaged the fragrance

Spray some more, if it still smells wrong/bad, chuck it away.

The problem is that you keep them in the bathroom. With the humidity and temperature changes from the shower, that will surely bring down your colognes life expectancy. I would store them in a dark, cool and dry location.

That's a thought, a Cuba Gold knockoff would be something else!

Think Inception. Yes, we're making a copy of a copy. We need you to copy Cuba Gold.
Oh, and by the way, your budget per liter of concentrate is $0.37. Good luck!

I'm not sure if you're being serious, but this is most likely the problem, or at least a contributing factor. Bathrooms get very hot due to steam, heat and moisture and tend to retain this heat for a while. If you've also got them on a window ledge with the UV rays coming in as well as the heat of the sun (and steam etc) you're not doing your fragrances any favours. My advice would be to move them to a cooler room or a cupboard/wardrobe. You needn't go as far as putting them in a fridge, as room temperature will be just fine. The main thing is to keep them away from direct heat and sunlight. Hope this helps.

Not sure where you are from but there are AA chapters all over the world. If the Cuba wont go then maybe you should look for an AlAnon meeting for some support.

They exist. I bought one from eBay and sure enough it was fake. It was made in China. I'll try to dig out the details.

EDIT: OK, I think this the same as my fake. The bottle and box looks the same at first glance but up close, the seal is different. It's got a different face on it from the real thing. It's also made in China. Oh yeah, and it stinks!

I'm serious! I was stunned as well. I bought from eBay as its not readily available in the UK. I never even entertained the thought that it might be fake! Crazy.
